Minari (2020)
Simple but complicated?
I think this script has three perspectives.
(A) Stories of immigration hardships.
(B) Christian / Western perspectives.
(C) Confucian /Oriental perspectives.
The script, which is a mixture of (A)(B)(C) perspectives, ends in "Family unity".
Awesome elaborate script!!
This wonderful simple script have also metaphors and symbols which not easy to understand.
I suppose some cinephiles will challenge analyze this film desperately.
I guess one of the reason why I couldn't be moved by this film is I am the one of them.
I tried to analyze this film and exhausted so I couldn't concentrate on the main story.
In the end, I felt this script is a bit too artificial.
Dragon Quest: Your Story (2019)
Has they ever been moved by a video game?
We, who are naive, were led to a cliff and they pushed us.
That's the story.
There are some good battle scenes in this movie.
Characters are attractive.
CG animation quality is appropriate.
However, the last sequence that spoils all of them seems to be a betrayal to all Dragon Quest players.
I guess, we have no choice but to accept the unfortunate reality.
There's no Bianca, there's no Flora, there's no Alus, there's no adorable monsters...
Last Letter (2020)
I will stand by the plot.
When Ayumi(Suzu Hirose) and Soyoka(Nana Mori) look like angels or something unreal existences;
the real world begins to ovelap with fantasy;
and Otosaka's(Masaharu Fukuyama) mental journey begins too.
It is like a timeleap but the present and the past are overlapped therefore fantasic.
Then this fantasy ends with taking a picture.
This sequence is marvelous!!
I think some episodes of the first half are lack necessity, though funny and heartful.
But I was so moved by the latter part that I almost forgot that problems.
Camera work and beautiful scenaries are also good.
I watched twice in order to see the detailes of this movie.
