My Little Pony: Make Your Mark (2022– )

G5 is here, after a movie that surprised everyone and a special chapter that was... something, the series has arrived and i have a lot to say about this one.

1st thing that obviously is required to talk about is animation, strange at times it is not as bad as seen in the 45 minutes episode, it's now a bit better compared to how it looked but still behind the movie's animation. Voice acting is decent, except for Sparky... i think it's too deep for a baby dragon despite all Sparky means to the story, everyone has a good voice development being the best ones Zipp, Sunny and Misty. For the new characters design (Opaline and Misty mostly) they are good contrasts to the main cast with light colours and them having slight more darker tones, Misty being the one with the best design (who won the audience in no time).

For things they should make a bit better is animation in some points, the lights are strange with the models and hairs don't move as freely as in the movie, Zipp, Pipp and Hitch are the most non affected by this issue due to their hairs have less volume, unlike Sunny, Izzy and Misty who have the most.

Is not awfully bad, but they need to fix these few problems and we will ge good to go, G4 also had problems with their animation in the beggining and they became better as the show were getting more seasons. Make your Mark can be also good with some time, give it a chance.

Little Witch Academia (2017)

What's up Witches?

Not many things deserve a 10/10 rate, but Studio TRIGGER did an absolute masterpiece with this one.

First of all, fantasy is always good because each fantasy world works diferent one from another and this one has it's own identity, explaininf the magical reason for one spell, a potion or creature; nothing is unexplained. It also presents that in this world everyone can be a witch, no need to born with magical abilities to become one like in others; with that the characters are original presenting cliches but twisting them to the limit giving a small reason of why they act like that. The story is beautiful, evolving at any point the plot lets them, this is not only related to the story; every character evolves alongside this, their cliches also break with this... sometimes.

The thing is the main protagonist is almost 100% of time the same attitude the whole duration but that makes her adorable in a special way. But others have a very strong personality since episode 1 and keeps it for long enough to make them a bit harder to forget, but as told they have a reason to be like that and they give all the explanations needed.

I don't have anything bad to say, the voices are good (i listened them in Japanese and Castillian Spanish) and for sure you will have a good time. Let yourself be bewitched by Akko and her adventures at Luna Nova, you won't regret.

Hilda and the Mountain King (2021 TV Movie)

The Perfect Excuse to Watch Hilda

You want an excuse to watch Hilda? Now you finally have one, so go watch it.

Ok, time to give my honest review of this. When they announced that the next part of Hilda series was going to be a Movie i almost cried of emtion and it was worth to do. It is a beautiful story that continued the clifhanger of Season 2 with Hilda converted to a Troll; you can see her fear of how she looks and how her life is changed after that, being a perfect paralel with Hilda's mother; you can also see her complete meltdown and fear to have her away in what they think is a hostile group. Everyone in this mvoie has a reason to be there and try to help in it's way... ones better than others. They respected the voices, the animation and the continuity of the series, thing that is always good specially on a long event like this one.

About that of ones being better is what i want to talk about, some things are very left behind like why no one told Hilda about the Mountain King and the reason of why he was there, she literally asked about it, but the exchanged mother could have told Hilda that he was there way earlier. Ok the movie needs a conflict but could have been told in another way. Also i dislike the captain of the guards, he honestly is a character i disliked in every single second on screen even after he redeemed, that included season 2 completely.

We still have one more season to come, telling us a few more stories about Hilda and her friends, this is a good and not very long adventure to enjoy.

Encanto (2021)

Encantado

I've heard many things about the movie, being a plagiarism of another movie or being a toxic movie (both reasons i don't personally know) but i can say that it is a good movie.

Let's take the obvious thing out, animation is outstanding; it's Disney and nowadays they almost never give a bad animated movie in terms of animation quality, everything is very well animated. Talking about characters, it has a good variety of them taking stereotypes and changing them if the movie needs it, each giving their own shine with their talents. It is also refreshing that we have only one scenario through the whole movie, the last ones had multiple locations and the big adventure was great... but a bit burned, no need to a movie to have a lot of scenarios to have a charming adventure.

My issues... music, i saw it on spanish and sometimes the singing voices were a bit lower than the music, for the exception of 2 songs one being the main song of the movie which you can understand and hear with no problem but the rest of them are way lower than expected. Also the big moments where some sad feelings should be raising up to the surface, they have not all the strenth needed to hit in the spot to make you feel the moment.

