L'ennemi intime (2007)
The french Platoon
I have just seen L'ennemi intime, a film about a young lieutenant during the Algeria war in 1959. A few films have already been shot about that war (L'honneur d'un capitaine, La bataille d'Alger, etc.) but this one is the best. At least it will change the way films are made on this matter. The actors are good, the images beautiful, the action very well done. And the film show the atrocities from both side (and that's quite rare actually, usually in France you have the "bad French" against the "nice fellous"). This film has the quality of Platoon or Apocalypse now. I only give 8/10 because of the end, not perfect. But it's a must seen film.
Next (2007)
Quite good
«Next» is certainly not a very good movie, the kind you have to have in your DVD Library.
It's the last of a long series of novels written by Phillip K. Dick that have been put on screen. Don't think you are going to see a new «Blade Runner» or «Minority Report». The story take place in our time. The interest of the story line is the question : What can you do if you know the immediate future ? Is it fate or can you change it ?
About the actors, Nicolas Cage is playing Nicolas Cage very well. Julianne Moore and Thomas Kretschmann are good and it's funny to see Peter Falk dressed even worst than in Columbo.
I would have put a 5/10 to the film but Jessica Biel is perfect, and I don't mean only gorgeous, but her acting is good as well.
Finally, I would say that I had some fun during 96 minutes.
