The Marksman (2021)

Awful
31 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I would have rated it lower than 1 of 10, but they don't offer that option. Truly dreadful story line, attempting to make pathetic, unrealistic tropes in support of an open border. I live in Texas. The cartels and the border violence is real. Example - I have never seen nor heard of any Texas Highway Patrolmen involved in anyway with cartels or organized crime; none. Why include that as part of the story?

Not Quite What I Expected

Beautiful, awful, inspiring and tragic story from beginning to the end. A movie filled with flawed, but incredible human characters, each wonderfully acted and poised. Excellent entertainment.

Pick a New Hero
8 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Pick a new hero, this one is dead. Completely and totally disappointed in this effort. An incoherent and jumbled mess of a film. I couldn't understand most of what Rami Malek was saying. I don't think it would have mattered.

When I retired from the service, someone else over my job. There wasn't a need to kill me off in order to do so. Complete trash. Watch something else, like paint drying or the wind blowing.

Well, at least we still have John Clark, oops!

Not Tom Clancy
11 May 2021
I was very excited to finally see my favorite Tom Clancy book and character make it to the big screen. I was also excited to see the Michael B. Jordan version of John Clark. The first two versions of Clark in Sum of All Fears and Clear and Present Danger did not work in my opinion. However, the character of Clark in this movie is no where in any of Clancy's work. No where. This is not the Clark that was created in the book "Without Remorse." Why did they create this mess? Why? Did they think the material is dated? Why even link this material to Tom Clancy? It might have been a half-decent movie, if I hadn't been so excited to see Clark come to life, to only see this unimaginable and indescribable bomb. I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone, especially anyone who loves the Jack Ryan/John Clark characters.
