V/H/S/94 (2021)
Pretty awesome movie
"V/H/S 94 was my introduction to the V/H/S franchise, and it left a strong impression on me. The film's anthology format allowed for a diverse range of storytelling, with some segments delivering an immersive, haunted house-like experience. However, it was 'The Subject,' an Indonesian story by Timo Tjahjanto, that truly captivated me. The craftsmanship and creativity displayed in this segment were nothing short of amazing, leaving me in awe. The level of gore and the quality of effects throughout the film were also commendable, adding to the overall impact.
'The Subject' has secured its place as one of the best short films I've ever seen, igniting my curiosity for more Indonesian horror and prompting me to explore further works by Timo Tjahjanto. The film's ability to pique my interest in a specific subgenre and filmmaker speaks volumes about its impact and the potential it holds for drawing audiences into new realms of cinematic storytelling."
Die Hölle (2017)
"Chilling Depths: A Riveting Journey into 'Cold Hell'"
"Cold Hell" is an impressive German film released in 2017. The lead character's performance is simply outstanding. Right from the beginning, you can't help but empathize with her, but as the story progresses, she becomes someone you can't help but dislike. It's a realistic portrayal of a person with a troubled past, as often happens in real life, where people tend to push others away and reject help. However, despite its strengths, the movie could have benefited from more suspense and a stronger antagonist to heighten the overall experience.
The film effectively captures the audience's attention with its engaging storyline and the exceptional acting prowess of the main character. From the very start, we are drawn into her world, feeling a deep sense of empathy for the challenges she faces. As the narrative unfolds, we witness her transformation into a character we find it hard to root for. This evolution is a testament to the actress's remarkable talent in portraying complex emotions and internal conflicts.
"Cold Hell" does a commendable job in shedding light on the harsh realities of life, particularly when it comes to individuals who have endured difficult circumstances. The film authentically portrays the tendency of some people to reject assistance and further isolate themselves, even when presented with opportunities to make positive choices. This portrayal adds depth and relatability to the story, allowing viewers to reflect on the complexities of human behavior and the consequences of personal history.
While "Cold Hell" excels in its character development and exploration of real-life struggles, it falls slightly short in terms of suspense and the strength of its antagonist. Though the film keeps you engaged, it could have benefited from a more palpable sense of tension and anticipation throughout. Additionally, a more formidable and memorable killer would have enhanced the overall impact of the story. By intensifying these elements, the movie could have provided a more gripping and thrilling experience for the audience.
Overall, "Cold Hell" is a solid German film that delivers powerful performances and delves into the intricacies of human nature. It effectively portrays the complexities of a character shaped by a difficult past and the repercussions of her choices. While it could have offered more suspense and a stronger antagonist, the film still manages to captivate viewers with its emotional depth and thought-provoking themes.
A Dark Song (2016)
"A Dark Song": A Mixed Bag of Isolation, Suspense, and Pacing
Released in 2016 and directed by Liam Gavin, "A Dark Song" is a horror movie that offers a mixed experience. On one hand, it effectively creates a strong sense of isolation, immersing the audience in the characters' world. The film also skillfully maintains suspense, leaving viewers uncertain about the success of the ritual. However, it's worth noting that the movie suffers from pacing issues, making it feel excessively long. Additionally, some viewers might find it lacking in scares, and the inclusion of the angelic element can come off as cheesy. Nevertheless, if you enjoy slow-burn films with a folk tale or ritualistic theme, "A Dark Song" is worth a watch.
Cabin Girl (2023)
Cabin Girl: A Riveting Mystery Unveiled
Cabin Girl delivers an enthralling mystery that captivated me from start to finish. The film skillfully unravels its secrets, leaving you empathizing with the characters and immersing yourself in their emotional journey. Notably, Rose Lane Sanfilippo's exceptional performance as the main character adds depth and authenticity to the film.
