Painkiller Jane: Playback (2007)
One of the worst....
Okay so this is not the best show when it comes to continuity, content, or creativity but this episode was just stupid. I get the whole ground hog day rip off of repeating time. I would have been fine with it. But it makes no sense for somethings to repeat and not others. Like Jane being alive again but the button on Conner's shirt being missing. I can even fall behind the school of thought that the button since it fell in the Nuero's pocket and was in his time loop bubble was therefore left out of the looped equation. But, when they looped the second time around, the button was no longer in his pocket and outside his little time loop bubble. So why was it still missing?
John from Cincinnati (2007)
Perfect even in the ending
I'm usually highly disappointed in the way shows (especially shows cut short) end. but this one was perfect. It was perfect in the way it began, in the way it built up and in the way it ended. I know people who love this show think it ended too soon but i think the story went as far as it should and anything more would have been taken away from it. It really was more of a miniseries than an actual TV series.
What i loved best about this show is that it never made an attempt to explain itself. To explain anything from the big like where John came from, where John went to the little like the dialogue between the Hawaiian and Freddy's associate. it just laid it all out like a documentary.
And although the above attribute was great for all ten episodes what made each episode enjoyable to watch and re-watch is the lyrical dialogue. the different voices of each character and the flawed beauty of even minor characters that we get to know and love.
a lot of people complain that it is just a tribute to the creators own vision/religion. And it may be that. I'm not denying it. But i say bring it on. Let's take a trip down someone's subconscious and see what it makes us feel.
Battlestar Galactica: Dirty Hands (2007)
The reason why BSG is set apart
this episode showcased the reason why BSG is set apart from any show like it, or even unlike it. it not only has a running story line, mythology, relationships, etc., but it makes ever effort not to sugarcoat life. it tries to highlight every issue that's relevant.
This was one of the best episodes because it highlighted some of the very important but smaller characters. i like the way BSG takes a break from the larger story lines once in awhile and examines certain issues. of course i watched most of BSG on DVD one after the other so i might have more patience than someone who watched it week from week.
i hate this fraking minimum word thing...i said what i want to say and it makes me babble on and on.
Without a Trace: Check Your Head (2006)
The funniest episode ever.
This has to be the funniest episode of Without a Trace i have ever seen. first with the whole the azn dude from Heros with the physical comedy and the accent...absolutely hilarious. and then the mobsters and the lesbians and the "that's amore" and jack and danny singing it at the end. it was amazing.
The acting in it was great although i was wondering about the martin drug problem thing because in the last episode before this one, danny confronts him about it and then nothing.
i have to agree with the user above, i could totally see Joss Wheedon directing this episode. see this is why i keep watching WAT because it'll be bad for awhile and then they'll throw in an absolutely perfect episode. it kind of reminds me of the later seasons of X-Files.
Hitman (2007)
Just Horrible
I wasn't expecting an epic, i was going in for a hot girl, and good action. I found neither. This is one of the CHEESIEST pieces of crap i have ever, ever seen. the acting was really horrible. i didn't have much of a hope out of 47 or the whore but i loved Robert Knepper in Prison Break and even he wasn't that great in it.
It's not so much the fault of the actors though, every other line in the movie was predictable and camp. I think the writers went on strike a little early. No plot twists, no good action sequences, nothing good.
Honestly if you are dying to see this movie either get a bootleg copy or just wait till it's on Spike late night.
If i had actually spent 10.75 to go see this movie, i would have demanded my money back.
The X Files: Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose (1995)
Definitely one of the best X-Files episodes ever
Peter Boyle was amazing in this episode and the way Moulder was almost like a little kid absolutely amazed. It was adorable. A very fun episode to watch.
Peter Boyle is always amazing in everything he does but in this episode in particular he gets to act in a very unusual role while maintaining his crazy old man who's adorable in an annoying way and of course just a little bit creepy.
Like the guy above me said, i don't have much else to say except that even if you aren't into the X-Files, this episode will make you want to watch at least a few more episodes.
