The Executive (2020)
The Executive scores with Great Satire
The Executive AKA the consummate BS artist. "Why does love die?" asks Mitch Wolfe in the titular role. For love to flourish, there must be no BS. But there is a river of BS in "The Executive." However the film is hilarious, spoofs everyone including the lead character. Wolfe is billed as the next Frances Ford Coppola. Not exactly believable when he says "invest in me and you'll get it all back." Wolfe is the consummate salesman. He could sell rat poison to a rat. Wolfe says he gets his most brilliant thoughts in the morning, usually when his character most wants to get it on with women. Yes he's delusional but spoofs himself and we laugh because he does so hilariously. The Executive: 10/10
Wingman (2020)
The Pepto Bismol of Films
Is this another Casablanca with Mitch Wolfe? No but it's a witty spoof of espionage films which always preaches, "Have an Exit Strategy." Mitch Wolfe's cult film, complete with his headstone in full view (I mean, who doesn't want to see their headstone in advance?), is a show within a show within a show. When your only friend is your dog, you need to carry out a desperate strategy, and Mitch Wolfe's alter ego does just that. As Mitch says, "I should have prepared for the unexpected," and maybe that was the key to his unravelling. It kept me entertained, as it will you. And there's comedy within this espionage spoof. My biggest laugh came when Mitch's alter ego compared Wingman to an Orson Welles production. Brilliant! 9/10