One of the standout aspects of Cabin Girl is its compelling mystery, which unfolds gradually, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats. The film masterfully crafts suspenseful moments that build tension and curiosity. As the story progresses, the layers of the mystery are peeled away, revealing a web of interconnected individuals, each burdened with their own secrets. This intricate storytelling kept me engaged and eager to uncover the truth.
Moreover, Cabin Girl effectively evokes empathy for the characters involved. The emotional journey experienced by the protagonists tugs at the heartstrings, making their dilemmas and conflicts deeply relatable. Rose Lane Sanfilippo's portrayal of the main character is a standout performance. Her ability to convey the raw emotions her character experiences is truly remarkable. Whether it's fear, anguish, or determination, Sanfilippo's talent shines through, allowing viewers to empathize with her character's plight.
In addition to its compelling story and strong performances, Cabin Girl offers a thrilling scare factor. The film incorporates well-executed suspenseful scenes that send shivers down your spine. The atmospheric setting of the cabin adds to the overall sense of unease, creating a chilling backdrop for the unfolding events. These moments of terror contribute to the film's overall impact and make it an exhilarating viewing experience.

The Attic (2007)
"Disappointing Depths: A Review of 'The Attic' (2007)"
"The Attic," released in 2007, unfortunately fell short of my expectations. Despite an impressive cast, the film's storyline proved to be lackluster and somewhat tedious. Regrettably, the movie seemed to prolong its narrative, causing it to lose momentum. While a few scenes did manage to evoke a sense of fright, overall, the film failed to deliver a truly terrifying experience.
Personally, I find it difficult to recommend watching "The Attic." However, as the saying goes, everyone has different tastes, so it might be worth giving it a chance. Perhaps there are elements within the movie that some viewers may appreciate and enjoy.
The Bride (2013)
Title: "The Bride (2013): A Dark and Thrilling Horror Film with Room for Improvement"
Introduction:
"The Bride," a 2013 horror film directed by Marcello Daciano, delivers a dark and thrilling viewing experience. With its intense atmosphere, haunting visuals, and a resilient female lead who kicks ass, this low-budget flick offers an engaging and memorable watch. However, while the film has its strengths, it falls short in terms of storyline and camera work, leaving room for improvement.
Captivating yet Flawed Storyline:
"The Bride" presents a captivating and twisted storyline that draws viewers into a world of suspense and intrigue. However, it's worth noting that the narrative could have benefited from further development and refinement. Certain plot points may feel rushed or underexplored, resulting in missed opportunities to fully engage the audience. Despite these flaws, the film manages to maintain a gripping hold on the viewer's attention.
Unsettling Atmosphere Hindered by Camera Work:
Daciano's skill at creating an unsettling and atmospheric tone is evident in "The Bride." However, the film suffers from shortcomings in camera work, which occasionally detract from the immersive experience. Some shots may lack the desired impact due to technical limitations or missed opportunities for effective framing. With improved camera work, the movie could have further intensified its chilling ambiance.
Low-Budget Limitations:
As a low-budget production, "The Bride" faces the constraints of limited resources. While the film demonstrates creativity in making the most of its financial restrictions, there are instances where the budgetary limitations become apparent. Certain visual effects or production values may not meet the standards of higher-budget productions. Nevertheless, the filmmakers deserve credit for delivering a commendable result with the resources available.
Worth a Watch for Fans of Low-Budget Flicks:
Despite its flaws, "The Bride" remains worth a watch for those seeking a quick low-budget horror flick. Its intense atmosphere, visceral moments, and the presence of a compelling female lead make it an enjoyable experience for genre enthusiasts. If you can overlook its shortcomings and appreciate the film for what it is-an ambitious low-budget endeavor-you're likely to find it an entertaining addition to your horror movie playlist.
Conclusion:
"The Bride" (2013) presents a dark and thrilling horror film experience, albeit with room for improvement. While the storyline could have been more developed and the camera work more polished, the film's captivating atmosphere, intense moments, and the presence of a resilient female lead make it a worthwhile watch for fans of low-budget flicks. If you're looking for a quick, atmospheric horror fix, "The Bride" can provide an engaging and memorable experience despite its limitations.
