Zuckerberg: King of the Metaverse (2024)
What a load of BS
Honestly, haters WILL be haters. From the ominous music to the quick edits of statement clips stringing together a story of total BS.
Of course everyone hates super rich people, go ahead, have a moan.
Of course angry ex-employees who were fired for whatever reason are going to backlash (and make a stack of cash getting themselves into the media)...the world loves a good witch-hint and character trashing. Clearly Director Nick so-and-so has an axe to grind. Whatever trevor.
Facebook is brilliant. It connects my family and friends. It uses my data, fine, and its actually very helpful to me in my marketing career and helps people find good stuff.
This docu-drama is utter rubbish. In the words of Taylor: "Shake it off!"
Retribution (2023)
Started well then STUPID!
I'm in the movie right now and I'm done. It had such promise. Utterly poor script and writing - all those strikes for nothing! They make the Liam Neeson main character weak. There are some things that make sense and like I say the set up is pretty good. But then it suddenly loses the plot. No person would react like that and you ca tell the writers are artificially holding the story to create false tension rather than thinking how it would naturally evolve. He fails to explain to everyone important why the problem exists. They make his character inconsistent - he's successful because of his ability to communicate but then he doesn't say the things someone like that would say. Unnatural portrayal of relationships and of kids' behaviors'. The most important conversations people would have in a situation like that (including with his kids) and he fails to say the obvious things anyone would say and fails to do many of the obvious things people would do. Ridiculous unfolding of the premise.
Is this the best Hollywood now offers post-Covid? Or this just part of the ongoing twist in the reality of the movie industry where 'those arty people' people are completely detached from most of our reality.
I feel sorry for Liam, could've been good.
Love Is Blind (2020)
Netflix and the Lachey's are the problem
It's an interesting concept and social experiment but it has significant moral questions. That said, this is the same as all the other's like Love Island, but better than all others because it holds out hope of genuine relational connection... until the production smut spoils it all. It is like roadkill, you can't look away.
Many of the cast are intelligent, good people. The despicable point is the way Netflix takes normal people and turns their lives upside down, knowingly. One wonders if they were truthful with cast members during recruitment about the utter public ridicule that comes from being on air. Perhaps they rely on the fact that if you go on TV you have to be aware of course, but how Netflix manipulates and twists what happens pushes way beyond the limits. What a fabricated, cruel world they are creating.
The Lachey's (do they partly own this show money money?) manipulate and twist things. Look at the reunion shows, they purposely show clips and ask questions that create conflict with intention to raise hurt and defamation of characters. Absolutely disgusting.
I wish someone just would hold Netflix to account.
The Umbrella Academy (2019)
Great! Excellent! Except for the freakin Trans storyline, I mean really?!
Another great show with brilliance on every level except for VICTOR. I mean what the hell. Is there nothing twisted Hollywood will not spoil. Just freakin stop with LGBT rubbish already. Just live life. No-one cares and its GETTING IRRITATING!!!
Cyrano (2021)
Brilliant movie
I'm not generally a music movie lover and I'm a musician. However, the songwriting and score on this movie was brilliant. Peter Dinklage is no singer but my word he delivers a stunning performance and his singing delivers exactly what is needed. All the vocals are perfect. The story and script are genius. If this doesn't get awards and Peter doesn't get best actor I'll eat my guitar. Absolutely worth the watch.
Titans (2018)
Season 3 - Fickle and weak
If villains are going to do bad things, there must be a better reason. If goodies are going to make poor decisions they better be because it should relate to the logic most people would follow. Unless the directors and writers really think we're all that stupid. Fickle and weak storyline. I like the effects. I like the characters. They could be so much more mature - more like Marvel. At least Marvel add some humour, which is why its more mature and relatable. DC are just odd and keep missing the mark.
The Tinder Swindler (2022)
What is most shocking is that someone can get away with it
What kind of a world are we living in?! Not sure what's worse: a justice system that allows people to do this and walk free after a few short months or that people have no morality any more and can easily get away with destroying other people's lives - and boast about it! DISGUSTING VOMIT YOU ARE SIMON LEVIEV. Sure there have always been tyrants, self-centred narcissists - which this Shimon clearly is - but never a time in history when we can see, thanks to social media, exactly how bad people are. How many Shimon's in the world are there? All those haters that criticised these victims could easily be a Shimon, based on their comments and attitude. And that is the thing, the attitude of the world, not because it didn't exist before exposed by social media is a mirror of how broken the world really is. Has humanity learned nothing? We're the most technologically advanced humans have ever been, but we've also never been more lost.
Thank you Netflix for making this mirror. You have made a difference with this. Let's hope it's enough of a difference - let's hope it's enough otherwise politicians will rally us all to war again to bring society right (as is happening with Russia right now).
And POLICE, please do your job and find this guy and throw him in jail for life!
Moonfall (2022)
What a fun disaster movie! :)
OK so I actually really enjoyed this movie. All these 1 star reviews have got it all wrong because they took it too seriously. I guess they are the sorts that gave Armageddon at 10/10 (I actually thought Armegeddon was pretty rubbish because it was way over the top and tried to take itself too seriously). Moonfall had fabulous graphics and CGI (except the flood scene), a really interesting, fresh sci-if concept, AND oodles of good British humour. Loved it. After all the rubbishing reviews I went in expecting the worst (like slapstick humour and ridiculous spoof hollywoodism), but was very pleasantly surprised. Definitely put a smile on my face and money well spent.
Outer Banks (2020)
Stupidity-driven drama but fun
The thing with screen writers (that I hate) is they take a great concept and interesting characters and do stupid, illogical things. COME ON WRITERS!!! DAMMIT! You can achieve the same excitement and drama with far more realistic storylines. Of course all teenagers would call the police when something bad was going to happen- at least for backup if nothing else. Ridiculous. Writers: there's something called 999, have you heard? And phone video recording and sharing. Get the kids to get the sheriffs mobile number. Honestly. Very simple.
The actors are pretty good. Charles Esten is fantastic, it's charismatic and the treasure hunt plot is good with some predictable twists but it's fun nonetheless. A fresh take on a genre not much attempted. We all like a treasure hunt and a reminder of our own teenage romances.
Raya and the Last Dragon (2021)
Brilliant booooo the naysayers!
Who gives a great movie like this 1/10??? Ridiculous. This was a visually stunning piece of artistry. Story was great, characters were rich and humour was clever and genuinely funny. Our whole family loved it. Honestly I get so sick n tired of the negativity of idiots who are just pure haters. Grow up. GREAT movie!
The Lake House (2006)
A nice idea with great potential but has too many holes
Too many things did not make logical sense or tie up loose ends, so I'm left feeling confused why things happened or weren't explained. I think this is poor writing and leaves me feeling frustrated and unresolved. Like, why did he not show up at the dinner - this is not explained but is critical to the integrity of the storyline and yet why did they meet in real time at another point? There are other broken points like this. A real shame - great actors!
