Home Economics: 49ers Foam Finger, $7 (2021)
Season premiere
I stuck with the premier season; glad I did. The football-themed season opener knocked it out of the park. Something about how that whole sequence was set up and shot really moved me.
I'm excited to see where this season goes. I'll admit sometimes the "wokeness" of the lesbian couple is a bit much, but in most cases they tone it down. I've had to stop watching other faves like the Neighborhood, Connors, and even Brooklyn nine-nine because it gets tiring. Here's hoping this show stays clear of tiresome race/gender arguments.
The Woman Who Wasn't There (2012)
not evil....mental illness
In my VERY humble opinion, this woman was/is not evil. Her mental illness was not even examined a little bit in this piece. Which for me at least, left a gaping hole. One or two interviews with mental health professionals to explain this "phenomenon" would have been helpful.
Also -- more fingers should have been pointed at journalists early on not doing their jobs. As a life-long (now retired) journalist, one or two phone calls early on would have exposed her lies early on. Did no one think to verify what hospital reattached her arm, or verified her Harvard degree, or her employment with Merrill Lynch? Wow...somebody was really asleep at the wheel.

Going to stick with it
For whatever reason, I'm going to stay and root that it gets better. Likeable characters, fresh premise... I'm in.
Cruella (2021)
Could possibly be...
..the best movie I've seen in a decade. And I see a lot of movies.
I understand and respect the negative reviews; an opinion is just that -- an opinion. The biggest negative is -- who is supposed to be the audience? Don't bring the kids -- not your typical Disney. Does it bear some resemblance to Devil Wears Prada? Yes. But honestly -- every second was so beautifully, scrumptiously executed, every scene, every costume (the garbage truck dress!).....oh, for heaven's sake, just go see it.
