Manhunt: UNABOM (2017)
Fascinating Detective Story
The best part of this drama is the excellent story telling by the writers. It kept me on the edge of my seat. Although we all know how the story ends there is more than enough good content to keep you interested throughout. The production was first rate.
In an age when people are regularly "convicted" in the media with no defense, this story will bring you back to center with the reality of how much work it really takes to bring someone to justice. My 14 year old was transfixed throughout. This film really brought home a lesson I have tried to teach her concerning how special it is to live in a country where the police can't just knock down your door. In the vast majority of the world the authorities don't need a warrant.
Our FBI works tirelessly and on pennies. You can clearly see why in this series.

Imagine a great painter - a master if you will. What if he or she only painted 3 or 4 works in their career but their work was adored by millions? Angelo Pizzo is like that. His first screenplay, Hoosiers, was widely acknowledged as the best sports movie ever made (because, of course.. like Rudy, it's not about sports). It took years for Rudy to follow but it was worth the wait. Years after Rudy, Pizzo wrote The Game of Their Lives (renamed to The Miracle Match). If you loved Rudy, make a point to see these other films. You will love them.
This film is about the human heart -- it's about character, hope and dreaming. It has a lot of good lessons to teach us. All young athletes should view this film -- if I were a coach of any sport, I would show this film to my team. You will stand up and cheer.
This might be the late Jerry Goldsmith's best original score, in my opinion..
Miami Vice: Stone's War (1986)
Testarossa TV
Lt. Castillo to Sonny: "It's out back"
A month without the Daytona has Sonny a little antsy. After complaining to the boss that he can't show up for six figure drug deals looking like Lil' Abner (with some ordinary car) Sonny finds his new patrol car out back - a white 1986 Ferrari Testarossa - marking this episode as a classic forever. Earlier in the episode Sonny picks up a friend at the airport who quips at his truck -- "where's the Ferrari?".. nice foreshadow..
Bob Balaban also makes this an interesting episode with a long career as a character actor. G. Gordon Liddy rounds it out.