Is not bad, not perfect; still can be very well enjoyed, for a good afternoon is certainly a good movie to watch, and sure it is an "Encanto"

Inside Job (2021–2022)

You know every conspiracy? Prove it

Hold yourself if you're very closed minded, or you're part of one of those lovers of conspiracies, this series are not made for some people.

Frist, the concept of the series is great, something that many people keep posting about almost everyday, making everyone tired of such theories transformed into the plot of the series, and aparently they were doing it for longer than expected in their lore. There are 2 characters that steal the show; Reagan and Brett; for Reagan you can see how she likes her job and how hard she tries to be recognized as a genius, but also in her fragile moments where she doubts about everyone around her and slowly getting angrier or upset about things. Brett for the other hand, he's happy and has a slight tragic story; but impossible to hate, he's a good guy. This alongside the plots of the different episodes fit very well, makes you want to think what's going to happen next.

But this isn't perfect, as always there's something that prevents everything of being perfect. In this case is the other characters, most of them are completely unlikeable in some way and for i just wanted sometimes to them to left the screen. The amount of insults per episode is no big deal but sometimes they overload in such a small amount of time that makes no room for almost no other jokes.

Indeed this "inside Job" is very unique, and maybe cool; but be carefull with the walls, they can hear you. A watch won't hurt you, but remember you have to be open of mind.

Kyûketsuki Sugu Shinu (2021– )

Prepare to die... from laugh

Ok, didn't had expectations to this anime at all in the first place... but it really is funny.

Thing that we got used to after years are serious vampire stories; with huge battles, epic moments and overall a classic vampire story. This one is none of that, it laughs completely of the vampires and hunters from the old fantasy books, the protagonist duo is funny to the point that their dynamic of being in a constant fight but still working together is pretty good; the jokes are also good and hillarious. Alongside the variety of characters personality and the voice acting of every single one of them, being also a bit exagerated makes the perfect point of a parody in all of it's shine.

But one thing that kills this is the main joke... the vampire dies in no time and every time they can do. This jokes repeats over and over in each episode, it may be funny but they have to be creative to kill him in every episode in a creative way or we may get tired of that soon than later.

If you want to rest from the classic vampire story, watch this because you can have a good time and huge amount of laughs.

Bandolero (2001–2002)

A childhood story

First of all, i didn't expected this to be here... imagine my surprise seeing this here.

Let's say it, is not a very stunning show; it even has recycled animation most of the time to the point that gets repetitive most of the times. The thing that most sands for is the story, a classic story robin hood style but with their unique characters and personalities mostly with simplistic designs but easy to recognize. They also have great voice acting and great backgrounds each very detailed inside the style given to the story.

But i told it, the show had a very limited animation, recycling shots but with different dialogs, it just doesn't fit; they also reuse plots sometimes, alongside the recycling makes it a bit hard to watch the episodes.

I was very young when this aired for first time, i have beautiful memories of them, if you understand Spanish (or a spanish who wants to revive old times), this is a good show to watch.

Komi Can't Communicate (2021–2022)

She Can't "Komi"-nicate

Like in the Amphibia review, i am sorry about that, but i like to do creative titles for my reviews, even if they hurt.

Ok, this anime were announced in early summer if i can recall with a small teaser trailer and i got stunned by the animation, but i couldn' wait so i readed the manga first and now that it finally aired i can say that this is a very good adaptation. The light, the shadow, the voices we reach to hear... everything fits with the scene and the ambiance they give. They also have a detailed animation for characters that easily change to the less detailed one for comic situations; which are the main point alongside the basic story.

There's nothing bad about this, i didn't gave it a 10 stars because we just have 1 episode at time of publishing this review, if they manage to do it well on the total amount of episodes we'll get then i'll give the deserved 10, but until then it will be 9 and won't go down from that.

Komi is here to make friends, stay with her in the anime to see if she manages to reach her goal and the many things that will happen. A must watch, that's for sure.

The Ghost and Molly McGee (2021–2024)

A curse we won't regret

The last 3 Disney shows are incredibly good and deserves to be loved. And now it's the turn for Scratch and Molly McGee.

