splatterfest
22 February 2023
It came to my ears that this was the goriest flick of 2022. This time it was correct. This is one gory ride.

The acting for such flicks is surprisingly above mediocre. But the conversations are funny to hear in English. Better watch it in Korean and but the subs on, way better.

The story is written in 2 lines. But that isn't important here. It's how this movie evolves. It starts rather slow and I thought, well, hell is for the last part of this flick but it isn't. It has 3 parts, the convicts, the monster, the rescue. And all parts do contain gore.

I guess after 10 minutes it all goes awry until the end. And just when you thought, okay can't go gorier, it does. It's just one splatterfest with tons of red stuff.

If you dig action movies you better skip this one but for the gorehounds, a must.

not scary, more a romantic flick
22 February 2023
Saw the trailer at a theatre and looked promising. Seen it and I can say that it wasn't what I expected from it.

Throughout the movie nothing really happens except the apperance of a lost child appearing as a ghost or as an imagination? That is out to find by the husband. The problem with supernatural flicks and ghosts is that it's mostly not scary at all. You see the boy and you just see a boy, nothing squeamish at all. It's only towards the end when it all comes clear what is going on that this flick picks up.

What it do has are a few jump scenes if you aren't used to see this kind of flicks. But overall it's all about memories of a lost child and the end it all becomes a bit cheesy.

Sad to say but I better did some bed rest.

no expectations
20 February 2023
When it came clear that Winnie The Pooh was in the public domain I knew someone would take the honours to make a horror flick starring Winnie.

Without any expectations at all I went to the theatre to see this weird flick. How are they going to show Winnie and friends. Flick starts really well with a cartoon about the friendship but after 2 minutes things already go wrong, Christopher is leaving the 100 acre woods and Winnie and friends become evil. End of the cartoon and the movie really starts.

Couldn't say start because the opening scene takes ages; The main problem with this flick, most of the scene's are way too long. Editing?

But not only that is a prob, the acting is way below mediocre and the way the girls react to situations is really unseen.

Of course the director do knows the classic tricks, add a bit of nudity and sexy bath tub scene's and people will be happy. But it's a horror so is it scary?

It's not scary but what it do offer are some nasty gory killings. The red stuff is available.

So for me it wasn't that bad after all, but still under mediocre. It's one you go see with friends without any expectations at all.

It shows that it was torn down from R-rated to PG-13
10 January 2023
First hype of 2023 is this horror flick coming from the hands of writer Wan. You know, the guy from Saw and The Conjuring amongst others. So I expected a lot from this flick.

Sorry to say but for me it wasn't what I expected. It was low on horror and it became more of a thriller. And the reason is simple, it used to be a R-rated flick but while editing this flick they agreed to make it a PG-13 flick, so low on horror and the red stuff.

It's not a bad flick, it's what we can expect from the future but even as it is entertaining and the story is okay for me personally it failed to be called a horror.

gothic horror?
8 January 2023
Normally I'm not into flicks that are all about talking and no action, except this one. From the first minute I was into the story and the way it was shot was above mediocre as did the acting.

Some people said it was a gothic horror, for that I agree and disagree. I agree in the way it was shot and were it all took place, the mist, the snow, the occultism surely takes it all back to the heydays of gothic horror. But it never becomes a horror even as there are a few nasty and gory moments in it.

For me it was a whodunit story in an eery background. The only thing that I thought really was the ending, the last minutes were for me a big dissapointment. Nevertheless, I was fooled buy the story itself, I never see it coming what we do see the last minutes.

So, it's on Flix so guess everyone can see this excellent flick.

not the gory flick as expected
5 January 2023
All over the horror web advertisement was seen for this Swiss exploitation flick. So when it came available on the official site it was time to see of it was worthy the fuss.

To be honest I was left with a bitter feeling, expected more from it but still it isn't that bad, only the gore is on low level, and it is exactly the gore that we expected from this flick.

Storywise it's okay and casting is okay. It's one big ode to the exploitation flicks from back then. And even the night scene's are an ode to the giallo flicks using oversaturated red en green light. The score is also okay and you can see from miles wherev this flick is going.

