Susan Hayward Plays ANOTHER Historical Person She Probably Didn't Look Like dn't
24 January 2021
One of my favorite actors of all time, Gregory Peck, plays King David and Susan Hayward is Bathsheba in this 1950's Bibical epic. It was the Golden Age of Hollywood, when actors didn't have to look look like the people they portrayed (2 of the best examples of this is when John Wayne played Genghis Khan in the movie The Conqueror and Sean Connery played Roald Amunsen in The Red Tent).

Genghis Khan (1965)

This was pretty good!

I stumbled across this obscure movie earlier today and it was a pretty decent film. Based on the life of Genghis Khan, it's a little bit too scampy on the script but the scenery and music are gorgeous, and you can't go wrong when Bob Simmons (the early James Bond films) is your stunt coordinator. Omar Sharif gave a good performance, but I kept getting distracted by Stephen Boyd every time he appeared onscreen (mainly because in this movie he looks A LOT like a young Timothy Dalton, which is not a problem for me since I'm a big Dalton fan). The only performance I had a problem with was James Mason's campy Chinese ambassador. All in all, not a bad way to spend a couple hours.

Mission: Impossible (1966–1973)

Best TV Spy Show Ever!
18 December 2020
From 1966 to 1973, The world was introduced to the Impossible Missions Force, an elite American espionage agency that protected the free world from Communists, Dictators, and American Gangsters. The group consisted of disguise experts, femme fatales, engineering geniuses, strongmen, and team leaders. There were also people in various fields that supported the team when needed.

The plots were wonderfully complex and exciting, the femme fatales had beautiful wardrobe collections (particularly Cinnamon Carter, played by 3 time Emmy winner Barbara Bain), the gadgets would make Q green with envy, and basically everything else was terrific.

IMHO, Mission Impossible is the best Americam spy series ever (with the British spy series Spooks aka MI5 coming in a close second).