Antlers (2021)
"Antlers: A Decent Horror with Lurking Potential"
Antlers, directed by Scott Cooper and produced by Guillermo del Toro, is a supernatural horror film that left me with mixed feelings. While I appreciated the strong acting performances, I found the overall execution to be lacking.
The film boasts a talented cast, with notable performances from Jeremy T. Thomas as the young boy Lucas and Keri Russell as his schoolteacher, Julia Meadows. Their portrayals added depth and believability to their characters, contributing to the film's overall quality.
However, despite the commendable acting, I couldn't help but feel that Antlers fell short in certain aspects. One of my main criticisms was its length-while the movie had potential, I couldn't shake the feeling that it could have been condensed into a shorter timeframe. I found myself thinking that the story could have been effectively told in just 30 minutes, allowing for a tighter and more impactful narrative.
Nonetheless, I still encourage you to check out Antlers. Film preferences are subjective, and just because the movie didn't resonate with me doesn't mean it won't resonate with you. The film does have its merits, particularly with its impressive acting performances and its exploration of themes such as trauma and ancient folklore.
Antlers presents a unique and chilling story set in a small town in Oregon. The film delves into the psychological impact of trauma and grief, using the Wendigo myth as a metaphor for destructive forces. It creates an eerie and unsettling atmosphere through its dark visuals and stunning cinematography, effectively enhancing the sense of unease and foreboding.
In conclusion, Antlers is a supernatural horror film that features strong acting performances and explores intriguing themes. While it didn't fully meet my expectations, it may still appeal to viewers who appreciate atmospheric horror and psychological thrillers. Give it a watch and form your own opinion.
The Head Hunter (2018)
Title: "The Head Hunter" (2018) - A Dark Fantasy Journey with Room for Improvement
Introduction:
"The Head Hunter," directed by Jordan Downey, is a movie that blends elements of Marvel's "The Punisher" and the immersive world of Skyrim. The film explores a solitary protagonist's quest for vengeance and survival in a grim fantasy setting. While it has its merits, there are certain areas that could have been further developed to enhance the overall experience.
Plot and Characterization:
The movie follows a protagonist who resembles Marvel's "The Punisher" in a Skyrim-like world. The concept of combining these two iconic elements provides an intriguing premise that draws viewers in. The main character's resourcefulness, such as creating a health potion, adds depth to his survival skills and determination.
Atmosphere and Loneliness:
One notable aspect of "The Head Hunter" is the deliberate lack of dialogue, which effectively emphasizes the protagonist's solitude and isolation. This artistic choice allows viewers to immerse themselves in the protagonist's world, feeling the weight of his loneliness. The atmosphere created through minimalistic storytelling successfully captures the desolate nature of the character's journey.
Creature Lore:
While the movie excels in establishing a somber atmosphere, it falls short in fully exploring the lore surrounding the creatures of this fantasy world. The lack of information and backstory regarding these creatures leaves the audience wanting more. A deeper understanding of their origins and significance would have added an extra layer of intrigue and depth to the story.
Re-watchability:
"The Head Hunter" is a film that may require the right mood or mindset to fully appreciate. While it may not be an instant favorite, it possesses elements, such as its unique combination of genres and the protagonist's resourcefulness, that make it worth a revisit. With the right mindset, viewers may find additional nuances and appreciate the film from a fresh perspective.
Conclusion:
"The Head Hunter" is an intriguing dark fantasy movie that successfully merges elements of "The Punisher" and Skyrim. Its minimalistic approach to storytelling effectively conveys the protagonist's loneliness, while his resourcefulness adds depth to his character. However, the film misses an opportunity to delve further into the lore of the creatures, leaving viewers wanting more. Overall, "The Head Hunter" is a movie that may warrant a second viewing under the right circumstances.
