traditional education

Warning: Spoilers
There is a dialogue in this movie that you can consider as the most important dialogue of the entire movie, the dialogue that Ahmad's grandfather says to his friend the reason that he sent Ahmad for a useless task is that he want to educate him. He also says his father used to beat him every week just to teach him how to obey whitout any question and says that a person who asks less questions and is more controlled will benefit the society. In fact, the movie is about thetraditional education. A school that its teacher, instead of teaching students to think correctly and develop critical thinking, tellsthem that dont say anything until you are asked a question.

This system of education and training has caused people to be immersed in everyday life when they grow up (at the end of the film, we also understand that Ahmad has an older brother who is in military training, which means another system for suppressing) and not paying attention to Ahmad's wishes in any way. Ahmed has to repeat the same word several times to get attention, and due to his traditional upbringing, he cannot say his request in a stronger voice, like the scene where Ahmed's father is indifferent to his apparent distress.

But at the end of the day, Ahmad sees an old man who, like himself, cares about simple and small matters, for example, he misses the wooden doors he made and remembers all his customers, and because of these characteristics, he is willing to help Ahmad and in a sequence Takes care of him so that the dogs don't hurt him (Kiarostami has a short film called Nan and Kuche, which is exactly has the same theme).

In my opinion, where is the friend's house is a critical film. Criticism of education and training.