First things first, this show is completely stoled by Molly and her optimistic attitude, she's pure enjoy and the first impressions of her are pretty good, Scratch in his side is not as charming as Molly but he do really have good jokes and shines whenever he's with her. Animation and backgrounds look smooth and they change to the situation very well specially when something spooky is happening. The diversity on the characters despite of not being very creative, manages to make them distinguish form each other with none problems; this is well made with the voices of every member of the cast.

But this has to come, a curse must be casted; Scratch attitude even if is setted to be a very grumpy one, sometimes is impossible to keep him in the lovely path. Talking about him, he also has a very tight pronuntiation making some words a bit not easy to understand without subtitles. And final point is some characters, some fell in their own cliches and it's a bit exhausting seeing the same character kind over and over for their secondary cast, i hope they give a complete twist and give us a surprise like in other shows.

I curse you veiwers to see this show from beggining to end and see how it evolves to a posibly bigger show; now jokes of the original name aside, watch it because it's well made and i think anyone can enjoy it.

Sunset Paradise (2021)

The Sunniest Paradise

We most know her and all she's been through thanks to SMG4 YouTube channel, it was indeed a bit needed for what is pressented here.

We follow Meggy, our no-longer a squid who had a problem with her inner self and went to a vacation. I am glad that "Vacation Meggy" went on vacation; this is a cute, funny and impressive adventure. The sound effects, overall animation and decorations look stunning and way different from the previous show "Meta Runner"; which helps to stand out and create it's own cute characters and plots. Voice acting, really worked well here specially for Meggy, Auri and many others, plus the facial expressions they are all unique and lovely (mostly when needed). The plot is a bit simple at first, but grows into something bigger later.

My only issue, models sometimes feel static and not so free to movement; like robots with predeterminated moves and for some more frenetic moves they don't follow as intended; this can turn down a bit the action but still will be tolerated thanks to the points described above.

If you like SMG4, then watch this but be concerned that is different from the YouTube content and also different from "Meta Runner". It is very nice done, Meggy needed this at that Sunset Paradise.

Amphibia (2019–2022)

Frogging Through!

And after that awfull pun that may hurted many of you, it's time to talk about this show and how it grew to what it is now.

It is quite impressive how they managed everything. At first it's the classic story of "human travelling to another world", but as long as episodes run it starts building a bigger plot with it's misteries, jokes, villains and many other things. Besides the overall designs are pretty good and unique for every character, you never see 2 frogs exactly like any other, equaly with any other species, everyone has a unique touch that makes it different from the rest; this applies also to the backgrounds, most being woods they all look different from each other and they try to not repeat them in each scene. Voice acting as in almost every Disney show is magneficent, everyone shines and gives the character the best performance they can get alongside their personalities, you reach to love them and the good work they handle.

But it's time to talk about the other side of the coin. Everything is well done in most part except for some episodes that the speed and the action don't fit; like everyhting is compressed in the 10 minutes episode format and sometimes feel extremely large or extremely short, depends on the episode; thing that doesn't happen in the long duration ones; like in "True Colors", if you still didn't reached this one, you'll understand.

In resume, good story, good humor, good characters. Another proof that Disney can still do good shows and this one "frog" real (really sorry about it)

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic (2010–2020)

Friendship is Indeed... Magic

Almost 11 years since it's original release date (at date of publishing this review) and what a surprise we got here for 9 seasons, 1 Movie, tons of specials and now a 2021 movie release sequel (already reviewed by me)

Where to start? What about the diversity of characters? In many versions before all characters had the same personality, like a copy and paste characters but here they're all of the different, they don't need to have the same over and over, for 9 seasons their personalities being the same also grow slowly into better versions of themselves. Animation besides their tiny errors it's pretty nice, smooth and leads to many different posibilities of animations or poses for them. Music is also good, they normally use classic guitars or similar to those being a good touch for a show like this one. Humor? Take 3 cups, hilarious; almost every joke takes a smile on your face or even huge laugths; depends on how you catch it.

Bad things always have to be there, this time is the first 3 seasons; they're good but repetitive on the final parts, everything about the "Friendship Lessons" get repetitive very soon and you can get the conclusion by your own; thankfull that they got rid of that after season 4 came in.

