A Quiet Place Part II (2020)
Not good
Really? The high rating on IMBD cannot be serious? This movie is flat as a pancake and twice as dull, the same movie give or take as the first rehashed and put out again. Well enough acted but just goes to no place. Why did they bother making it? And the 9 and 10 ratings it is getting are laughable.
Ghost Story: The Phantom of Herald Square (1973)
Beautifully done final episode in the series.
Very melancholy tale this, but it is well presented( as indeed the whole series is) and it is so atmospheric( the music helps),it really has a eraly 70s vibe,as much as anything i have ever seen i would say. The story involves a man who sells his soul to keep youthful and it moves along at just tge right place. David Soul really brings a sense of sadness to the role( as does Victor Jory) and Sheila Larken is excellent as the flower child, young woman that falls for David Soul. This was the last episode and it certainly left me wanting more.
Ghost Story: Doorway to Death (1973)
70s creepyness personified
Suffice to say this is typical of a eerie ,atmospheric story telling that seemed to occur quite a bit back then, also in the Night Gallery series and the ABC movie of the week, which often had this same creepy vibe to it. This tale about a doorway to something very unpleasant is very well done, and has a fine turn by Susan Dey to boot( as the big sister of the two kids who discover the door). Well worth a look( as is the whole series). I missed Sebastian Cabot presenting,he went after Ghost Story became Circle Of Fear,a shame as he added to the off kilter atmosphere.
Desolation (2017)
5 and im being generous
Over extended and thinks it is building tension when it is not. One of those meh movies that will leave you wondering why you maybe bothered. Having said that, i have seen worse, but if your looking to be scared go elsewhere.
Alice (2019)
Superb movie,superb acting all round.
This film was so well acted and directed it really drew me in right from the off. I really felt sorry for Alice, discovering her husband had blown all her money left to her on seeing prostitutes. I rooted for her all through the film,a superb lead performance, though to be honest everyone acted their socks off in this one. Best film i have seen in ages. Well worth a look.
Only Mine (2019)
Oh Dear
Look, I quite enjoy a Hallmark or Lifetime movie at times but parts of this movie make those look like Chekhov. Also I'm sorry but the male lead looks 35 but the female lead looks about 16. I did not think the acting was as bad as some have reviewed and I guess it passes some time, just don't expect too much OK?.