Idle Hands (1999)
"Idle Hands (1999): A Nostalgic Blend of Humor, Horror, and Teenage Memories"
"Ideal Hands," released in 1999, holds a special place in my heart. You Can't Kill Stephen King (2012)
"A Cheesy and Fun Homage to Stephen King: You Can't Kill Stephen King
Introduction: As a devoted Stephen King fan, I was excited to watch "You Can't Kill Stephen King," a film that proved to be an enjoyable and lighthearted experience. While it may not be for everyone, its cheesy nature adds to its charm and makes it a delightful watch for fans of comedic horror.
Review: "You Can't Kill Stephen King" is a film that fully embraces its cheesy and campy qualities. It doesn't take itself too seriously, which may not resonate with all viewers. However, for those who appreciate a good dose of intentional cheesiness, this movie hits the mark.
The plot follows a familiar formula and doesn't shy away from clichés. While this predictability might be a turn-off for some, it actually works in the context of its genre. It feels like a loving homage to the classic horror films that inspired it, evoking a sense of nostalgia and familiarity.
One aspect that may divide opinions is the portrayal of the Stephen King fan within the movie. The character's actions and dialogue can be cringy and exaggerated at times, aiming for laughs but occasionally falling short. This may be off-putting for viewers seeking a more refined experience.
The film's strongest suit lies in its ability to deliver laughs. The humor is often tongue-in-cheek and self-aware, embracing the absurdity of the situation. The comedic timing and delivery are well-executed, resulting in several genuinely hilarious moments that will leave you chuckling.
Conclusion: "You Can't Kill Stephen King" is a movie that wears its cheesiness proudly on its sleeve. While it may not appeal to everyone, fans of comedic horror looking for a lighthearted and fun experience will likely enjoy it. Just be aware that the film's predictability, occasional cringy moments, and unapologetic cheesiness may not resonate with all viewers. If you're willing to embrace the campy side of horror, you'll find yourself laughing along and appreciating the film's homage to Stephen King.
Home Movie (2008)
It was ok
Title: "Home Movie" (2008)
"Home Movie" is a haunting and unnerving psychological thriller that delves into the depths of domestic horror. Directed by Christopher Denham, this film takes a unique approach by presenting the story entirely through home video footage captured by a seemingly ordinary family.
The film follows the Poe family, consisting of parents David (played by Adrian Pasdar) and Clare (played by Cady McClain), along with their two young children, Jack (played by Austin Williams) and Emily (played by Amber Joy Williams). The family's idyllic facade begins to crumble as the camera captures disturbing and increasingly sinister behaviors exhibited by the children. As their actions escalate, the line between innocence and malevolence becomes blurred, leaving the parents grappling with their worst fears and questioning their own sanity.
The performances in "Home Movie" are commendable, particularly from the young actors portraying Jack and Emily. Their ability to convey the duality of innocence and darkness is nothing short of remarkable. Adrian Pasdar, despite his acting skills, seems somewhat unconvincing in the role of a pastor. His portrayal includes a very strange exorcism scene that feels out of place and lacks authenticity. On the other hand, Cady McClain delivers a somewhat believable performance as a psychiatrist. However, the way she becomes the family's psychiatrist and her questionable methods of administering medication to the children appear to be both unrealistic and illegal, seemingly forced to fit the storyline.
"Home Movie" initially has a slow start and, in my opinion, is somewhat predictable. However, this deliberate pacing allows for a deeper immersion in the story, giving viewers ample time to contemplate their own reactions and ponder what they would do if faced with a similar situation involving their own child. As the tension gradually escalates, the film takes a more unsettling turn, adding an extra layer of creepiness that enhances the overall experience.
"Home Movie" delves into the unsettling concept of hidden darkness within a seemingly idyllic family dynamic. The film effectively raises important questions about the interplay between inherent traits and environmental influences, as well as the intricate challenges of parenthood. It forces viewers to confront the disturbing notion that evil can manifest unexpectedly and disrupt the facade of innocence.while "Home Movie" effectively examines the sinister undercurrents within family life and prompts thought-provoking questions, it falls short in terms of story development surrounding the parents and the believability of their characters. These factors prevent the film from fully realizing its potential and may detract from the overall viewing experience.
