Raël: The Last Prophet (2024)
Poor
This is a very badly made documentary. The first episode makes it seem like it's in favour of this cult. Clearly the cult is almost an exact copy of Judaism or Christianity. Elohim is found in Genesis in the bible. Please look it up if you don't know. Clearly Elohim is not to do with aliens. There is no evidence or logic but these people think this nonsense is the truth? It's worse than a main stream religion. There is no commentary or narration, just the members talking about it. I didn't bother watching all of it as I was bored. The worst documentary I've seen on this kind of topic. Don't waste your time. The French could learn from the U. K and U. S. on how to do this properly.
The Nest (2020)
Just because it's Jude Law doesn't make it good
I was fooled by the few good reviews it has and because of Jude Law. Those reviews must have been written by his fans. To cut to the chase, it's dull with boring characters in which they do nothing and the story goes nowhere. I know real people with more interesting lives than this. They should have made Rory a narcissist and maybe the others could have had more problems like alcoholism or drug taking. But sadly this wasn't the case. The ending was odd, they were sat at a table and then the credits went up! I've never seen that happen in a film. Clearly this is a lesson on how to not make a film. Don't waste your time with this, it isn't worth it.
Beyond Paradise (2023)
Beyond Believable
Oh dear. I wanted to like this series as much as Death In Paradise, but sadly this just isn't at all as good. Infact for a BBC drama it's very below their normal standard. I'm only 2 episodes in and you can already see how badly this has been done. After a big gap of 5 years we now see Humphrey in this new setting. At first we are lead to believe that they are married but in the second episode it turns out they are only engaged? But by the end of the first episode we learn that they had been trying to get pregnant with IVF!! That sounds far fetched. Also it was done insensitively. I think they shouldn't have included this sort of thing and certainly not in the first episode. In the second episode Martha is sad at first and things are awkward but very quickly she gets over it. So was she only just pregnant? No info really. Why was Humphrey parachuting in the first episode? And I believe someone said hand glider not parachute. So the continuity is appalling. The police station is beyond too small for an area like that. Did we not realise that Britain is over populated? Even country police stations are bigger than that. I'm sure that even in the 60s they had bigger stations. Clearly the Beeb didn't give them any funding. The stories are boring and the characters are poor, along with their awful acting. Not funny. And then in the second episode they introduced Martha's ex! Why? Frankly Martha only arrive in DIP at the end and we didn't really know her. It's been 5 years. Frankly the miscarriage and ex should have been in series 2 or at least at the end of series 1. We haven't gotten to know Martha at all.
I hate to say this but Kris Marshall is looking his age now, at 49 he is really too old for this kind of charactor. If he's 49 then how old is Martha?
How on Earth this series got a just over 7 rating I will never know. Probably just on being a spin off from DIP. It is beyond paradise and it's far beyond believable.
The Sandman (2022)
Worth the Wait
I have waited so long for this. Tom Sturridge is a perfect Morpheus. I couldn't have asked for more. He is exactly how I see him in my dreams. His dedication to giving us a full Sandman experience is greatly appreciated. The Dreaming is correct down to the tiniest detail. Even the library. Very excited to see Merv Pumpkinhead!
Death was a pleasant surprise and Desire is so good I'm freaked out now lol.
I know a lot was changed but most of the original stuff wouldn't work on screen. Overall I really enjoyed it. I look forward to series 2.
