The Handmaid's Tale: Morning (2022)
Slow but necessary
It feels like this show never left! Elisabeth Moss's acting (and directing!) skills are unmatched. Everyone does a great job all around. I wish Alexis Bledel hadn't left, and I wish more had happened in this episode ... but I feel like it would have been too much if it had been done any differently. Either way, Yvonne Strahovski is definitely the standout in this episode. Also love the cinematography, writing, production design, and the always fantastic original score! I'm so glad this show is back and I think it'll go in a very interesting direction. Hope to see Ann Dowd, Madeline Brewer, and Mckenna Grace soon. Overall, this episode is slow but hey, we've had slower - and it's a solid one! 8/10. (Also why is IMDb saying my review has to be 600 characters?? That's ridiculous.)
Westworld: Que Será, Será (2022)
Great setup for the final (?) season
I read the reviews on here before I watched the episode, and I was pleasantly surprised when I actually watched it! Sure, it doesn't resolve everything, but it's beautifully shot and has some great reveals. Love the final sequence SO much! Iconic as always. 9/10.
Westworld: Generation Loss (2022)
THIS IS WHAT WE'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!
I can't tell you the amount of times my jaw dropped in this episode. After last week's episode, I thought this one would be a bit of a slump, but the back half far exceeded my expectations! I haven't loved an episode of Westworld this much since Kiksuya and The Riddle of the Sphinx. Aaron Paul kills it, the writing is amazing, the cinematography, everything. I am in shock and I am so excited to see where the rest of the season goes!
Stranger Things: Chapter Eight: Papa (2022)
Emotional, iconic, beautiful
Now it's a bit easier to understand why the Duffers split this season into 7 + 2; the last two episodes set a whole new scope that is nothing like anything else on television. If Millie Bobby Brown and Matthew Modine don't get Emmy nominations, I am going to be very upset. LOVED the cinematography, directing, writing, acting, score, and visual effects particularly. I know the finale will be incredible. One of the best and strongest episodes of the series. 10/10.
Westworld: The Auguries (2022)
Already an Improvement
Season 3 was an overall disappointment, especially compared to the previous season, but I think that season 4 is going in such an intriguing direction. It's really refreshing to see the cast returning in very different ways. As always, the cinematography, directing, production design, and score are fantastic! 9/10.
Westworld: Crisis Theory (2020)
Best episode of the worst season
I saw all the bad reviews for season 3 and I thought, "Surely it can't be THAT bad." And it wasn't, but it definitely wasn't good, either. This episode is actually good though, the first good episode in a long while. The performances, the concept, the production design, it's all on-point. Hopefully, season 4 will be better. 9/10.
The Boys: Herogasm (2022)
Traumatized
I honestly haven't been a big season 3 fan but this episode stepped it up massively. Horrifying, absolutely disgusting, graphic, can't wait for next week.
The Boys: Barbary Coast (2022)
I literally gagged
The Boys has always been super violent, but its best shocking moments are ones without blood ... I can't wait to see where the rest of the season goes!
Stranger Things: Chapter Seven: The Massacre at Hawkins Lab (2022)
Best Episode of the Series
The cinematography, directing, writing, acting, everything is upped to eleven (pun intended). This is seriously one of the best television episodes I have ever seen, and I can't believe we have to wait until July 1st to see the next two!
Servant: Donut (2022)
Shocking
Servant's always had that shock value in episodes like Reborn, Pizza, 2:00, to name a few - but this one elevates it like we haven't seen before. Although a little slow at the beginning, it was fantastic by the end!
Servant: Tiger (2022)
Eventful!
Servant has a tendency to have episodes that, while entertaining, don't accomplish that much. This one has a ton of action and introduces some new subplots I can't wait to see play out. Love everything about this episode!
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: Rumble on the Wonder Wheel (2022)
Not What I Expected
As always, this series delivers a beautifully shot episode with some stellar acting, writing, directing, costumes, everything! I wish a little more happened and there was less yelling, but the opening and ending scenes are near-perfect. Can't wait for the rest of the season!
Servant: Ring (2022)
Still recovering
This episode had a great buildup! It gave Servant some much-needed suspense and action - the acting, directing, and cinematography are amazing as always.
Servant: Hair (2022)
Beautiful! Great acting too
Things are definitely falling into place now. I love the way this episode was directed and shot. The outside scenes are very refreshing. Rupert Grint needs an Emmy!!
Servant: Hive (2022)
Well-directed and shot
Not the most earth-shattering episode, but Ishana Night Shyamalan did a great job writing and directing. The cinematography is fantastic as always! Keep up the good work! 👍
Servant: Donkey (2022)
Well-directed but way too short!
I can already tell that season 3 is going to be a very different, but I think it's in a good way. The last episode, Josephine, was very yellow and dark and dramatic, whereas this episode is bright and colorful and sometimes kind of funny! I can't wait for the rest of the season. Nell Tiger Free is a great actress, too. I hope we get more scenes with the other three, though. :)
Servant (2019)
One of my all-time favorite series!
Be patient! This is a slow-burn thriller ... really slow. A lot of reviews on IMDb criticize the slow pace of this show, but that's what makes it so good! Servant takes its time to develop its characters and plot, and it does it perfectly. Sure, some episodes are questionable (see Cake and Loveshack), but all the rest are masterpieces. Even the episodes that aren't the best are still fantastic. This series has some of the best cinematography, directing, and writing I have ever seen. The performances are excellent, especially Rupert Grint and Lauren Ambrose. Definitely worth watching/binging and I am SO excited for season 3. :)
Midnight Mass: Book V: Gospel (2021)
WHAT
I was not emotionally prepared for this entire episode. Mike Flanagan is a genius and I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight.
See: The Witchfinder (2021)
Very real
What's great about this show is that it takes such an out-there concept and makes it so real. Even the scenes at night in this episode are realistic and don't involve that much light. Sylvia Hoeks is great as usual and while this episode is a little slow, I'm excited to see where the rest of the season goes!
Homecoming: Mandatory (2018)
Beautifully Shot and Intriguing
So far, this series is absolutely fantastic! I love the mystery and the changing aspect ratio. Love the directing, cinematography, writing, and editing in particular. Can't wait to see more!
Servant: Goose (2021)
Brilliant!
After watching the previous episode, Loveshack, my expectations for this series went down the drain. This episode made me love the show again! It has a fresh directing style and an actually funny script ... not to mention that Rupert Grint is FANTASTIC! Very excited for season 3.
Dead to Me: Maybe I'm Crazy (2019)
Well Done
Usually, if there's a plot twist in the first episode of a series, the rest of the season is just filler. Not in Dead to Me! The episode honestly made my jaw drop a couple of times and it's probably the most suspenseful comedy I've ever seen. Well done!
Ted Lasso: Lavender (2021)
Getting better
This episode has some laugh-out-loud moments (and some DEEP ones), and I'm excited to see where the rest of the season goes! Hats off to the cinematography 🎩
Schmigadoon!: Lovers' Spat (2021)
Profound and Hilarious
This episode manages to combine some hilarious over-the-top musical numbers with deep and emotional dialogue. Not the most amazing thing I've ever seen but I'm looking forward to episode three!
Black Summer: Human Flow (2019)
Wow
This show takes the overused premise of a zombie apocalypse and turns it into something new and refreshing! The cinematography, production design, and acting is great - and I can't wait to see more.