In conclusion, "Home Movie" may have its flaws, but I would still recommend giving it a try. Despite its shortcomings, the film's relatively short duration ensures that it doesn't overstay its welcome, and I, for one, don't regret watching it. In fact, I might even consider revisiting it in the future. Moreover, I must commend the young actors who delivered impressive performances. Their talent and dedication truly shone through, adding an extra layer of authenticity to the story. So, if you're in the mood for a unique and unsettling cinematic experience, "Home Movie" is definitely worth a watch.
The Monster Squad (1987)
"The Monster Squad: A Nostalgic Adventure with Heart"
"The Monster Squad" is a horror adventure film that beautifully captures the essence of 1980s nostalgia. Directed by Fred Dekker, this cult classic takes audiences on a thrilling journey filled with monsters, friendship, and a dash of humor. One of the highlights of "The Monster Squad" is its homage to the classic Universal Monsters. The film pays tribute to the iconic creatures while giving them a fresh and modern twist. The practical effects and makeup work are impressive, adding authenticity and a sense of nostalgia to the film. The monsters are brought to life with a perfect blend of horror and humor, ensuring that they remain both menacing and entertaining. And they have a sort of cheesy look to them that honestly makes it even better.
"The Monster Squad" strikes a delicate balance between adventure, horror, and comedy. It successfully blends lighthearted moments and thrilling action sequences, catering to a wide range of audience members. The film's nostalgic tone evokes a sense of wonder and reminds us of the magic of childhood friendships and the power of imagination.
"The Monster Squad" is a true gem that has stood the test of time. It captures the spirit of the 1980s, paying homage to classic horror films while delivering an exciting and heartfelt adventure. With its memorable characters, iconic monsters, and a perfect blend of humor and thrills, this film is a delightful experience for both fans of the genre and those seeking a nostalgic journey. Whether you're a fan of horror or simply love a good adventure, "The Monster Squad" is a must-see film.
The Monster Squad was the first monster movie that I fell in love with. I was approximately four years old when it came out, and I watched it countless times throughout my childhood. It never failed to ignite a feeling of bravery within me. I yearned to be the vampire character and even attempted to dress up as him for Halloween until I reached around fifteen years of age.
For me, it was an incredibly enjoyable movie to watch, and that sentiment remains unchanged. Now that I have a son of my own, I have introduced him to the film, and I believe he shares the same level of adoration for it as I once did.
Elvira: Mistress of the Dark (1988)
What a great movie!

Directed by James Signorelli, the film brings the beloved horror host to the big screen, delivering a fun-filled experience for fans and newcomers alike. As she attempts to sell the property, she becomes entangled in a series of comedic misadventures, encountering quirky townsfolk and facing unexpected challenges along the way. The storyline is light-hearted and filled with humorous moments, offering a delightful escape into Elvira's world.
Cassandra Peterson shines in her iconic role as Elvira, bringing her trademark wit, charm, and unique style to the forefront. Her comedic timing is impeccable, delivering one-liners and double entendres with flair. The supporting cast also embraces the campy nature of the film, adding to the overall comedic atmosphere. The performances are energetic and engaging, making the characters memorable and enjoyable to watch.
The film embraces its B-movie roots, delivering a mix of clever wordplay, physical comedy, and cheeky innuendos. The humor is light-hearted and self-aware, poking fun at horror tropes and pop culture references. It's a perfect blend of wit and silliness that keeps the laughter flowing throughout the movie.
The film's production design captures the essence of Elvira's eccentric style and gothic persona. From Elvira's iconic black dress to the elaborately designed sets, the visuals are vibrant and eye-catching. The use of color and lighting adds to the overall atmosphere, creating a visually appealing experience. The special effects, while not cutting-edge, complement the film's campy tone and add to its nostalgic charm.
In conclusion, "Elvira: Mistress of the Dark" is a delightful and entertaining comedy that showcases the charismatic and empowering character of Elvira. With her quick wit and charm, Elvira captivates audiences, using her humor and flirtatious personality to engage and entertain. However, beneath her playful exterior lies a deeper message about empowerment and treating others with respect.
