The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022)
Search Party it sure isn't
We get the joke. But it wasn't really that funny. Glenn Close in the loo made me laugh and BTK with the raccoon lamp. Ok a few things made me laugh. But really it was just pretty stupid. And yet I binged the whole thing. Kristen Bell is always watchable (was naming her Anna part of the joke? They should have made her sacred of snow instead of rain) but I'm sure I saw the occasional break from keeping a straight face.
The people saying this is the best satire ever and no one else gets the joke have obviously not seen Search Party (but definitely should!).
Dexter: New Blood: The Family Business (2022)
Use the code to save lives
I saw Harrison's mind ticking over when Dexter said how many kills he's done.
Harrison will use the code to kill dexter and save lives.
It's the only way to get out of a season 2 and a boring incarceration conclusion.
This Is Us: Both Things Can Be True (2021)
I am HERE for...
... a Miguel and Nicky friendship. Both actors were fantastic as they felt out their dynamic in this episode.
8/10 on the cry meter tonight as the Beth and her mum and Beth and Tess scenes really got me in my own daughter of a mum and mum of a daughter centre.
This Is Us: In the Room (2021)
I am just so glad...
... that I have been promised a reboot in 20 or so years because this is my favourite show hands down.
I rate episodes according to whether or how much it made me cry (the more the better!) so my two favourite high rating scenes in this episode were Ellie giving her incredibly difficult speech to Hayley and the realisation of the reason for the scenes of Nasir and Esther. Just beautiful.
My heart is so lifted by the possibilities for Kevin and Randall's relationship. Not just reconciliation but true growth and connection. Welcome to parenthood Kevin!
This Is Us: There (2021)
Only Kevin Pearson...
...Would literally save a stranger's life en route to the birth of his children and still not measure up to his own standards of what a father should be.
It's not incidental that the man whose life Kevin saved is the father of teenagers. The age Kevin was when Jack sacrificed his own "being there". Kevin has given a father back to some kids. He will realise that was a greater gift than being at the birth of his own kids.
Madison is incredibly strong. She will realise that she is in for a life of being let down by a super hero. She will have to decide if her needs are being met by that.
An annoyance: Shouldn't he have his passport in a bag? Would he really have been relying on his state Id to board an international flight? What about digital ids? These are genuinely curious questions, and maybe the next episode will have the customs agent offer one of these solutions.
This Is Us: Birth Mother (2021)
Beautiful
What a reward this episode was. I'm so glad they put all that in one episode and didn't make us wait until next week. Sterling K Brown is magnificent. If only I had a lake I could wade into to let it all out!
