Ardhangini (2023)
Simple, bold a realistic
After a long time, there is a bengali movie that refreshens your intellect. Not like the pseudo-intellectual movies that are being made now a days. The actors have done a beautiful job in keeping the element of drama upright! The face-of between Shubra and Jaya leaves you thinking about who is right and who is wrong. The film does exceedingly well in depicting how it becomes a habit for a man to easily deny his faults and put them on his better half. This is a common example in the society the we live even today. On the contrary, women, tend to (are expected to) behave normal to keep up the respect of the family. Shubra, being the divorce, had the magnanimity to do everything required to save his ex-husband. The ending leaves you spellbound, after whatever she did for her ex-husband, did she deserve that?
Gulmohar (2023)
Great performances with Great dialogue delivery
The movie is a family relationship drama. Spell binding performances from Manoj Bajpai, Sharmila Tagore and Amol Palekar. Cinematography is very nice, right from the start of the movie, the tone of a family drama is set. Music also compliments the theme of the movie quite nicely. The film highlights the modern day family issues from a different aspect. Makes you think about your own family. The script holds tight through out the movie. Dialogue delivery has been very well executed, some credits to the director there. Its a must watch for every Indian family to go back to our roots from the daily hustle-bustle.
Pathaan (2023)
John, John and only John!!
The only good thing about this movie was John Abraham. Movies like this get a very grand opening but fade away pretty soon. Pathan was a success because of the following reasons:
A. Shahrukh Khan coming in big screen after such a huge gap.
B. A cheap and masaledar song which looked very cheap and vulgar in the name of sensuality. Yes we still have that audience who have the capability to make a movie a hit just for a song.
C. Too many number of shows, Every multiplex was showing this movie in at least 2-3 screens all throughout the day. I remember, this was the same strategy to make Ra-One a hit.
The Romantics (2023)
An unwanted documentary.
Starts off well with the story of Adi Chopra, his fascination about films, how he kept track of the box office in his early age, but losses track by just bragging about DDLJ and other stuffs. Should have been more informative about film making and Indian cinema. Indian cinema is way broader than just romance which was shown by Yash Chopra. Yash Chopra ji is undoubtedly the best at romance everybody knows that. We don't need netflix to tell us about that, there are many other better interviews of Yashi ji on the same topics that have been covered here. Why would someone pay Netflix to see this? The only selling point I could find is Netflix Interviewing Adi Chopra for such a long time.
Monica O My Darling (2022)
Worth a watch
You decide to watch this considering the star cast, expecting some high class drama. The movie fails to deliver that. Talking about the Acting, it is just above average and story line somehow manages to entertain. Rajkumar is awesome as usual but you would expect more from Huma and Radhika. Radhika Apte was fun to watch though. Dialogues Could have been better. Cinematography is very nice. The old songs did not justify the several action sequences. Near the end, the story becomes predictable. Overall a onetime watch. Movie lags from an entertainment point of view. Netflix is showing desperateness by bringing these kind of movies.
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
Not upto the mark
As a Jurassic World fan you expect more. The movie feels like its made for the sake of any formality or so. The special effects and cinematography could have been better. Storyline was good but lacked execution through the performances. The 3d visual effects were good though. All in all a one time watch.
Attack (2022)
Time pass above average
Go ahead and watch if your are looking for a super action movie with sensible sequences. John as usual is very dashing and delivers a promising performance. Story is quite old school but the sci-fi twist makes it gripping. This is a start of a series watch out for the next volumes, it looks promising.
Mithya (2022)
Very impractical and average
Storyline is very weak. Characters revolve around their sticky past. Performances are just average. Cinematography too is not that great. Darjeeling should have been shown more brightly. The truth and lie war us never won by anything. The makers just hide the truth from the audience to create unnecessary thrilling experience.
RRR (Rise Roar Revolt) (2022)
Most Overrated Movie of this year
One should not be expecting much from the movie. Its just a typical masala movie. Actors are average as is the storyline. After the interval.. the movie feels too lengthy. Look for better options rather than wasting 3 precious hrs of your life.
Sunflower (2021)
Not so exciting
You decide to give this series a watch after seeing the promising trailer and star cast only to be disappointed. Story tries to bring of different reflections (problems) of the society but fails to address them satisfactorily. In the end you are bored to continue watching. Sunil Grover is not doubt very good with his acting skills. Worth a one time watch though. The open ending could have been directed in a better way.