But as said, the gore is on a low level, decapitations is the most thing done and it's okay. Here and there the gore goes on higher level but the red stuff never takes the lead. Not a gorehound flick or splatter movie.

Still, it is worth seeing, it's cheesy (no pun intended) and only the reel exploitation geeks will love this.

not my cup of tea due a lot of blah blah
10 December 2022
Totally blind I went into this flick due the fact that it was on the Bloody-Disguisting list as to see here surrounding Christmas.

Is it a Christmas flick, well, Christmas is all around but no santa or otnher links towards Yuletide. This here is all about a priets helping people and in fact he does help one in particular by taking him home.

From there on this flick turns into a psychological flick. Slowly the priest gets involved into the world of the one staying at his home. Psychological I said which means a lot of blah blah going on. Unfortunaly I'm not into blah blah movies but I myust say this independant flick did well and I stayed watching, must be the performances that attracted me.

Even as it clock in under 90 minutes it takes over half the flick before things go wrong and even then it's the final that turns this one into a weird story.

Well done on part of script but for me personally it was a heavy ride towards the end, due the blah blah. But I do understand that people who dig psychological flicks this is one to watch. I still don't know what really to think about this one. Strill, the flick was a leech for me.

did I have a laugh
8 December 2022
Every year people are looking forward for the Christmas movie. I'm one of them only I don't need those cosy cheesy Christmas flicks to watch withthe whole family. Give me the ones were Santa offers more then presents.

I went totally blind in this one. The only reason I went watching it was due the director I knew from Dead Snow and other flicks.

I guess you are only a few minutes in this flick and things already goes wrong in a funny way. And from there on the black jokes and situations keeps coming until Santa himself is left behind by his reindeers. Things really go wrong and the movie turns into a messy gory flick.

But it's not a horror, be aware therefor there's to much going on between a teen and Santa, you know, the cheesy talking.

I do understand that some will have issues that it's the real Santa going beserk. But hey, don't take it all that serious. And if you know Home Alone well, there's a part referring towards it but much more funnier.

I left the theatre with a big smile. David Harbour killed it...the skullcrusher ho ho ho.

pure vendetta just on the edge of gore
7 December 2022
I expected a little more from this revenge flick. But the word Vendetta tricked me. Don't get me wrong. It isn't a bad flick. In fact, it does what it says in the title but the important issue is the father/daughter relation.

Luckily the plot has a twist which made it up for me to find it a good flick. Don't expect a Oscar worthy script. But what it does offer is a really good maffia revenge flick. It never goes over the top.

Compared to so much flicks about father/daughter revenge flicks, Taken is the most spoken about. I shall not do that. But I understand what they mean.

For some it can be on the edge of gore and in fact some killings are indeed in your face on-camera. Smashing heads is never an easy watch...

action from first till last second
7 December 2022
Came across this scifi flick by chance. It was a hell of a ride on all parts. The effects were stunning and even as there isn't that much of a real story it was entertaining all the way.

It's a mixture of all kinds, robots fighting, a dictator, friends fighting together, a lost friend becoming a hero, aliens invading, biowar, you see, everything is there.

Luckily it wasn't boring for one minute. From the opening it's fight scenes and it continues to the end. Due the fact that everything as said is in this flick it could be confusing sometimes but in the end it is all explained.

The aliens looked convincing and yes yes, you will be reminded towards a lot of classic scifi flicks even as it wasn't intended. I liked it.

pure entertainment
7 December 2022
As usual going totally bling in this monster flick. I say monster flick even as it is a bunch of stones that comes alive.

When I saw the title it reminded me towrads another flick Troll Hunter (2010) which to be honest is copied here in some way.

The difference, here the Troll is hunting and on his way to Oslo so you know what youi get. As said in the flick itself, is this some King Kong story. Sure it is. Female feeling things for the Troll, the Troll being hunted by the army. So helicopters are bombing the troll and he reacts just like...King Kong.

Story is mediocre but the effects makes it worth watching and it's the time of the year to watch it with the whole family.

weird horror flick
9 November 2022
A must see, creepy and you know how it goes with a new horror flick on streaming services. This is a weird one to review.

It built up slowly to go to a point were suddenly the movie fades to black and a whole new story starts. And in that story there's another story which for me never is explained so by now you get it. A strange flick that builts up slowly and even as a new story starts it do flows slowly into the first part.

