Based on a True Story (2023)
What should've been Turns Gross
The trailer was pretty good depicting the story of a broke couple trying to find a murderer In their neighborhood. However, As the show goes on and they then become bffs with that said murderer and get adult peer pressure into having affairs with pregnant women which made the whole storyline even grosser. Despite the great acting I'm giving it a 4 takes a long time-too long of a time, frustratingly-for the true-crime comedy "Based on a True Story" to get to its first laugh-out-loud. It's a comedy but the perverseness of the character's choices just doesn't come through even though the viewer is a liberal.
Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)
Just like the Sanderson Sisters, Disney sucked the soul of Children movies
Why didn't they bring back the original cast? The main characters of Hocus Pocus 1 were not the Sanderson Sisters. It's Max and Danni Dennison.
The entire first movie is all about loving and protecting your sibling. The witches were just the vehicle to display that. The stakes in the first film were so high and they were properly contrasted with the intro where Binx's sister Emily is taken by the witches. This sets the stage for how much Max could lose with his little sister Danni who in the beginning he can't stand to be around and learns that she is more precious than life itself.
This new movie has none of this. This is just nostalgia baiting at best and at worst, poor and lazy writing. There are no stakes.
Honor Society (2022)
A teen TV movie with explicit dialogue
I was shocked at the sexual references in the very first 10 minutes. The dialogue would have you think this movie should be based in college not a highschool. How is this rated TV-MA? This is definitely not for kids.
As for the movie it's mediocre with a typical ending.
How I Met Your Father: Timing Is Everything (2022)
A feel good finale
Despite what happens in the show. Amazing cameo by an OG HIMYM and references to a certain Pineapple Incident.
The cast is solid except for Ellen which is very unfortunate for the actress. Maybe she would be better in a different type of character or show.
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022)
Funny Mock Thriller
A kind of an American "A Touch of Cloth" commenting on this particular drama genre. Nice twist at the end. For the reviewer who hated it when saying don't watch it if you like Community, well, Jim Rash "the Dean" is in this and he was deantastic. I hope he's in the sequel if they do make one.
How I Met Your Father (2022)
Not as bad as the "prolific" reviewers say.
Not as bad as the reviewers are saying on here. Sweet callbacks to the original show which is a big nod to the original and its fans. It's cute and better than half of what's being put on these days. Give it a go.
Edited: gave it two extra stars for the last episode which had an amazing callback and a nice appearance by a HIMYM original.
The Outlaws: Episode #1.5 (2021)
Rani's descend
The fact she goes out of her way for an immoral person, despite lacking virtue herself, and makes the others follow suit really weakened the show's plot.
The Outlaws (2021)
Would have been great
But the protagonist is so awful you eventually stop caring about the community feel that this show wanted to provide. Immoral behavior without a good reason made this series a 5.
Great acting by Walken and Tomlinson.
Ted Lasso: Inverting the Pyramid of Success (2021)
A Ted Lasso Finale: S1 good.
The second season felt unauthentic in comparison to season 1. With inconsistent character development, propaganda storylines, and a soap opera writing, the last episode may have helped keeping the viewer still attached for S3. But does it redeem season 2? Personal answer, no.
If the writers are reading the reviews (not the cashbag producers) Keep S3 genuine.
Ted Lasso: No Weddings and a Funeral (2021)
10 for Ted's story, 3 for the rest
What to happened to the writers of the show? From the lack of chemistry between Rebecca and Sam (it should have been Jamie btw) to the rest of the story line, this show has lost everything the first season built.
Ted Lasso: Man City (2021)
5 for Ted, 3 for the rest
For the 10 star reviewers, are we watching the same show? The genuine feels of this show is almost all gone except for Ted's storyline in this episode. The rest feels forced and almost unnecessary especially Sam's storyline. Who on earth wanted that to happen? It felt so uncharacteristic of the way some people were behaving this entire season.
For the show as a whole, and up until now, I took a star out of the actual 10 .
Only Murders in the Building: Who Is Tim Kono? (2021)
How is this rated more than 5?
Terrible acting from filler monotone Selena Gomez to the point where you can't even try to care about her history.
Only Murders in the Building (2021)
Missing Chevy Chase
Would have made this series a much better one. It would have also been a bit more watchable had the role of Gomez been don by a better actress.
Ted Lasso: The Signal (2021)
Would have been a 10 if it wasn't for the first 5 mins
But so far, Ted Lasso as we knew it seems to be back.
Ted Lasso: Rainbow (2021)
One of the better episodes this season
Despite some typical HW propaganda sprinkled in there, It was in the league of S1 goodness.
But sad to see Nate's character getting worse and worse with every episode. It's almost unbearable to have him on screen.
Ted Lasso: Carol of the Bells (2021)
T'is the season to be Jolly? No no no. Cute but the shilling is still there.
It was nice but you can tell whoever wrote the episode wrote it because they had a story to tell and not because the characters had those decisions to make. There were some very uncharacteristic behaviours and that ending was probably cringier than Roy's niece.
Tis the off season.
Ted Lasso: Do the Right-est Thing (2021)
Can't write for 13 year old? Football lost its life.
And what was with the 40 year old man sounding 13 year old girl? I really hope the show doesn't continue like this.
Years and Years (2019)
Hitlerian propaganda
To its followers in the left which sadly I'm a part of. Took a show to see what's wrong with these political parties to get me out of them. Great actors ruined by a propaganda script.
Ted Lasso: Goodbye Earl (2021)
Forced
S1 was organic and this first episode lacked soul. And it had nothing to do with the dog but whatever core they had in the first season was strongly missing. I do hope it returns though.
Mr & Mrs Murder (2013)
Netflix or any streaming service should pick this up
It's humorous and the witty banter is something we need more of. Great show.
Invasion (2005)
How was this cancelled? Netflix Bring it back!
HBOmax or Paramount+ need to get on it. It was a great show with a brilliant premise. Will humanity adapt or will they keep fighting?
Friends: The Reunion (2021)
Terrible Host
And no Paul Rudd. Also, Chandler did have a job title you can check it on the Graham Norton Show. The OG cast is great , wish they didn't have irrelevant people like Mindy Kaling and Lady Gaga.
PS, If you're looking at the reviews, don't be surprised to see repeated paragraphs. We know how HBO's Doin'.
Dead Last (2001)
One of the best TV shows. NETFLIX get on it!
A remake with the original cast too. Hollywood and Netflix keeps remaking things that turn out to be useless but forget about TV gems like this. Drama, thriller, and comedy all rolled into one to make this amazing series.
Army of the Dead (2021)
As usual, Netflix's army of rankers give it 10's
Enjoyable movie even if it's unoriginal. Would have been a 7 had politics and cutting D'elia out of the movie been not involved.
Unforgotten (2015)
Season 1 Woke for white folks
The first season tried so hard to put all woke topics into one contrived story. Racism, underage sex, homophobia... etc. The story itself was really good had it not been for the in your face screen writing. Things are never black or white but these types of modern drama tries to tell us so.
