Cold Pursuit (2019)

Was expecting so much more

Liam Neeson has the revenge action/drama flicks down pat by now. The previews of this one made it look like yet another entertaining one of those. It starts off that way, but then gets bogged down with enough side characters and plots that are so uninteresting and boring I found myself looking at my watch a few times. I wonder if a directors cut exists and if it is any better or much worse; my guess would be the latter if it is just more of what was already seen. This really felt like one of those movies where the big name actor shows up for 5 days of filming and then those scenes are sporadically placed throughout the movie. Even the dark humor falls short most of the time. Only a few laughs were heard in a mostly packed theater. The potential was there for this one, but the story fell short.

Read the book, watch the film then hike the trail.

Caught a screening of this movie in Salt Lake City. The Appalachian Trail Conservancy put it on. What a fun movie, Nolte is great in it!! I was quite surprised on how funny he was. Redford and Nolte make a good team. About time a Bryson book got up on the big screen. I wonder how much of an increase in foot traffic there will be on the AT after this movie gets released. I'm sure next summer will be quite a bit busier. If a movie makes me want to go to the location/s it takes place I count that as a great movie. If you are a fan of the book, actors, hiking, nature or have hiked the AT you should enjoy this one. Well worth the visit to the cinema.

Please No More!!

Watched this short animated film on the Feve Spanish trains in Northern Spain. The first time I watched it I thought it was alright, entertaining enough with a few funny parts. Well over the course of two days I saw this well over 50 times. It would play back to back to back to back...over and over and over. I have it damn well memorized now. Hope the creators are getting some money for allowing Feve to play this on their trains. Worth a watch, but not worth seeing 50+ times! Oh, and watch after the credits to see the bird get it's revenge. Now if only I could get my revenge on Feve for subjecting me to 'Big Buck Bunny' each day for hours at a time.

Skate Down Memory Lane
29 January 2011
Ahhhh..nothing like a skate down memory lane from time to time. Back in 1986 I was a skateboarding punk so this was an AWESOME movie to me. Much more so than 'Gleaming the Cube' because in Thrashin' the main story was about skateboarding. However, with time this movie has gone from AWESOME to awesomely bad. It was still fun to watch for me since it was one of my favorites from back in the day. But the clothing, skating and acting is so bad it is almost more of a comedy now. I remember wearing some of that 80's skate/surf neon apparel and when I see the neon look trying to make a come back these days I just ask....WHY!???? If you grew up in the 80's skating this is a fun watch, but if you did not...just skate on by.