It's not that bad after all, and it do has it moments with even some nasty and on the edge of gory shots.

I went into it blind and expected nothing at all and it worked out fine.

Terrifier 2 (2022)

extreme gory but too long
6 November 2022
6 years after the original Terrifier out of the blue came this one. Seen the first one I did know it was going to be a hell of a ride.

Nice promo too, people vomiting in theaters and fainting. Heard that one before mostly with flicks that were dissapointing. Not this one, espescially on the part of gore. It's extreme and gorehounds will love this one but sadly clocking in over 2 hours makes it a bit too long.

Effects were stunning, no CGI all old school effects which makes it a delight for people who were raised in the slasher era.

A said, the story goes everywhere but nothing is explained about the origin of Art The Clown and as the story goes everywhere so did the score. From suspense to industrial to goth to rock to even a stranger thing rip-off.

Nevertheless, not for the faint hearted.

Belgium nature shown but it do works out perfectly
5 November 2022
What is going on in Belgium? Cinema's are loaded with people wanted to see 3 flicks in particular all made 100% in Belgium, Close, Zillion and this flick.

No actors just a view into the animals and plants living in Belgium. And you think that could be boring, forget it. It is well written and edited in a way you are wanted to see how it goes with some animals returning in this flick.

Clocking in just under 90 minutes is just what this flick needs. If you watch it you are sucked into a ride that takes down your heartbeat and does makes your head empty. And by that I don't mean a no-brainer.

Perfect to watch with the whole family, exactly what I saw that night, eldery attending with their grandchildren, whole families, all ages....

Strange to see these days that a flick about nature brings people out of their homes....

everything is so close and be aware that a tear will be flowing
5 November 2022
Normally I don't go to this kind of flicks but it has been said that this Belgian entry for the Oscars could win. So on a rainy night in a foreign city I went to see it at a very small venue.

The title says exactly what you get. A story about two teenage friends getting close somehow in their friendship and people do ask themselve if they are in love. But not only that is close. The way it was shot also brings you close to the characters.

I can tell without spoiling that at the end of this flick I heard a lot of crying at the venue. Why? Because most people do recognise thelselve in the storyline.

Excellent performances by the teenagers knowing that they weren't actors at all.

Okay, I agrre, Belgium is on the road for an Oscar.

no blah blah but action all over and a twist of a joke here and there
3 November 2022
And again for me it's clear that the DC movie world is more my thing than the Marvel world. Marvel movies are sometimes way too long and have a lot of blah blah going on.

Not this one. And if you don't know a thing about the Justice League or Shazam it's all explained in a few minutes throughout the movie.

From the first moment it's all about action and fight scene's and to be honest. The whole movie is about that. And I just didn't mind that. The 2 hours were over just before I knew it. And just wait when the end titles are coming, you are in for a big surprise....and a new franchise I guess.

Is it all positive? Well, beside the jokes (the whole theatre was laughing as did I) the flick has a few moments were it lacks a bit of suspense but luckily it fastens up towards the end.

Effects are really stunning as can be said about the performances. So, one of those anti hero flicks that stand as a 'rock'.

mayhem and ultra gore
22 October 2022
No reviews, no trailers. Just went totally blind in this flick to be told as a gory mess. That was the only thing I knew.

Starts off rather slow but that wasn't really a prob because you got deep into the characters. After 15 minutes things go wrong at a diner and from there on it's a hell of a ride. There are a few scene's that are a bit too long. The old man talking in the subway and the doctor towards the end it's just too long.

Effects rae all on-camera and no CGI as far as I noted which means you got a rather ultra violent gory flick. So it's not one for the normal horror geeks but for those who love their CATIII Asian flicks, this is the one to watch in 2022.

a few moments are okay but overall it's really bad
19 October 2022
Aha finally another Jeepers Creepers. Reborn as they say and after seen this one I thought what the hell.

It's not creepy at all and the monster fighting towards the end makes it even ridiculous. Story doesn't make any sense and the opening scene is hjust way to long and be honest, nothing happens. Okay, it's a bit like the movie Duel. A truck following a car but that's it.

