Rajathi Raja (1989)
A perfect entertainer!
It's a one-man show by the one n only Superstar! It's a perfect entertainer that one can watch even 100 times! I've watched this film almost a hundred times since my childhood n even today it doesn't bore me! Rajini na Rajini dhaan. Brilliant score by Raja sir. Radha n Nadhiya played their roles really well. Go for it! A feel-good entertainer!
Navarathri (1964)
Brilliance at its peak!
A movie that was probably way ahead of its time. It's about a woman who is displeases with her father's decision about her marriage, is dejected cuz of her lover's unavailability n hence flees the house during Navratri. She meets 9 different people on the 9 days of Navratri respectively. What all she experiences n how she finally meets her lover again is what the story is about. Mahanati Savitri amma n Nadigar Thilagam Shivaji Ganesan sir have carried the movie on their shoulders. Brilliant acting by the both of them n such a brilliant, skillful making by director AP Nagarajan sir who makes every scene interesting n enthralling. Shivaji sir essays 9 different roles effortlessly n incredibly! Although, the movie Dasavathram is said to have beaten the records as Kamal has played 10 different roles, the importance given to each role n the way every character makes an impact, certainly makes Navratri miles ahead of Dasavatharam. Shivaji sir Shivaji sir dhaan. Savitri ma Savitri ma dhaan. Nobody can match them. N kudos to AP Nagarajan sir. A must-watch!
Anbulla Rajanikant (1984)
A beautiful movie with a poignant climax!
It's a big shock to know that such a lovely movie bombed at the box office. It's an amazing movie with the right mix of a nice script, entertaining n engrossing moments and a powerful message! Brilliant performances by Meena (the child artist) and Thalaivar (Rajini). K. Natraj sir deserves a lot more accolades for this great movie! Watch it and you will not be disappointed! It's just that you'll shed at least a drop of tear after watching the movie, no matter how strong you are! But, that's the strength of this movie. Raja sir's music is soul-stirring!
Arunachalam (1997)
An interesting plot with loads n loads of entertainment from the one and only Thalaivar
Although it's a remake of an English movie, it has all the elements that make it a thoroughly enjoyable movie! However, the most magical element is (as always) Rajinikanth! Go ahead and watch it. It will certainly not disappoint you. You'll feel super entertained and bucked up after you finish watching the movie. Watch it when you feel low n you'll feel spirited! The magical formula that makes it possible is Rajinikanth+Commercial elements+interesting plot! For those critical people who always look for logic, message n something unusual in an entertainment medium, please stay away from the movie!
Engeyo Ketta Kural (1982)
Brilliant storyline n performances!!
Engeyo kaeta kural, although shot in a rural background, has a great script that's a right mix of human emotions, values and humanity. Brilliant performances by Thalaivar (Rajinikanth), Radha, Ambika and baby Meena! If you want to see how well Rajinikanth can act, watch this movie n you will be amazed!
Baba (2002)
This movie is strictly for Rajini lovers and ardent spiritualists
People here have passed blistering remarks about the movie n have criticized it bigtime cuz they are probably normal movie goers. This movie is not for the general audience. This movie emerged from Rajini's (fondly Thalaivar) meditation. It is relatable to his life n has a strong spiritual message. This movie is only for the people who love Rajini as a human or are ardent spiritualists. Only such people can relate with the movie. The rest should stay away from the movie. Me being a Thalaivar fan n admirer, this movie gave me an inexplicable magical feeling n took me closer to Rajini sir (emotionally) at the age of 9 (I was 9 when this movie released). This movie is very close to my heart as much as Rajini sir (Thalaivar) is. 💕🤘
