Cherry Falls (1999)
Really bad
This starts out with a slightly promising story idea and direction (for a teen horror anyway). But, like most of the similar teen slasher films, it quickly spirals into depths of crap acting (which is a shame because one or two of them can be quite good), ridiculous story (with more holes than is worth mentioning here), enough cliches to fill a bath tub. Really, this is not worth the effort. I've seen scarier things on the sole of my shoe.
Die Hard (1988)
Superb
This is without question the finest action film of its type (one man verses everyone) ever! It has everything, a great bad guy, loads of gun fire, huge explosions, motive, emotion, Bruce Willis. No action film in its group can come close to it. The sequels, which are very good in there own right, seem to loose a little something that the original has in spades. Do yourself a favor and get this bad ass film on the excellent new DVD.
Rurôni Kenshin: Ishin shishi e no Requiem (1997)
great stuff
When I saw this film I had no idea that it was a series, in fact I had never even heard of the film, I just caught it at a friends house. I was utterly shocked at the shear quality of it, the action is superb, and while the actual story isn't great (nor is it bad by any means) the messages and thoughts it provokes are very impressive (i wont go into them here). As I said I had never heard of this before, I knew nothing about the film, but unlike many anime the story doesn't get confusing and you get a good feel for the history of the characters. The only bad thing that I can say about the film is the quality of the animation isn't as good as I've seen, but this doesn't really detract from the enjoyment, especially when you get dragged into the story. Top stuff.(8/10).
Scrubs (2001)
Best Comedy for years!!!
Put very simply, this is the most original, fresh, unnaturally funny show for years. Every character (major and minor) is scripted and played to perfection (the acting is superb). So what if the episodes are slightly similar, the more I watch, the deeper the characters get, and this is the only TV comedy that I have ever seen that has the ability to achieve other emotions without feeling "cheesy". Sooo much better than the overrated, subtle, supposedly real comedies being shown on Brittish terestrial TV like The Office (soo depressive). Scrubs just makes you laugh sooooo hard, and gives you a warm feeling all over. MUST WATCH.
Drop Dead Gorgeous (1999)
An excellent, yet sadly underrated film
This film is a pleasure to watch, with a delightful performance from Dunst, and indeed good acting from all of the cast, this is a refreshing change from the crude American Pie's of this world. If you are prepared to appreciate the fantastic, subtle, yet strangely mad comedy that D.D.G excells at, then you should completely satisfied with the permenent warm smile, and constant chuckles that this unique film will provide you with.
Fight Club (1999)
I could not even come close to doing this film justise!
Wow, what a film. I am not going to try to explain to you how this film can make you feel, or what implications or sub-meanings the film represents (of which there are far too many to mention in this short review), hell, I'm not even going to tell you about the plot, all I'm going to tell you is that I have seen this film nearlly 10 times now, and each time I watch it I find another little bit to apreciate, the deph of this film is unrivelled, and the acting from the two front men (Pitt and Norton) is as good as you will ever find. I havent scratched the surface of the brilliance of Fight Club, everybody should watch it atleast three times, to truly savor the genious. Go watch it, go watch it now.
