The Resort (2022)
New story, new faces
I feel like this show is super underrated. Admittedly it took me by the end of the first episode to give it my "mmmkkaaayyy" of approval.
It lost me around episode 5 briefly. But then I quickly bounced back during the 6th episode and was on board for the story line.
They do well with sprinkling in humor at almost the worst (thus making it the best) time.
The story is original, the writing is refreshing and the actings done very well.
I'm a fan of both pair of leads and I their chemistry is believable.
Give it a shot, and when it starts to get a little weird, keep going.
Totally worth it.
Soul (2020)
Just...tears.
This movie is without a doubt beautiful. From the story line to the cinematography.
Disney/Pixar continue to impress and move their audience with everyday questions blown into a thousand more.
What is your purpose? Why are you here?
The representation of black culture is finally accurate and done in one of the most sophisticated perspectives I've ever been so blessed to share.
A great movie for both kids and adults although, this one is more Up heavy...
If that makes sense. It does deal with death fairly openly however it wears it well.
My kids 6 and wasn't scared or sad, more curious than anything.
Selena: The Series (2020)
Disappointed fan
I knew this would be a really tough series to essentially bring back to life for another generation.
I wanted this to be good sooooo bad, but the story's about Abraham. And also kinda AB. And I love that we get to see them more but that's not what Netflix advertised.
I also take issue with the fact that they made the actress look like Jennifer Lopez as Selena.
Black Mirror: Nosedive (2016)
Meh, not the strongest.
The best part of this episode was absolutely Bryce Dallas Howard. The writing itself wasn't particularly strong and the plot was seemingly predictable.
In a society where all we care about is other people's perception, we behave in ludacris, almost masochistic ways to achieve whatever success means to us socially.
I can see why this episode is fairly popular but there are definitely better stories in the series.
Super Monsters (2017)
Great show for kids
My son loves this show! My five year old-who's transitioning to kindergarten-loves all the characters.
Beyond the powers, I think he finds the show relatable.
As a parent, I particularly appreciate how diverse the show is.
