Killers of the Flower Moon (2023)
A powerful but uncomfortable story
I had to write a review after reading so many negatives. It seems some of the watchers here can't apprieiciate the real art of storytelling.
Im a empath, which I guess is why it's left me feeling like I do. As a white western male, I'm once again questioning actions of race as I have done repeatably with age. This film has me thinking; if I was alive and in this time, maybe I would be just like them because I haven't learnt the history I know and developed the empathy I have.
It's been a longtime for me to watch a movie that made me feel this way, sat afterwards pondering in my thoughts. Scorsese is one of the greatest directors of my lifetime and for me, this is up there with the rest.
If your open to broader subjects, deeper thinking and enjoy the art of storytelling. This is absolutely for you.
Rattle-Can (2021)
I wanted it to be good...
As a real graffiti/ street artist I wanted to believe this was going to be great. Within the first minute, the artist has no hand style using floor marker wearing crocs.
I skipped abit to see if would I improve but I had to quit whilst I was ahead. Lacked a true reflection on the culture.
The Great Ecstasy of Robert Carmichael (2005)
A dark reality of an english coastal town
I just watched this for the second time since it was publicly released. With movies like this, I think should the rating you give it be based on its darker and disturbing visuals? I don't think it should, it is EXTREMELY DISTURBING and DIFFICULT to watch the end scene but overall as a film I think it captured a some of the essence of poverty in a English coastal town and characters I could relate being born in an English council estate. From a art perspective of the movie; I enjoyed how the camera pans around certain scenes and some frames are fixed from one point, this is complemented with classical orchestra style music. Something I found in other dark films where somewhat pleasant music complementing disturbing visuals can twist your senses between disgust and acceptance. I've always found that interesting and makes it even more difficult to watch with your natural emotion.
I rated the film based on its overall composure on not on the end of the movie but its safe to say, I may never watch it again if I cant shake the memory of the last scene.
