Calcutta 71 (1972)
Time travel through Mrinal Sen's lens!!
This is my first meeting with Mrinal Sen's movie Universe. This movie truly surprised me. To begin with, the topic of this movie, how far we've come from the era where wars, famine, and natural disasters have touched human civilization, this is a presentation of his flood scene. The image is from 1971 and it captures the stories of ordinary poor people from the preceding three years of 1933, 1943, and 1953. The night rain scene from 1933 is as if it has been captured, unbelievable camera work and acting. The one from 1943 presents the story of a helpless family living in the darkness of the city. There too, everyone is phenomenal. In the story of 1953, the protagonist portrays his ultimate acting. And finally, the famine of 1971 in Kolkata, and at that time the extravagant lifestyle of the city's respected people, in no way did the image fail to capture the real life of that time. And most importantly, what struck me the most about this picture, the murder in the voice of its narrator, his portrayal encompasses the history of those thousand years, compelling you to think about our existence and way of life.
Buno Haansh (2014)
Some great performances with magnificent cinematography!
Finally I watched it..it takes almost 10 years to come over to this perticular dev movie. After watching this..now I can say it's actually ahead of its time..all the performances are great..i actually shocked after realising that this movie shot at real locations..the bgms of this movie are perfect. Firstly it makes you emotional and then the thrill takes you to the end and leave you with an unsatisfactory ending..the editing..the screenplay all are great..never thought this movie can be that good in cinematography..i am a little bit unsatisfied with the ending of the story..the twists and turns engaged you all the time..you never bored..it you are a Bengali movie lover then you should give it a watch. That's it..
Royal Bengal Rahasya (2011)
A well-made entertainer!
First of all I am a quiet big fan of feluda stories..I watch all kind of feluda movies and series ..this movie is also well made. It engages you with the story with a short introduction... performances are top notch. The Cinematography and vfx could be better..but with that small budget they are quite justified. There is no unnecessary comic elements..with some action and thrill this could be a family time adventure movie with kids. Now I have a thought..after feluda solved the mystery..he promised that they are never going to disclose the dark secrets of the Royal family..but now we have a film on that..ha ha ha..I know all the characters are imaginary..but still..I am laughing..
Belashuru (2022)
A Sublime Symphony of Emotions !
In the captivating tapestry of Bengali cinema, "Belashuru" stands as a masterpiece. This cinematic gem is a poignant exploration of love, loss, and the inexorable passage of time. It's a tribute to the two legendary actors of Bengali Cinema, Soumitra Sir and Swatilekha Mam, can't believe they are not here anymore. This movie carries their legendary artwork. You can feel their presence and art of acting through their screen presence..i literally cried while watching this movie. I am a big fan of Soumitra Sir from my childhood..but this movie made me fall in love with Swatilekha mam..what a great actor she was..the simplicity and pure acting with significant dialogues made this movie a true masterpiece. Special thanks to the directors for making this movie.
Arjun: Kalimpong E Sitaharan (2013)
Good for a one time watch!
"Arjun: Kalimpong E Sitaharan" offers a captivating narrative set in the scenic backdrop of Kalimpong. While the film successfully weaves an intriguing storyline, the execution falls short at times. The performances are commendable, particularly in comic timeings. Storytelling is simple yet effective. Sometimes it's fills like a tv series. But the bgm is well crafted. Dialogues are well written and performed well by the actors. This movie had a great casting but the quality falls apart. Most of the times you can predict the upcommings. Overall it's a nice detective movie. You can give it a watch if you haven't.
Dostojee (2021)
An Underrated Masterpiece!
Watched it in 2022..but totally forgot to review it on IMDB. This movie is all about friendship. This drama based on clash of two religions communities of a rural Village of Bengal. The conflict separated two childhood friends and their families. The story revolves around the Muslim boy after his Hindu friend's death. The build up in the first half was brilliant and the ending levels you with emotion. This movie shows us the innocence of friendship which is beyond religion, caste system. After so many years this movie reminds us the old time Bengali classics. It's a must watch. The Cinematography, the editing and the music score is a masterclass itself. And lastly the acting of two rural boys made it a true masterpiece. Hats off to the director for making this..
La La Land (2016)

