Shawshank: The Redeeming Feature (2001)
An interesting and revealing documentary.
Quite an interesting documentary about the modern classic 'The Shawshank Redemption' from its conception to production, through to the rather muted response received upon its original cinematic release. One of Britain's finest film critics, Mark Kermode, tries to discover how this rather routine prison movie (on paper, anyway) seems to have struck such an emotional chord with the public, whilst not pandering to the sickening sentimentality that seems to infect most mainstream Hollywood films. To some it is a spiritual story, to others modern myth and to others, simply a great movie with that rarest of modern cinematic qualities - a heart.
Fans of the movie will find this programme fascinating and revealing. A well-made documentary, if a little un-biased in its praise.

Beautiful, amazing and thought-provoking.
Groovy, beautiful, trippy, spacey, inspiring, thoughtful, interesting, hopeful, pretentious, fantastic, happy, sad, emotional, cool.
Some have simply dismissed this great work as 'New-Age' or hippy nonsense. In fact, it is simply a record of the world in which we live (with an amazing soundtrack). Some of the most beautiful images ever committed to celluloid. VHS or DVD does not this piece justice. To be experienced rather than watched.