This is obviously the biggest surprise of the 2010s, a show with a cute cover that grew a warm feeling inside adults hearts creating a huge fandom; if you want to start on this franchise this is where you have to beggin.

My Little Pony: A New Generation (2021)

New Gen for Old Gen and newcomers

We needed gliter, lots of gliter. The first trailers just gave a quick look to them and what it was about and now that we have it... it's all right!

After FIM it was hard to give a new world with new characters, but we're still i the same Equestria as before, but with a tiny twist. Tha plot is simple for younger viewers and has enough references for those that came from G4. The animation qualiy is huge, details like grass, clouds and manes is specially good in all creatures. Musica numbers are another good thing here and a huge evolution from G4, variety of instruments are played between every song and the characters singing voices fit well, giving good vibes; this alongside the voice cast, they do a great job specially for Izzy, Pipp and many other characters so you understand their personalities and attitudes.

Everything good has something not so good, and this time is the predictive plot, is not really that bad but you can see how it will develop; basil MLP stuff that is not awfull to destroy the movie but it's there. There are also a few misteries that aren't solved through the story, but i guess if they do a show after this it may be solved; i don't know if that would happen.

This movie fits right in for the old G4 fans and this will or may grew another Brony Gen that will create tons of content with our new characters; totally recomended.

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe (2021–2022)

The True re-"Master" we needed

Ok Netflix, after making one huge mistake called Masters of the Universe: Resolution you had to make something to redeem yourself... and here we got it.

On first it may look weird with it's 3D models. But very easy to get used to them after episode 2 or 3. The story also is great, it starts from zero presenting you the characters slwoly to the viwer so you can easily catch their names, appearance and personality; with them they also get a development thorugh all episodes; thing that feels natural due to story going on. Battles at beggining they look very clanky and stationary, but gets a bit better when episodes start comming, making action, humor and animation fit well between them.

In the other hand, despite the good animation, voice acting and battles; the show has something for very close up cameras, at least once per episode you'll find this and may be done for.a dramatic touch, sometimes it is uncomfortable. Alongside this it's the transformation animations, they're too long, a thing that She-Ra barely took 15 seconds to fully transform, they can take almost 20.

Old He-Man fans will enjoy this one and also people who don't know He-Man can enjoy it; watch it, give it a try; you have the power.

Q-Force (2021)

The Reality of Fiction

So many people is saying it's bad because it's exagerating, is not what they act, and many other excuses to say it's bad because it focuses on storetypes.

Well obviously is not perfect, but it's totally watchable. Refflects the part of the worl that still thinks that those are not part of the society but they have their own lifes and motives to be part of the Q-force, as comedy it' relies on the exageration of the acts they do (thing that many people said was offensive with no reason at all) which even with this exageration is their strong point giving them a unique personality on the group. And about the action, they know how to plasm a good action scene when it ask for it and the plots related to the agents and the spy plot which is very creative.

Where are the imperfections, first is the Spanish Dub; they try to translate the Queer pronouns but sound... weird and off with the whole sentence (in english sounds good, it's in the Spanish version where this doesn't work at all), also sometimes desings of characters seem very blocky, they shine when they need to (Specially on Twink, who has the most blending desing) but sometimes they just look like LEGO Blocks putted just there; and final bad point it's giving some akward moments, they know they're akward but doesn't help and makes my sight go away from screen.

It's enjoyable of course, it's not perfect, but for enjoy positively you have to turn off the "Is not representative" switch, even if is not representative it could be positive in some way, come on give it a chance to shine.

Centaurworld (2021)

Centaurs... on crack!

This is definetly not for kids, Netflix has a curious way to tell stories meixing a lot of things... this is the best example.

We're introdiced to Horse, who is the one who travels to the other world; that shows a lot of absurd comedy and hilarious moments. But as long the episodes come in, more sad moments start comming and advancing the story we were introduced at first, it does tell the story as they need to in the amount of episodes the show introduces us, it does feel a bit hurried but nothing to worry about.

If i have to say something bad, it's the songs. Sometimes they enter with no warning and they sometimes sound a bit embarrasing (at least for me it does), i ahve to admit that sometimes they will make you laugh but just for the surprise than any other.

This is not a show for kids, it tells a story in a very strange way, has references to many things and at least my language had some bad words. Funny, intense and breathtaking; but most importantly... on crack!

Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)

I watched Space Jam for the first time when i was 5 years old so i have it on my mind with good nostalgic feelings.

But man, how i enjoyed this movie. I've seen many people complaining about the cameos and refferences... but that was a good part too, Ready Player One has a lot of that and no one says nothing bad about it; references and cameos appart, the animation and overall story is good and pretty enjoyable for everyone; classic humor can be seen everywhere with the Looney Tunes and many other jokes told. And the match had such action and intense moments alongside the 3D animation characters that are very good (yeah, that's for the haters of Lola's redesing, she's still good).

But as this had all that good, there was only 1 thing that tooke me out of the movie completely and it was everytime Lola talked... let me explain. In my country (Spain) they decided to cast Lola Bunny with a Star Talent named Lola Indigo... and she breaks the moment that the movie tries to build, fun, sadness or even the speech in mid-time is runined by her Star Talent voice (Zendaya at least did it great, for sure).

Ejoyable? Yes, Good Humor? Yes, Cameos? Yes please! Everything is good... just don't watch it in Castillian Spanish... Lola is a hurt for the ears.

Mortal Kombat (2021)

Fatality!... in a good way.

We're getting more and more video-game movies that are good (some more than others) and i got satisfied with this one.

Mortal Kombat presents the known story from years but with some originality touch with the characters, it gives them more personality within the minutes. VFXs are visually gorgeous, specially in slow moving scenes in which they shine, but if something shines more it's the violence and the bloody scenes, they don't cut them like in the 90s adaptation, here we have blood and even fatalities that are refferences to the games with lots of attention to details. By the way the cast is amazingly similar to the models in-game from most of the characters, very good decisions there with most of performances being good.

Everything good has it's bad side, here there are some decisions that are a bit rushed and makes no sense, like for example the Hanzo's descendant which feels rushed and with no complexity. There's also the "Astral" the energy they need for calling their special abilities and for some is ok, but Jax and Kano is not an excuse.

Good adaptation, just a few things that aren't quite the thing but i can't say they ruin the experience. Depends on hoy you want to see it.

The Quintessential Quintuplets (2019–2021)

Not 1 or 2... Quintuplets and what a 5

Harems these days care more about lot of girls, ecchi and jokes that might don't work... but these 5 really know what we want. We have a guy as always and for our surprise (or not because is in the tittle) 5 sisters... quintuplets, each one with a unique perrsonality that can be acted by the other 4 if they work hard. What was really a surprise is the way the jokes are managed, they're sudden, short and only looking for you to laugth hard at it and they most do because you don't expect how the joke is going to turn. Also it has romantic moments and they know how to give the right mood slowly building their relationships in one way or another and you just want to know more with every episode. There's only one thing we should talk about and it's about the quintuplets, as always live can give you things that you like or things that you don't; some personalities of the 5 might get you upset or wanting to them to walk away off the screen, i'm not gonna say who because what i think is not good other might like. Also protagonist sometimes is dumb... but awfully dumb to the point of saying "For real?" but it doesn't happen very commonly. Very solid anime, with 3 seasons (At date of this review, just announced) i think we have all of a great story to be telled.

Alien (1979)

The 8th Thiller

I've been always told that Alien was a horror movie, but it turns out that this is more like a thriller; let me explain why.

First of all, Nostromo is a very dark spaceship, making the Alien more space to be unseen and when finally you're able to spot him... you're dead, that mixed with all retro makes everything more tense because the tecnology is not very futuristic and can reach failures very easily; some decorations are made like the look of the Alien, so you're not sure where he really is; nearby or far away. The plot twist of one of the members being a robot is very well settled and makes his actions way more intense than if he was human. The planet they arrive is dark and since first second they are in there you just want them to go back and never come back (but there's no movie if that happens).

But not everything is perfect, most of characters are ok but some desitions are just dumb specially when the Alien is on the Ship; ok maybe their fear couldn't make them think more freely... but come on sometimes they could have evaded the danger with simply taking orders as they are said.

As told, i see it more like a thriller and it works pefectly; they didn't needed any screamer to make you jump or to make you feel uncomfortable, the whole design of the movie is very well made and any screams you do... no one can hear them.

Cars 2 (2011)

A Bad Sequel But Not a Bad Movie

How many times in these years people complained about Cars 2 and how bad it was, but i honestly think is not as bad as people say.

