Eternals (2021)
Just Hot Garbage
I laughed out loud at some of the positive reviews on here. They were better examples of fiction writing than this script.
This is easily one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Plot is laughable, effects are underwhelming and the acting is atrocious. I seriously didn't care about a single character. The amount of flashbacks, flash forwards and I think flash sideways you just lose track of where you are. In the end it makes no difference. It all sucks just sooooooo hard.
The checklist for diversity was long, but they nailed it. It seems over the top and so obvious that it's laughable. Maybe if the acting and writing was better it wouldn't be so ridiculous.
Hitting yourself in the hand with a hammer might be more enjoyable.
Avoid at all costs.
Unforgotten (2015)
Started for Nicola Walker
Being from the States I have found over the past 10 years I gravitate towards UK shows because the are quite simply miles better than the drivel we churn out in the US. I think it's because they tend to do more with less. Most shows are only 4-8 episodes per season. Much less dialogue as well. They let the viewer figure things out on their own without constantly running off off at the mouth assuming viewers can't grasp the plot unless the characters explain every last detail.
I started this show because I'm a huge fan of Nicola Walker. I love her in every show she has been in. First 2 seasons gave quickly vaulted this show up my lists of favorite shows. Not quite Broadchurch, but what is?
Murderville (2022)
Meh....
I really wanted to like this, but too often it's just not funny. I get what they were aiming for, but misses the mark repeatedly.
I'm a big fan of Will Arnett and his style of cringe worthy comedy, but the actors seem lost trying to match him. Really, Marshawn Lynch was the funniest because he had no clue what he supposed to do and just rolled with it.
Can't see this coming back for a second season.
Sasquatch (2021)
Netflix envy much?
With some of the garbage docs that Netflix has been churning out recently Hulu decided they can play the game too. They hook you in with the title and get you thinking maybe this might be a fun romp down the old Big Foot trail, but nooooooope, this is almost all about weed and hippies and paranoia. If they had just said that up front with an appropriate title I might have watched anyways.
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
The Wait Wasn't Worth It
I have been waiting for this so long. Blocked out premiere night so the wife and I wouldn't be distracted. Within 30 minutes we were both looking at each other wondering why.
The action sequences are great, but the plot is hot garbage. They give you no reason to care about any of the human characters. The plot is atrocious and "science" is laughable at best.
Save yourself from 2 hours of regret. Maybe somebody could do us all a favor and splice together all the fight scenes.
Superstore (2015)
Fast Start, but Faded Just As Fast
I thought the first 3 seasons were solid. Wife and I laughed a lot. Yes it had occasional liberal agenda moments, but the writing was good enough to clever and smart about it. Then season 4 they dropped all pretenses and went all in and just owned it. Sadly the jokes no longer could balance it out. Season 5 became unwatchable and we finally gave up.
I fully expect shows like this to be left leaning, but selling out for the cause at the expense of poor writing ruined a promising show.
