Moon Knight: Asylum (2022)
Completely Unexpected
Marvel has been swinging and missing lately but this episode brought us back to the incredible heights it can achieve. They gave us a reason to CARE about this character. They gave us something to relate to. Absolutely brilliant idea to use such a unique plot device to unravel Marc's backstory. I will anticipate any upcoming Moon Knight show/movie because of this episode alone. Awesome.
American Crime Story: Man Handled (2021)
Brilliant but simple
Best episode of the season. The writing is top-notch with powerful tension and complications between relationships. Almost felt like a bottle episode with one small set being used for most of the episode, but the acting and dialogue kept the interest alive for sure. Awesome stuff.
Loki: The Nexus Event (2021)
Give Owen Wilson an Emmy
I have never seen a more layered performance than Owen Wilson in a marvel production. The man sold every line and every face. The episode also had great reveals and plenty of plot to reel me in. Just awesome.
WandaVision: We Interrupt This Program (2021)
If you weren't hooked yet, you are now.
This episode complete changes course and puts a whole new perspective on the show. We all have been waiting for the show to provide real stakes into what all is happening, and it does so in a way no one expected. Well Done!
This Is Us: Strangers: Part Two (2020)
What this show does best
This finale delivers on all levels! All the lead up is paid off (somewhat), including the main story arc of Rebeca's clinical trial. This episode brings many storylines into one explosive scene that hits emotionally in a very unique way. This show continues to manage multiple generations, stories, and plots without turning into a huge mess, as this episode could have easily been. But they deliver once again! As always full satisfaction is not guaranteed as we get even more teases into the future of the Pearson clan that leave you wanting more, but you will not deny the thrill-ride experience as the credits roll for the last time in Season 4.
This Is Us: After the Fire (2020)
The emotional tipping point
This before-the-finale episode sets up the audience to expect a tumultuous season ending. We explore Randall's world of "what-ifs" including what would life have been like if Jack never died. The whole episode builds up to an ending decision that can easily be deemed as the center point of this three episode arc. The finale is sure to show the reactions of the whole Pearson clan reacting to this decision. As far as the episode, we get plenty of callbacks and Easter eggs from all 4 seasons of this show. We explore the psyche of Randall like never before, even in ways that are not so flattering for the character, but still relatable. This episode serves as a great kindling for what can only be presumed to be an explosive ending of Season 4.
This Is Us: New York, New York, New York (2020)
Final Stretch to the Season Finale
First episode of three to end the season. This one is definitely a setup for more to come. New York City is the theme as we see different points of time when the Pearson's have traveled there. Without spoilers, we see Randall and Kevin's very different viewpoints of their mom and how to care for her. Both brothers are very active in the plot, making very true-to-character decisions that bring us to a very visceral climax. If you are familiar with these characters, you will wince and even cringe at the clashing of some characters, which is of course a positive, as these characters continue to be well-written with plenty of flaws, priorities, and inner-conflict shown through the writing. Nothing too special about the episode but shouldn't disappoint.
Doctor Who: The Timeless Children (2020)
Has to be undone.
I made an IMDb account specifically so I could spread the word of how awful this episode was. Undermining everything that made this show special. What Doctor Who really is: A time lord who simply stole a Tardis and travels around saving planets and stopping monsters. The Doctor made himself who he was, he wasn't supposed to be born super important like this. It buried everything the Doctor has done on his own. Awful. Shameful. If you want to keep your love for Doctor Who pure, avoid this episode at all cost