Of course you have to see some blood and dripping blood is CGI and that's another thing that is really bad, the CGI, no time for grading in post-production makes the CGI turns awfull. And the sky is so CGI that it all becomes a strange ride.

Jeepers Creepers is another franchise that goes wrong after every entry. This here, one to forget.

dramatic romantic horror
19 October 2022
No trailers no reviews so totally blind I went to see the final Halloween flick.

Do I have some issues with this one. Firts of all, out of the blue what is happening to the town itself, suddenly it looks bigger then usual. Bu t that wasn't my main concern, Michael living in the sewer? Really, and becoming friends with one accused of killing a child?

So the first hour is in fact a dramatic romantic flick with nothing to do with Michael Myers and what did we see, the creation of a new Michael?

It's only the last 45 minutes that the real Halloween starts, in fact, when the screen shows us it's 31 october. But by then it's too late. Even as it becomes bloody and messy the story really is the thing that sucks here.

The mask from Michael is the only thing that reminds you of the trilogy. It's has burn marks so that refers to the end of the previous entry. Luckily the grading and the shots are really okay. But overall, it's over and it does really ends but what a mess this is.

11 October 2022
Wnet to see this new horror without any expectations. Just seen the trailer and that was it. I know, mostly trailers espescially in the horror genre do giva a lot away and then you are left with a letdown after seen the particular flick.

But not here. It starts slowly and picks up speed the further you go into this movie and even clocking in at 120 minutes, it never bored me. It isn't that bloody but it do has a lot of jump scenes. And here and there it touches the edge of gore. But overall it do has it moments.

Not a weak storyline which makes it a joy to watch. The effects are good to here and there some CGI but it was okay. So overall one that opens the horror season really well. I left the theatre with a..smile.

No-brainer, that's for sure. Watched it on Prime promoted by them. Action flick with a few decent car chases and fight scene's but the story, we have seen this a thousand times.

The effects are above mediocre. Editing is okay, done in the new way, fast with shaky cams. It's one to watch with fiends nothing hard to understand easy to follow.

Nice to see a short acting by Dylan O'Brian, where is the time he was going to be the next big thing. Anyway, Infinite is on Prime you can't miss it.

A weird flick, that is what I can tell you. And it takes over 50 minutes before things go wrong. It's not scary at all even as we have some ghosts wandering around.

And when the terror comes in it's as said weird, the creature isn't explained at all in fact, nothing is explained. We have rituals going on, but why we don't know.

So left with mixed emotions. You keep watching because you want to know what the hell is going on, the screaming? The ritual? The house? The brother? The box? The creature? The movie?

great killings, weak story
23 May 2022
Slashers, do I love them, yes. Espescially the heydays. But from scream on they were made for the youngsters. Still, that era was good too but nowadays they mostly fail.

Does this one fail? In some parts it does. The killings are really the thing to watch, messy, bloody and even on the edge of gory. But between that you have a movie about teens and their problems and a bit too much of that, so there the suspense drops.

It could have been such a good flick, but no suspense made it just under mediocre but if you do come across this one, you will love the slaughtering.

I never forgot the vow to the sun scene
22 May 2022
I remember this flick seen it together with my father somewhere early seventies. I remembered it due one reason, the vow to the sun. Later in the eighties Fields Of The Nephilim used the ritual in one of their clips. So I was searching to see this flick again. Nowhere in my country i could find a copy. But hey, Plex is out here since a few weeks and look, it's on it.

52 years old flick and it still stands. The editing is sometimes stunning for the time it was shot and okay they clearly used stock footage of animals but the overall atmosphere once captured by the natives, the rituals the talking it all still stands. Once the legendary vow to the sun is done it still is nasty and gory to watch.

Another thing for the time it was shot, the natives aren't the bad ones. For me, a cult classic and it still stand strong.

Title looked promising but after 5 minutes into this flick i knew it, it's a flick for kids. The main lead are 2 children and the story is rather simple but somehow I just watched it and before i knew it the flick was over.

Ideal for youngsters to watch their first horror flick. Suspense, creepy moments, it's all there and the acting was good. And as an adult you can watch it too. Okay, no blood or whatsoever but the way it all was done, nice.