For many fans, Elvira was more than just a crush; she was a symbol of empowerment and a gateway to the world of horror. Her unapologetic attitude and unique style inspired a generation of viewers, igniting a love for the genre at a young age. Through her on-screen persona, Elvira taught us to embrace our individuality and never shy away from being true to ourselves.
As the film concludes, Elvira leaves us with her iconic quote: "And if they ever ask about me, tell them I was more than just a great set of boobs. I was also an incredible pair of legs. And tell them... tell them that I never turned down a friend." This quote encapsulates Elvira's empowering nature, reminding us that she is more than just a character; she represents confidence, acceptance, and the importance of genuine connections.
Elvira was the one who started it all for me. I believe I was around four or five years old when my dad returned home from the liquor store with a poster. It featured Elvira cuddled up to a werewolf with the caption, "I love a man with a hairy chest." I thought it was the coolest thing ever.
My parents eventually divorced, and I spent four weeks each summer with my dad. Unfortunately, he worked constantly and struggled with alcoholism. He was functional, but still, he was an alcoholic. Alone in my room, I would play with my toys under the watchful gaze of that large Elvira poster hanging on my door. It may sound a bit sad, but those times-reading books, playing games, collecting sports cards, and the occasional horror movie card-were some of the happiest of my life.
Yes, you heard right: horror movie cards. They were made by Topps and sold sporadically in stores. Regrettably, I ended up losing them all over time. Eventually, my Elvira poster was lost too. I stopped visiting my dad during the summers, and we both moved away. Over the past 20 years, I've seen him just three times. He doesn't drink anymore and, at 86 years old, is now retired. Despite everything, if I could do it all again, I would still want him as my father. He was, and still is, a good man.
As I transitioned from childhood into my teenage years, Elvira became my crush (and, honestly, she still is). I seized every opportunity to watch her shows and movies, and even occasionally read her comic books. Reflecting on what ignited my love for horror, I have to credit Cassandra Peterson's portrayal of Elvira.
Captive (2023)
I loved this
This was a great film. It has the feel of a late 90s stoner film. For example idle hands (but not as funny, more serious). Mixed with a similar feel that you get with your slasher movies. I think it's good that they left alot of the politics plaquing movies recently and just made a fun, not to long, bloody, funny, unique
And sometimes scary horror movie. And some people have said the acting was bad, well I 100% disagree. I think they did a great job. And I enjoyed how they changed up the vampire stuff a bit. I really hope tubi keeps doing horror movies and also I love Scout so yay! So please please please keep up the good work with the horror genre tubi.
The Utah Cabin Murders (2019)
Didn't think it was to bad
I know the acting isn't perfect and it's low budget but i think it added to the realness. And it also got me very interested in the actual murders.. I would watch again. But if you are looking for a big Hollywood production then you probably won't want to watch this. Oh and the guy who plays the "evil" killer, I think he does a really good job. He genuinely gave me the keeps, and the guy who played the dad was pretty good. And the video tape at the end, I'm very curious if they really did that or not. I guess that's why I think it not as bad as people say.. it's to the point, I felt some strong emotions watching it, it kept me interested and it makes me want to learn more about it, so it did its job.
Wrong Turn (2021)
Turned out to be good
It started off very annoying with the main characters. Alot of annoying "hipsters " and SJW stuff. But I always give the movie a chance, and I'm glad I did. Turned out to be a great movie. I feel that I can relate to both sides but was routing for jennifer and her dad.
Pam & Tommy (2022)
Men are bad
Men are bad, that is the theme here. It was ok, but Pan was super annoying and made it hard to watch. And all the male bashing sucked. But they had alot of good parts as well and it was cool learning about what happened in a bit more detail. Also I should say the actress that played Pam was amazing, very talented. But the Pam character was annoying.
Lucifer (2016)
Last season was aweful
The show slowly got more and more PC and the last season was just a bunch of woke garbage.