Maharani (2021)
Slow and boring
After seeing the series, it feels like a movie has been dragged to prepare a TV series and that too in a rush. Below average acting and average plot. Despite having superb star cast, the series fails to keep you glued. The fake bihari accents of the actors is like a pain.
The Illegal (2021)
True reality of overseas workers
This film is about the struggles and challenges faced by overseas workers during their struggle to establish themselves abroad. The story is harsh and real. There are a lot of people who sacrifice a major chunk of their lives to bring some happiness, or even basic necessities to their families. Moving to a totally different country and surviving there is not so easy as regular bollywood movies show.
Ludo (2020)
Life as you see
The movie is a bliss to watch. It's a comedy movie, partly dark in nature. Characters revolve around the regular fights which we see in life which makes you think. Comic timings are great. Acting is superb. Pankaj Tripathi and Rajkumar once again at their best. Life is a circle with ups and downs the movie makes you realise this.
Pagglait (2021)
Give it a chance to watch
The movie picks up a very different issue. Girl is widowed at an early age. The lack of seriousness during intense scenes makes you feel that this movie was made in a hurry. The comedy scenes are nicely done. Acting performance is good but could have been better. The movie tries to make up with a very happy but unrealistic ending. Over all its a good one time watch.
Bahut Hua Sammaan (2020)
Hillarious
One must appreciate the story writer for such a hillarious script. Lovely execution of a not so lovely bank loot plan. Sanjay sir is amazing as usual. Ram kapoor is also decent with his more serious character. The punches are good with great comic timings. Each and every character has done a decent job to make the movie a must watch.
Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare (2019)
Not upto the mark
The story revolves around some serious issues yet fail to address them. Acting is too lame. Considering the star cast and topics, the audience expects more powerful performances.
Pariwar (2020)
A movie broken into a webseries.
Its a comedy movie which was broken into a web series, accept some flaws in return for a good script. Good comic timing of each and every character. Vijay sir is great again. Movie becomes predictable after the first half but still enjoyable. You will love the songs that play at the end of each episode.
Halahal (2020)
Badly executed
The film tried to show practicality but failed during execution. The story starts well but loses track in the middle. The twist at the end could have been shown in a better way. It all ended so abruptly by just trying to join the dots anyhow.
Class of 83 (2020)
A nice watch
The story is good and to the point. Holds you till the end. Bobby Deol does a descent job with his average acting skills. Overall its a good movie to watch.
Inkaar (2013)
Bold! Harsh! Real!
Both characters find it hard to kill their ego and express their love for eachother. This is so common in modern day lifestyle. Very beautifully created and portrayed. Acting is superb and the story is also good. This movie keeps you glued.
Axone (2019)
Good story and acting
The story sticks to such a serious issue yet it entertains you. The comic timings of the characters are great. Well attempt by Sayani with a more than satisfactory performance. The people of North East are one of us, this movie makes us realise that and we should be ready to accept them.
Chippa (2019)
Must watch for every Calcuttan
Very simple and touching story of child in search of his father at his 10th birthday. A soulful tale of child and his journey of a night where he meets people of different class. The story depicts the real situation of the society and how people of different class live in the city of joy together.
Made in Heaven (2019)
Watchable but Could have been better
There are better stories to be told than the ones which are written for the Online Contents nowadays. Content Writers (sellers) find a good escape from the censor board to show their bold & original (so-called) stories which are nothing but the same old ones with some extra-masala. Honestly, some times that extra boldness or highlighting the same old problems of the society again & again, is almost irrelevant.
#MadeInHeaven
Messiah (2020)
Read it out and think!
Again the same old formula to get another series stacked in their list by the name of #Messiah on #Netflix
Put the same old recipe together, show some cross-country secret agency tie-ups, intelligence agents running away from their dark pasts, unnecessary violence and intimacy, agents breaking protocols, captivating endings of the episodes, some baseless twists in the climax, some obvious nail biting sequences with an abrupt and irritating open ending.
The writers tried to play it smart with this one, to make it appear different, by bringing in the Messenger stuff but failed to do so. The content looked like another of those same old web series based on terrorism.
Gulabo Sitabo (2020)
Simple yet touching
A beautiful tale of some crazy people and their fight for an old Haveli.. Another must watch from Shoojit Sircar.. The story is so simple yet touching, makes you think who is right and who is wrong. Music is great and the cinematography is also very nice. The inner beauty of Lucknow city is depicted truly.
