Foundation (2021)
unfulfilling ending to every episode
Yes I enjoy being tortured with the most baited endings of every single episode and a boomerang story telling, nothing makes a good sci fi better than taking a mcdonalds approach to scriptwriting. Instead of excitement for what's coming next there is this constant feeling of beingnpissed off, as every single episode meticulously ends Int he worst possible moment imaginable. Allt the good storytellig, allt he good acting followed by taking a dump over at the end, what for, this feels personal mistreatment of me as a viewer. I'm not excited about what's next I just want to punch you in the nose after the most extremely artificial unfulfilling blue balls of an ending every. Single. Episode. Has the walking dead not teach you anything.
11.22.63 (2016)
Watchable, but unfulfilling
Like a DJ that plays several amazing songs but cuts them short of their culmination, the series repeatedly hyped me up for something and then went into a different direction. Under it's polished looks, it felt unfocused.
The mysteries and mechanics of going back in time ware not explored any further than the first episode as the main character simply yolod it first try like he wanted to do a speed run. His motivation, character and personal struggles did not make sense to me as there were too many contradictory situations.
You may have a greatly more pleasant experience watching this series if you've read the book prior, but I haven't.
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
Not so enjoyable nowadays.
You know that solid blue color painting that sold on an auction for 50M USD? My thoughts on this movie are exactly the same. Super heavy trippy video with screaming music at you for 20 minutes can be looked upon as super heavy meaningful moment so deep our minds cant and will not comprehend anything below a scratch of the surface, because its so godlike, or you know it can just actually be a trippy video with screaming music... Definitely leaning towards that. I did expect an awful much from this movie based on its popularity and rating, but received so little in return. I mean i watched it, evolved my theory on the events, read the reviews afterwards and was like "so thats it, nothing else?" 2 hours of music screams for a piece of alien rock to give monkeys a stick and send an astronaut into galaxy school. And all of the events in between not really doing much to advance the plot or develop it. I understand watching an hour of footage of a person flying into a space station and then landing on the moon as it was a normal plane flight between two states would be highly impressive 40 years ago, but we are a bit more spoiled now to admire that with an open mouth. You'd say go watch a brainless thriller like die hard or smth, this movie is actually for those who enjoy using their own brains and think and i'd reply i already thought about everything this movie offers and if it was 15 instead of 140 minutes i wouldn't be missing receiving a thing from it. I read somewhere this movie is more appreciated nowadays than when it came out and could not disagree more. If that was true then this would be the one and only surprise this movie ever provided for me. Sorry for the rant :/
Enemy (2013)
Not what i expected.
We are so used to movies that just feed us scenes and don't require any brain function, that this movie caught me completely unprepared. Even throughout the movie my brain was confused what the hell is going on, not even trying to look for a second layer of meaning. I was so brainwashed by the mainstream movies we see these days that i didn't put any effort in THINKING. I was waiting for the end, i was waiting for the movie itself to unravel it's own mystery, the killer to be unmasked, or the detective to explain the elaborate crime to the audience like dummies. Imagine the further confusion when this didn't happen. Hilarious moment. Well i do feel fulfilled now, but not before doing the research and understanding what the movie was about. "What kind of movie requires additional research to understand it, this is stupid" - said someone grumpy in the forums and i laughed at that. It's not stupid, it's strange and if you haven't got any information about what you are getting into, it is unexpected. Other than my obvious happiness about my own revelations, i have to mention some downsides the movie has. The atmosphere was too heavy, the scenes were stretched too long and the 'dullness' of the characters was too strongly pressured, this led to the movie have a general melancholic feel, that in my opinion is the main reason this is not a masterpiece.
The I Inside (2004)
Missed opportunities
I inside takes a shot at a very hard target and unfortunately misses. I was curious why i haven't seen this movie as i enjoy the genre very much, and i was suspicious why the low rating. The movie feels like someone tried very hard to prepare it 'by the recipe' but like in cooking for the first time by following a recipe - the meal is edible, but not that enjoyable. It starts good as you can rarely miss on the first few ingredients and then the errors start piling up. Some scenes are predictable, others just have some illogical elements. As the story unfolds it is disappointingly failing to gradually become better. The drama that is presented in the story didn't mirror correctly on the characters. The main characters were having difficulties defining themselves and their shifting morals. Don't get me wrong i did enjoy this movie i just am a big fan if this genre and can be thus a bit more criticizing. There aren't that many movies of this type, so i am actually very glad to have seen it.
Pompeii (2014)
Painful to watch
If you are expecting to see a 'movie' be prepared to be utterly disappointed. If you want to watch an hour and a half of special effects and somehow can ignore everything else, this one is for you. I like special effects myself, i enjoy 3d movies and so no, but i found it impossible to ignore the rest of the movie witch was so horrible it would be a thousand times better if it was scripted by my cat while it is shitting in the litter box. To describe better why it is painful to watch, imagine someone putting a gorilla witch just underwent a lobotomy in a formula 1 race car and starting it. Or making it write the script for a 100 000 000 budget movie, same o.
After the Dark (2013)
This movie made me ANGRY!
