Catering Christmas (2022)
Nauseating to say the least.
I've already lost 30 mins of my life already watching this, it'll be a miracle if I make it to the end.
It's candy coated mush, with little notions of reality for anyone who works in catering let alone who loves fantasy, romantic films and Christmas.
One thing that really struck me, besides the sickly sweet actors, over the top decorations and low grade script was how WHITE it is. Were there no other nationalities or PoC available???
Sorry but in this day and age there are no excuses.
I would avoid this film like the plague and believe me, I love romantic films at a Christmas or any other time of year.
Find something else to watch or make yourself comfy on the couch so you can fall asleep fast.
Heart of Stone (2023)
Wooden acting with good special effects.
I didn't expect much from a continuously wooden Gal Gadot, but I'd hoped Jamie Doran would be able to carry at least some of the film.
I was disappointed however.
The opening scenes are full of tech standard special effects, characters that are so stereotypical it hurts, plenty of fake action stunts and a script that immediately tells you uh-oh I'm gonna loose precious minutes of my life watching this.
Netflix could do better, could pay for decent script writers and better actors but they prefer to throw money at a movie that clearly wouldn't even get to the cinema.
It's a strong NO from me and I was generous giving it a 3 as I wanted to credit the opening titles with a catchy song.
When They See Us (2019)
Must watch!
Finest thing I have watched for a long time. Such fine acting and talent from African Americans, I want to see more please! The story has remained with me since watching the series and I commend the director and co writer Ava DuVernay.
Our Boys (2019)
Absorbing and full of tension.
I can't believe this series has such a low rating on IMDB. The acting is superb, the interpretation of a horrendous series of events in Israel. My heart is in my mouth and I've only watched 3 episodes.
I did read that Israelis were not happy with this series, and for that reason I was curious to watch it. It does give a peek into life in Israel/Palestine, from both perspectives, as uncomfortable as that is.
The writer, director and all the actors should be commended for the quality of this series. Great courage to self reflect.
