A Quiet Place Part II (2020)
Fantastic sequel
I'm not sure what others were watching when they have left reviews saying the sequel was just cashing in and had no story. This film continues the story of the family trying to survive now that their hideout has been destroyed.
All of the characters develop within this film, all grow and mature in their roles.
The movie is hard to watch in the sme way the first film was, it was tense with a slow build.
Looks like a third will be on the way which is good news!
I'm not sure what people were expecting when they say they wanted a different story, treat it like an extended first film and you'll be fine .
Frankenstein's Monster (2014)
Avoid.....
Can't really say too much about this 'movie'. Terrible acting, terrible editing. Avoid if you arr a fan of Frankenstein.
Mulan (2020)
Not as bad as the reviews make out
I've only seen the 1998 Mulan twice and enjoyed it as an animated movie but at no point did I expect them to remake it live action and stick to the original story.
Don't expect Eddie Murphy to pop up as a dragon following Mulan around trying to keep her identity a secret, that would never have worked in this remake. Although there are some 'magical' elements I think they found a good balance between believability and the suspension of disbelief.
The main theme I took away from this film is family honour and respect are important in Chinese culture and I feel the movie addressed these virtues well.
A lot of reviews complain about the lack of the 1998 elements but those would never have worked in a live action movie.
Don't believe everything you read from users reviews (including this one).watch it for yoyrself and go in with an open mind.
The Blair Witch Project (1999)
The scariest film I have ever seen
I was 15 and desperate to see this film when it was released, I was finally allowed to watch it on Halloween night. Alone in my room. In the dark.
I consider this the scariest film ever as the 'bad guy' is never seen, only suggested. The tension felt between the characters is intense. The children heard in the woods at 2am crying sent shudders down my spine. You could tell the actors were scared themselves.
No other film has had the effect of sheer terror on me as the Blair Witch Project has. It was a ground breaking piece of film that will forever stand the test of time.