This movie made me extremely angry. Don't get me wrong i'm not some kind of easily agitated, I've seen some real crappy movies before and would be like 'meh', but this movie managed to get me real angry, like real p%$$3d off! Let me analyse why. From checking out the trailer I've started watching the movie with good expectations about a philosophical mystery with interesting twists. It would be too nice to just say that this movie did not contain neither mystery, neither twists and neither any philosophy, and calling a few, known-by-all examples of some mind games philosophy is insult to viewers intelligence, but yet again this movies existence is insulting to begin with. So OK, movie was crap, but so are so many others, why am i angry about this particular one? - It is because it managed to disappoint not once, like it would be normal but dozen times during the course of it. You'd be thinking "OK, OK something interesting is about to happen" and no, nothing, sorry just crap acting and stupid story. Then you might be thinking "Ok maybe not interesting, but something provocative is surely going on here", but no, sorry, same crap. Disappoint. And on and on like this, until the culmination - "This movie better have a stunning twist at the end, so it's rating would be somehow justified!" And guess what? THE OPPOSITE HAPPENED! Not just disappointing, the ending was agonizing to watch. To watch as any hope leaves your mind, to begin comprehending how meaningless and stupid the last 90 minutes were - this is real pain. It is truly amazing to me how you could ruin something so much. I've seen movies that created astonishing scenarios over a root that seemed irrelevant at start, but I've not seen someone diminishing EVERYTHING he possibly could over a pretty good looking starting point! One last thing - the main actress(not even gonna bother scrolling to see her name) was just soooo bad. That twilight girl is 10/10 in comparison. A freshly cut small tree carried around by set crew would play her role much better.
Don't watch this movie!
World War Z (2013)
Amazingly good while disappointingly horrible!
Never been so torn apart deciding about a movie before. Main problem is that the movie was jumping from side to side on the good/bad scale, like a cricket on meth. First off, I am a huge fan of the Zombie genre and this movie had one of the best survival scenes i've seen, and i've seen a lot :) And on the other hand we had a completely illogical, lacking basic sense main plot, the absurdity of witch was so irritating it would be better to have no plot at all. Then jumping back to the good stuff, the cast and their acting were great. Problem is the environment established by the main plot (not by the z's) did not give the actors any chance to grow their potentials. So simply put, if you are a big zombie fan and not so much on complexity, originality, or as a matter of fact any basic concept of storyline, you will greatly enjoy this movie. The opposite and you will hate it. I can see how the average rating would reflect on the current trend of the viewers in matter of that aspect :)
Breaking Bad (2008)
Breaking bad is a depressing sad TV show
I now watch the third season to waste time and am amazed how this got it high rankings. It has been nothing but, killing, drug dealing, drug usage, deaths, overdoses, orphans, stealing, lying, diseases, depression, stress, fighting, injustice, scamming, murdering and massive disasters, divorce, therapy, rehab, cancer, peoples lives get destroyed, No humor, no normal healthy human relations. What is there left, a guy making a drug empire? We have that in Scarface, and it's nothing like this, maybe because it isn't filled with 5 season of bad things happening to everyone involved. It's all just depressing. The acting is good, but the script is just depressing....
Oldeuboi (2003)
Not what i expected from the ending
I had little information before watching the movie, i knew it was a good mystery and most through the movie it was. It did greatly at making the viewer really curious and anxious, but the ending hit me like a brick and also the rating bar dropped 10 points for me. In my opinion the writers of this movie took the easy route - to shock the audience instead of thinking of an elegant twist they just used what is already shocking and disgusting even out of context. If the ending wasn't a massive orgy of revealed incest, but something CLEVER, this movie would be great, but all i see now is a dude who fuсked his sister got angry on someone else for telling, killed her, hypnotized the rat, and made him fuсk his daughter.
Immortals (2011)
Epic fail Hero
I laughed so hard at how bad this movie is i cried. A parody would be less successful than this piece of work. The most hilarious was the main character. I've never seen a 'hero' fail so hard. He failed every single step of the way, he didn't accomplish not one of any goals. Zeus could not have made a worse choice if he'd pick randomly from a crowd of handicapped retards :D This guy, Theseus, first failed to save his mother, then failed at preserving his own life and made the gods cheat and interfere to save him. He got captured. Tried suicide by not drinking water. Made love to the Indian chick thus strapping her from her abilities and making her just normal. Found a godly bow that can kill anything, decided not to use it, but drop it on the ground and loose it so the one person who should not have had his hands on it his archenemy did get it. Then he should have been killed for the second time and a god again had to cheat and save him sacrificing his own MUCH more valuable life. The only thing he did was close a door of the barricade witch was easily destroyed with the bow witch he gave to the enemy. When the titans were about to be set free he came and failed again, couldn't prevent that from happening, just caused the gods to interfere for the third time, who for some reason no matter that could tear easily the mountain and kill all enemies decided to do some hand combat and get all but one killed in action... Then our mighty Theseus barely managed to kill the old guy, not changing anything since he did his evil plan already. This movie had some more really bad and hilarious moments like i'm guessing 75 000 000 $ are not enough to make decent special effects and armors that are not obviously rubber. It's been really long time since I've seen such a disgrace pretending to be called a movie and i enjoyed the ridiculousnesses . :D
Fool's Gold (2008)
Favourite movie of all times
Yesterday i watched this movie for the seventh time and thought to myself.. hey i never watch movies more than twice and i rarely enjoy watching them over again, and here i am, having great time, watching Fool's gold for the seventh time, something must be wrong, i must like this movie more than any other. And in fact it is my favorite. I feel it, i enter the atmosphere of this naive paradise like world. I love that it is so positive, even when there is a fight and one is trying to shoot the other there isn't any hate or anger. Not to mention that almost any scene from the movie qualifies for an amazing desktop wallpaper. There are big yachts, hot chicks, clear ocean waters, paradise island, treasures, funny jokes and original action scenes. Perfect ingredients for me. I wish everyone to feel so much enjoyment from a movie like this, it is awesome!