This a spies movie on the Cars universe, wich at first may sound crazy and stupid but it works very well with the stablished years of spy movies that came often year after year, gadgets that spies use to accompish their missions and the villains with plans to get rich thanks to another company or product going wrong. This movie even has graphic deaths of characters, from compacted cars to exploding motors, not a single Pixar movie had this before. Mater maybe is not the best character but he certainly is constious about everything he did and feels bad but still be as cheerful as always and that's a relief. Also, villains plan is very creative, something that can happen in real life with no doubt.

But i told, this is a bad sequel, and most of that goes to McQueen wich either learning the lesson he has an unacceptable attitude in the first half of the movie. Also we can see some Deus Ex moments, where something happens because it can and solves the problems at the moment.

Give it a try, is not awful, just underrated. Bad sequel doesn't mean that is a bad movie by itself.

The Meg (2018)

Maybe Meg... but very weak.

Since Jaws everyone wants their own good shark movie, and this was another attempt of that.

It's a simple story of a gigantic extinct shark coming out of his "natural habitat" and well... good things. Visually the shark is amazing and intimidating, just his size can make everyone feel how dangerous that hing is and mixed with the open wide waters makes it even more scarier. That's it; nothing else is good.

It is supose to have tense moments, but most of them are predictable and you can barely say what is going to happen and can actually happen, it's stupid desition after another stupid desition for every second after they first found the meg. Also the meg itself once it's saw completely and how it acts is a giant joke that isn't unable to create fear, only when he's not completely visible is when tension is made but fully seeing it in action... it's a full other thing.

You can have a nice time watching it, but not for people that looks for horror or tension. Just watch on extremely boring days.

The Dragon Prince (2018– )

The Hidden Treasure of Netflix

We all know Netflix, always trying to innovate and get more things to the platform that get enough recognizement, but this show should get even more attention that it has.

It uses a not very liked animation style mixing a 2D lineart with 3D models, but it was the right desition because it makes them shine more, the movement in this style looks more humanized than a totally 2D animation. Music also has a great work behind, every place and moment has it's own music remarking the variety they wanted to show. But if something is truly well done is character writing, every character grows from tiny personalities to big and complex feelings and motives, showing more than only one feeling when they need to; this happens specially on the main cast, the villain and some seccondary characters; everyone with its moment to shine and good humor as well within them.

There's only one problem and it's on season 1, the animation was decided to be a bit slower just to not make them look floaty; but this makes it a bit robotic to look, like a videogame with huge lag. This changed in the 2nd and now it is more likeable to watch at.

This is a must watch, because of its incredible work and effort to tell us a great story that will be told completely. Our heart for Xadia.

Glitch Techs (2020)

The Best Work Any Gamer can Dream of

Captain Amreica would be proud, so many references to catch here and for gamers it would be the best work ever.

Glitch Techs presents a world where glitches instead of breaking the game, they break out of the game causing damage to the real world and it's the work of the glitch techs to stop them from doing that, the episodes has the same structure most of time but it's delightfull thanks to all the references launched to us within the minutes. The glitches work perfectly as intended, presenting them uniquely in every episode. The protagonist duo is very lovely and makes us look for more of them all the time, specially on Miko; the creator absolutely loves Miko and gives her unique angles where she can shine more (working as intended if you ask me).

But what's the problem, because there's always at least one. Here i would say it's stereotypes; even with unique characters there are a few that still hold the same as always like the bully or the annoying one being like tht just because the script says so. And there's one subject that needs to be more developed in the upcoming seasons, but i think they're already doing it.

Parody is one of the most used resources of the time and Spain has the good examples of this and how to do a good adaptation, i wish i could say the same for this movie.

Superlopez presents the classic superman story but in a what if universe, with it's own originality behind, it pressents a very known story that has been told a lot of times in a lot of different ways and also the actors rolling here are very good and offer their best actuation.

Sadly i can't say many more good things, humor is forced, it tries to make laugh and it doesn't work because it's forced in the plot with no context and the VFXs look bad in almost the whole movie like they didn't had enough time time to work on it.

It's a movie to see in a boring evening and alone, it's better to see it by yourself than involving others to see it, it's sad becase we have Anacleto and Mortade & Filemon wich both work very well in the last years.
