One Piece: Episôdo obu Choppâ + Fuyu ni saku, kiseki no sakura (2008)
My personal christmas movie
A beautiful adaptation of the original with some added/changed scenes. The animation is really nice to look at and the art direction one of my favorites of the whole series.
Robin and Freaky don't really show much to develope the plot but it is nice to see them in that twisted plot.
To me it is the definitive way to see Choppers flashback.
The music is also one of my favorites. It adds much to the winter-like athmosphere.
Wapols brother is more of a second Wapol than a villain with an unique twist but I like his devilfruit power because it fits with the theme of an ill country.
Cider no yô ni kotoba ga wakiagaru (2020)
Pretty enjoyable, worth watching for one time
Words bubble up like soda pop is a beatiful and uniquely looking movie that deals mainly with the theme of what we hide that we don't have the heart to show.
Cherry, the protagonist, is a very shy person that prefers it to stay unseen, quite and antisocial. To assure that he wears headphones so noone talks to him. He likes to write haikus which he posts on social media. However, he doesn't like to read them out loud because of his shyness.
Smile the second protagonist hides her buck teeth by wearing a surgical mask. So she is hiding something about her appearance while Cherry hides something of his personality.
I like both how both leading roles overcome their fears in the end though Cherry's speech get a bit over the top consequently a bit inauthentic.
But he is the one to motivate Smile to smile without her mask while he starts to express himself in words in front of a lot of people.
The art is a big plus because it adds to the summer vibes with its bright colors and overall unique style.
In conclusion it was worth to spend time with it but not for a second time because the movies themes and characters aren't hard to understand, the story is rather generic I didn't got that emotional investet and it is not that thought provoking. But I think I shouldn't expect that because the movie is written to be understanded by children as well and they are probably the main audience because the theme of hiding themselves is a pretty common thing among teenagers and children.
One Piece: Wan pîsu: Thinking of O-Tama - Luffy's Furious Strike (2021)
It isn't just bad pacing
Pro: nice animation (elephant gun)
con:
- to many Tama flashbacks
- plot isn't really evolving (slow pacing)
- Luffy is out of character because he thinks and hesitates too much instead of taking action like he usually does.
To sum it up: Pirates walking around while almost nothing happens. (I think about 80-90% of ths episode is filler)