The musical experience was soothing, entertaining, relaxing..the acting performances and at last the direction made it a true masterpiece. The Cinematography was something else. Watched it on Netflix..but now I want to experience it on a giant screen. It's a gift to cinema lovers like me.. literally I can't move on from this movie after watching this. God why didn't I watch it earlier. I know my review isn't perfect..but here I am writing what I truly feel after watching this movie..and genuinely it reminds me about someone who lives deep down in my heart. Jawan (2023)
A cinematic mass entertainer - JAWAN
Finally watched this masterpiece after 3 days of its release. First of all thanks Atlee for giving us this eye soothing performance by Shahrukh Khan. Only a true srk fan can relate to this. I can't give a review without any spoilers.. sorry guys. So the story is evolving around the 90s and today..the father srk named Vikram lost his wife and his memory, whereas the son srk named Azad is a jailer and taking revenges of female prisoners with the disguise of his father to spread some social massages. Certainly the main villain Kali, played by VIjay got to know that..he kidnapped them and atlast the father son duo defeat Kali. Everything is so musical..thanks to anirudh and his team. But I think this is not the end of this movie..may be it's gonna be a franchise very soon. Overall every Indian should watch this Film atleast once. It contains some social massages and talks about some really serious issues of our country.
Jhilli (Discards) (2021)
A visual feast of remarkable cinematography and direction!
Jhilli - Discard is a story about slums and daily workers and their struggle with life. They live around us, walk beside us..but we never know their stories. This movie visualise us their daily life and skillfully attached us with their lives. With its captivating cinematography, strong character development, emotional depth and great performance by actors keeps the audience engadget from start to finish. I am a little bit unsatisfied with the storyline. With its outstanding sound direction I think the story can be explored much better in a different way..but I must say the performances are noteworthy, with each actor bringing authenticity to their roles. It's a must watch for those who appreciate thought-provoking Cinema that delves into the complexities of our society.
Hawa (2022)
A captivating Bangladeshi Drama!
It's a captivating masterpiece that leaves a lasting impact. The film takes viewers on a heartfelt journey through love, loss, and redemption, weaving a narrative that is both emotionally engaging and through provoking. The Performances in HAWA is exceptional. Visually Hawa is is stunning. The cinematography by tuhin tamiz beautifully captures the sea shores of Bangladesh emerging the audience in the rich beauty of the setting the use of natural light and colours. The film's narrative is compelling, seamlessly blending moments of joy and heartbreak. Overall it's a remarkable achievement in Bangladeshi Cinema.
The Whale (2022)
Emotional masterpiece!
How can I describe this kind of movie with some words. It doesn't matter in what age you are now you should watch this kind of movies. Just amazed with the performances in this masterpiece . Brendan Fraser's comeback with this kind of action is an absolute magnificent. The story is about a lonely, mid aged, fat University teacher ..his struggles with his daily life routine, health issues and relationships with loved ones. Sadie done a great job with her natural acting but some times I felt it's gone up of the cup. But that's ok. I became emotional while watching this.. specially at the last scene. Great Direction and background scores push this movie up to the sunshine. Thought it's been in my watchlist for 5 or 6 months..but finally I watched it after Fraser got the best actor award In the Oscars. His acting made me emotionally connected with the protagonist.. that's why I rate this movie 10/10.
Qala (2022)
Emotional
Dont want to say much about this movie. Each and every frame of this movie is a masterclass itself. The music, the cinematography , the direction and how can i forgot the class of acting.. everything in this film fits very well. The story is musical with so many heartbreak moments. It makes you emotional and conscious several times. This movie tricks your mind as well..after watching this you cant differentiate between what is right or what is wrong. I think this movie is for adult people in their own comfort zones. I strongly recommend all of you (specially Music lovers) to give it a watch, for me its the best from 2022. After watching this masterpiece..i can't talk much now.. leave me alone..
Chup (2022)
Not a Psychological Thriller!
Honestly i watched this movie on Zee5. Overall its a great movie. Bollywood should try this out of the box stories. I'm a big fan of DQ. I loved his most of the films. First half was great, there you can't guess exactly who is the killer. But when the killer got revealed you can actually guess the next plot step by step. Plot twists are very rare. Literally i can't say this is a pure psychological thriller..But the story is good, Direction, acting, screenplay everything fits so well. Every movie lover should watch this, specially the new generation movie makers and how can i forgot the self claimed "CRITICS" like me. So thats it..( darr lag raha hai bro, review to likh diya kahin killer ko mera address na mil jaye :)
Jersey (2022)

The direction is above the rest. This movie deserved better in the box office. The father-son bonding made me cry various times..what an outstanding performance. The spirit of this movie is the protagonist and his journey to be a better father, Better person. The cricketing scenes are well directed and performed.. Its an inspirational masterpiece. Everybody should watch this film. Cricket lovers.. don't miss this.
Laal Singh Chaddha (2022)
Emotional and Beautiful
So..this is an adaptation. But while watching i didn't feel that what everyone saying that frame by frame copied. The way this movie telling us the story of the protagonist is truly joyful. Yes some of the scenes reminds me some old movie scenes but the cinematography, music and performances of all actors made it massive. I really enjoyed this movie. Not only me ..i think all of the people who were in the cinema hall enjoyed and connected to this movie as well. This movie leave us with a great massage of life. The background scores are really great. Vfxs are incredible. Feel proud that Indian Film makers invest their hard work to give justice to this adaptation, which is also a masterpiece itself.
K.G.F: Chapter 2 (2022)
Not a Gangster, but a Monster 💥
Mind-blowing movie. Goosebumps is mandatory. Did't expect part 2 can be that kind huge🔥. Story, Acting, cinematography, editing all good. Something disappoints, that is low cgi or vfx in least scenes. Overall a packed blockbuster. Definately you became a Rocky hai fan after watching these 2 movies..
Sardar Udham (2021)

Gehraiyaan (2022)
Great Drama and ScreenPlay
First of all, i like the movie. Don't know why some of the people spreading hate about this. Nice Direction...and great Screenplay. Lack of some thrilling scenes. Middle of the movie is so lengthy i fell. But although its a good one from Amazon Originals. Glad to see Nasiruddin sir back to the films again. If you are looking for a drama you can watch this. I want to say that i enjoyed the ending scene most. Hope you guys enjoy this too..
Rajkahini (2015)
Its a Masterpiece
The movie released in 2015 but unfortunately i couldn't have any chance to watch this. Today i just finished this movie and i am writing this review with tears in my eyes. Its a film about the post partition environment in India and Pakistan (now Bangladesh). The movie contains many emotional scenes where you can't stop yourself to cry. Very very thanks to the very talented director Mr. Srijit Mukherjee for making this kind of masterpiece. After so many years of partition we can feel the pain and the tortures of that time through this movie. Again Great Direction 🖤 and mind blowing performances from the actors also. If you are a true classic movie lover, you should watch this. Really this movie is going to be a gem of The Bengali Film Industry.
Ele But Gele Naa (2021)
Fully comic and emotional
There are so many shows on YouTube in Bengali. But this one is far better from another. The characters, dialogues and shooting skills are really awesome. This series is full packed with comic and emotional scenes. Bankura Memes Shorts (BMS) gave an outstanding efforts to fulfill this project.
