A Teacher (2020)
Not Great Not Bad
I didn't care for the lead female actress. In my opinion she wasn't believable in her physical appearance for the role. Also her character was far too sullen, unhappy & downtrodden throughout the entire story. I had a hard time buying her character & her lack of emotions for one who's in love or riding the wave of lust and love but nevertheless I watched all episodes because I found the story intriguing. The lead male actor did a good job & most of the supporting actors were good too. I agree with another reviewer that this story would've been better suited for a 2 hr movie rather than a series.
Romeo and Juliet (2014)
Nothing to Like
I'm a big fan of romantic dramas & I do believe there is room for many adaptations of the same story. This is a terrible adaptation of Romeo & Juliet. Where do I begin? There is zero chemistry between the actors, terrible acting from most of the cast, repetitive awkward moments with the script & between the actors, visually unappealing cinematography & costumes. I forced myself to watch to the end to give it a fair chance but unfortunately the movie never improved. There is nothing positive I can say about this movie. One of the worst movies I've seen. I don't recommend this movie, try one of the other adaptations.
Romeo & Juliet (2013)
Loved This Movie!
I don't understand the bad reviews. I love romantic dramas & I've watched many. I absolutely loved this movie, much more than the 1968 version which I find too be cheesy acting for most of the supporting cast of that movie & boring cinematography. The story in this version moves along at a good pace & kept me interested. I thought the characters/actors in this version were more enjoyable to watch. The acting was great, costumes beautiful & many of the location settings had depth & were beautiful too. I think too many are being snobby about this version. I've watched it several times & have enjoyed it every single time. It's a beautiful love story adaptation; give this movie a fair chance. My only complaint is that (apparently) the director/production(?) caved into public pressure to not show nudity so the love scene could've been a bit edgier but regardless it's very well done.
Bed of Roses (1996)
So disappointed
I have no idea why there are so many good reviews. This movie was predictable, slow, bad story line, cringy acting, zero chemistry, boring script, beyond disappointing. The acting was forced, predictable & not even remotely convincing. I love Christian Slater but this movie did him no favors. Without going deep, I hated this movie & it was all I could do to watch it to the predictable & boring end. The only good thing was the theme song.
The Resurrection of Gavin Stone (2017)
Unexpectedly loved it!
This movie was refreshingly entertaining. The acting, story line & overall production were all good. Sometimes you just have to get past complicating a feel good movie & being overly critical by comparing it to a multimillion dollar Hollywood production. The movie used some comedy in the cheesy parts which I really liked how that was done. It was a great message & family friendly. All movies don't have to be big Hollywood productions with slick locations, overpaid actors & unrealistic story lines, which honestly, I'm so over it. This was a down to earth movie with a realistic message of grace.
The Beguiled (2017)
Boring, slow & disappointing
This movie was awful in so many ways. I'm not familiar with the book & I haven't seen the older version. I found the outdoor cinematography to be pretty in many ways but it was extremely repetitive & boring. The story line was boring, the script was boring, the ending seemed rushed, unrealistic & disappointing. My tv brightness was adjusted to the highest level but the darkness of the way this movie was filmed, made me not enjoy it. It was a struggle to see what was going on throughout the film. There was no character depth, wardrobe was boring & the set/background was too dark. Everything about this film was boring & uninteresting. There's literally nothing about this movie that I enjoyed. I love historical romance dramas & I don't even mind mediocre acting, but this movie was a waste of time.
Emerson Heights (2020)
Terrible acting, zero chemistry
Couldn't get past the first 10 minutes, the acting is awful & there's no chemistry between the main characters in my opinion.
