DogMan (2023)

Caleb swings and hits...

A wonderful movie that I did not expect to warm to. This is not the type of film I usually watch. To be honest I caught a clip of it via social media and decided to watch a few minutes of it. I was pleasantly surprised.

Basically it tells the story of a man and his dogs, the highs and lows of his life that created a bond so strong with his 'babies' and all the struggles he faced along the way.

Some may have issues with it, especially as it involves animals, well, dogs! But the way the dogs are incorporated into the movie really connects you. And Caleb's performance and acting skills really moves you. Maybe to tears.

Caleb's storytelling gives you enough key points so that you are familiar with all the contexts of his life and how he ended up sitting in a room talking to a psychology doctor.

Great movie, well worth watching, you'll start and end up finishing.

Mindcage (2022)

What in the world did I watch?

Much like this line at the beginning of the movie, "Just because he's a priest don't mean he can't lie Mary" and then nothing ever became of it, the rest of the movie was infuriatingly bad. Bad script, bad acting, actors I wanted so badly to do well as I admire them from other titles.

I knew even from the first time that Jake and Mary drive together, and that fake as hand on the steering wheel and driving scene, that this movie was going to be bad. The doctor doing the autopsy who had no idea what to do with his hands - I'll hold them here so I look like a great actor, sheesh!

Anyway, I'm not sure what else to say except for, don't bother watching it, I suffered for you so you don't have to lol. This hideous mashup copycat of well known titles is just dreadful.

Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)

Unfortunately this was not a great movie, I'm a huge Marvel fan but this was disappointing. Too many jokes, not funny, goofy Thor, too much Korg, Jane somehow worthy of Valhalla, overuse of the goats, overuse of GnR. Valkyrie is cool, but is Queen not cool enough? The tale of the two dads, ok we get it. I was also confused by the we can all be Thor's now. I though Thor is Thor. The God Butcher with Bale leading the part was cool but not enough time on screen. And were there any notable Gods that he butchered? And the Zeus part, just ridiculous! Imagine if it was Tessa's clothes being blasted? Outrage!

Anyway, I think going by a ton of other reviews, you get the drift.

Blush (II) (2021)

Emotional rollercoaster filled with beauty

Thank you for bringing this short animation to the world. I loved watching it, and I think you cry, or nearly cry due to it hitting a note somewhere in your life. It takes you to what you lost or what you want to hold on to, or even what you are thankful for or taking for granted.

Excellent animation, story, characters, and music. I truly enjoyed the colour scheme and drawing style used.

Inspirational, sad, interesting and a tragic story. There are a few new things I learned about Noriyuki from this story. Thank you to those involved for bringing this to us.

It was a good enough movie to watch on your home screen, with snacks, and picking out some boo boos in the film. It is a French style comedy with a Van Damme style. I watched it on Netflix with the English dub which seemed a little off and strange because I'm not used to it. It probably would have been better to hear the original voices with subtitles then you can get more of a sense of each scene.

Overall, thank you for making it and making it available for me to watch while I am in lockdown! :)

Mortal Kombat (2021)

It was ok, entertaining to a point, and great special effects!

Some of the acting was atrocious, saved by Sanada and Taslim. The movie may have been better if it focused more on Scorpion and Sub Zero perhaps?

The new made up character, Cole, was total nonsense and not needed. Just rubbish, along with his powers. Poor Goro and his tiny starring role, killed off so easily by this noob. Kung Lao was awesome! Oh and Kano constantly swearing, what for? Kano was better than that. The story line all over the place, it was like I was watching a bunch of trailers put together. And no actual tournament???

I gave it a 6 because of the cool memories it brought back, and the awesome special effects, and Sanada and Taslim.

Sorry, this was the episode that made me finish with the wonderful Mrs Brown. Was great, now not my cup of tea, bring back the usual, not this guest starring nonsense.

I thought I could not get past the first 10 to 20 minutes like some of the lucky souls who reviewed this movie, but I thought, no, I'll give it a chance and carry on the end. Unfortunately, the movie did not get any better, possibly worse.

The rude, obnoxious, potty mouth kid who cussed all over the movie is what really ruined it for me. I can't believe Ed, Taraji, and David agreed to do a film like this. I seriously hope this kid is not remotely like this in real life. Other than this, it wasn't that great a script, and only really about 2 or 3 funny moments.

Whoever gave the green light at Netflix for this movie needs to redeem themselves and have it taken off the Netflix library!

Sonic the Hedgehog (2020)

Great family show

Not bad at all. I am glad about the redesign of Sonic and he was portrayed well here. Fun and colourful movie for the whole family.

Ip Man 4: The Finale (2019)

Donnie Yen in a sea of racism

Donnie at his usual greatness, awesome fight scenes and great dialogue involving the Chinese scenes. I am sad to see the end of the IP Man era but it had to end somewhere. What I found terrible was the amount of propaganda and racism shown.

I know it was a time when it was rife but lets not go overboard, a splash here and there is enough, the audience aren't stupid. We're not going to get riled up, take sides and start riots.

Also, the acting was fine on the Chinese side, I felt relaxed and it was a comfortable ride, but when the American acting appeared, holy kaka it was cringey! So bad, and what the heck is up with Billy? This was Vanda''s first film and even she was better than most of them. Anyway, I still loved the film and appreciate the entertainment value.
