Inception (2010)
A mind-blowing and practically flawless film which fully deserves a 10/10
This movie blew all others out of the water. The music soundtrack was wonderful, the best in any movie I have ever watched, my compliments to Hans Zimmer. Time was truly chilling and Dream is Collapsing was exciting and captured the scene perfectly. The trailer was probably the best trailer I have ever seen, but it is nothing compared to the movie. The acting was great and almost flawless, although I did find a couple minor mistakes, as so with every great movie. Leonardo DiCaprio's performance as Cobb was exquisite, probably his best yet, as were many of the other actors and actresses. Arthur (Joeseph Gordon-Levitt) was the perfect loyal and badass member of the team, Ariadne (Ellen Page) fit her role perfectly, Eames (Tom Hardy) was hilarious and pretty awesome, Yusuf (Dileep Rao) was likeable and Saito (Ken Watanabe) did great. Mal Cobb (Marion Cotillard) and Robert Fischer (Cillian Murphy) were possibly the most surprisingly amazing, and their roles are so complex it is hard to explain. Even the characters with less screen time like Caine, Postlewaite, Haas, and Berenger were recognisable and all played important roles. In other words, I have yet to see a movie that has better acting in it.
The plot was well-developed and fast-paced, although the resilient-minded will be able to follow along without a problem. It is definitely one of the brainiest movies ever. During my entire career, I have never seen a concept just as amazing as the "dream within a dream", though it was mainly how Christopher Nolan executed that was so great. There were many high-stakes things going on at once all in one place, with all the different dream levels having their own crazy events at once. Christopher Nolan, you are a genius. The directing, writing, and screenplay were all exceptional. Though it didn't center at all on it, it had a fair amount of jokes, and this is one reason to prefer it over movies like The Dark Knight and The Godfather, which have barely any jokes at all.
The filming was great, and some of the shots blew my mind. The hallway fight scene is one of the best ever created, and although not a normal heist movie it is amazing. Also, the love story and the guilt settling all around it was so amazing. They made it practically perfect. I would barely change anything about Inception if I had the chance, except maybe explaining some of the things like Limbo a bit better. The concepts in it are just so amazing. It is the best movie I have ever had the pleasure of watching and reviewing, and it is the highest rated movie on IMDB in the past decade by far for a reason. Literally in the top ten highest rated movies, and the closest one in the past decade is in the low twenties. (Interstellar in 29th, which is another genius Christopher Nolan film). If you haven't seen it, then I can't exactly go any further, you really need to watch it yourself on Netflix to know just how amazing it is.
It is easily the best movie of the past decade, if not the best movie ever.
P.S. to the thousands of people who rated it one out of ten, WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN SMOKING. Even the dunces who I've talked to who still think it is a time travel movie would rate it 7/10. Almost all the people who rate it below 5 have either not seen it or didn't understand it, which is unfortunately quite common with brainy movies like this.
