L'invité (2007)
A hilarious film, laugh out load funny through most of it, Thierry Lhermitte is fantastic!
This is a fantastic film. The plot is relatively simple, the main character has been unemployed for several years, he does very well in a job interview and now the boss is coming over for a home cooked meal the following night. This leads to hilarious consequences, mostly from their new neighbour who acts as a consultant to help them get the job they so sorely want. L'invite or The Dinner Guest is laugh out load hilarity at many points throughout with the majority of the laughs coming from Thierry Lhermitte's neighbor character- Alexandre, I strongly suggest that you go and see it and am very surprised by all the negativity that has been said about this film. If you have a good sense of humour then you will be in hysterics all the way through. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Dirt: Ita Missa Est (2007)
Brilliant Season Finale for a Brilliant new Show
The Dirt Season One finale really brings everything together fantastically and makes the viewer desperate for the next season already. Discovering that Leo is the stalker was a twist I didn't see coming, unfortunately the one bad actor in Dirt is the character Leo, so while it was a surprise I didn't really care about the characters fate. Jennifer Anniston was brilliant in the episode, totally believable and with brilliant chemistry with Courtenay, I do hope that she returns next season either a (regular) guest star or even as a series regular. The Holt-Lucy storyline which fans so wanted a happy ending was given a part of one. Holt is in love with Lucy, Lucy is probably in love with Holt, and if Jennifer Annistons character has anything to do with it, it will be all over the magazines. The only snag is Julia who tries to kill Lucy, the interesting thing about this is, when her character is told about Holt and Lucy in Jennifer A's office, she says to Julia, you can't drink wine can you- so does this mean Julia is pregnant with Holts child! However I don't think fans should worry about it since it looks like Lucy gave her a good stab in the stomach! Don Conchi was phenomenal a brilliant performance and a brilliant, touching resolution of friendship and what their friendship means between Lucy and Don. The "baddie" and the new "baddie" Brent and Willa respectively, Brent now wishes to sleep with Lucy after seeing her kiss Tina (a kiss that I thought would be a lot hotter!) and Willa who is trying to do a Lucy and I have no doubt, trying to oust Lucy and take DirtNow for herself, can i hear a "bitch!" its been interesting seeing her character start as a meek journalist and turn in to a ruthless, manipulative bitch, it will be interesting to see how it all pans out next season.
This finale was brilliant, the final moments making you wish for more, I am so glad that FX has given this show a Second Season and I hope for a Third and Fourth as well. Dirt is one of the best new shows around, can't wait for Season 2!
Alias (2001)
The best television drama ever!
Alias is a thrilling drama from the mind of JJ Abrams. For five seasons it thrilled the world as in my opinion the greatest drama series of all time. Alias introduced thrilling epic story lines and thrilling twists leaving the viewer in suspense. Especially the season finales which always managed to thrill.
The casting for this show was outstanding. Every single cast member and guest start was perfect and always added to the show. By the end of the series, every single cast member and guest star was brilliant and none of the characters I feel are bad actors. Special kudos goes to Jennifer Garner and Victor Garber. The two main characters have incredible chemistry and truly make this show. Other favourable mentions go to Ron Rifkin and Lena Olin who also steal the show. In season 5, Amy Acker was an outstanding addition, a true gem- if only she had been in the show longer. The same goes for Elodie Bouchez- a true and brilliant addition- it is a shame she was not on the show for longer or in more scenes.
Every episode is emmy worthy and brilliant. Each season gets better and better. Season One the beginning is a better season than many other shows entire series, but is not as good as season 2, 3, 4 or 5. I feel season 5 is the best season- a truly incredible feat of television history.
