Sully (2016)
Kinda Predictable
Eastwood's films over the years have become too predictable. When they're good like Mystic River they're good Hollywood but too often of late they could have been made by any Hollywood director. We expect more from Clint, and he's obviously coasting along these days.
Disconnect (2012)
Pretty Good Thriller
Keeps you on your toes, this one. Bateman is an underrated actor and gives a sound performance as do the others. Worth a watch. Not sure it's one that needs multiple watching to gain more from but it's stand the test of time now in 2021...not sure it will in another ten years. We'll see.
Frances Ha (2012)
Charming film that rings true
Really enjoyed this film...Gerwig is great as always and so is Driver and the other actors...I enjoyed Frances struggle...she wants to be a dancer but she's not really talented enough but she finds her place... and to me that really rings true.
Funny Ha Ha (2002)
Low Budget Gold
Very scruffy film image wise, but anyone with an open mind will get over that...the lead actress is really good and her struggle is honest, some funny moments and touching too
Husbands (1970)
Heavy and Intoxicating
This film benefits from watching in the cinema...the small screen doesn't do it justice.
My Beautiful Laundrette (1985)
Wish this one was on Prime
How come movies like this aren't on Prime Video? Daniel Day Lewis is superb again...Steven Frears at the height of his powers.
A Safe Place (2020)
British Indie film Gold
Some great performances, really liked a lot of the settings and atmosphere, cool music too that was at times quirky. The actor who plays Kevin is very good, like to see more of him. Lots of other fine actors too. The prostitutes, the crazy guy Frank is in your face, and Earl and Oberon who seem to live in some parallel universe. The treatment of a care home in modern day Britain rang true for me having experience in that sector, and which intrigued me to watch. John Henry Westhead of Clerks fame directed this one and apparently he has a couple of more bigger budget movies coming soon?
