Dennis Miller: Fake News, Real Jokes (2018)
How the mighty have fallen
Boorishly unfunny. Dennis approaches his branded audience with his usual blend of over "thesaurasized" sentence work with a combination of curmudgeon stubbornness that tends to come off as another old white guy barley holding back at yelling at the kids to get off his lawn. His jokes come off lazy, unintelligent, and pandering to a stubborn viewpoint. As it has been for years now his (which has never seemed to improve) his stage presence tends to remind one of an aging manikin, stiff necked and rigged. Even that trademark head wobble of his has seemed to recede back into his shoulders.
But I think my biggest take away is his blasé denigration of people (American citizens by the way) and thinking by saying, "I'm happy for you." is by anyway a joke in and of it self. But by also declaring the ladder statement, yourself are self-forgiven. That is like saying, "Look I know you're invalid as a human being but I'm happy for you." It's quite disgusting. I don't see any humor in any of it. Sarcastic, yes. But sarcasm without kindness is just ridicule. As goes for irony and hubris.
