Blott on the Landscape (1985)

Good film, providing a laugh which at my age I really need

Like another viewer it was my first time I'd seen David Suchet - what a comparison to his Agatha Christie role and tonight I've just watched another Hercule Poirot. A great actor. I had read several of Tom Sharpe's books but this one made the best film. I'd forgotten it was a series. When I saw Geraldine James some years later, I was amazed at how young she was, as she played a much older woman in Blott.I don't even think she looks that old 22 years later. George Cole is always great to watch - anything from the Belles of St Trinians to Minder. With Tom Sharpe's stories you just know that all sorts of happenings will eventually come together and combine in a great humorous disaster. I'd love to see it again - hope it turns up on DVD Jessie in Sydney, Australia

Great show as was French Fields

I just want to say that I agree with the previous viewers where I clicked "yes" to what they said. We never seem to get good old BBC comedies on Aussie TV anymore and there's a large audience of 70 and 80 year old who love them. Anyway at least more and more are appearing on DVD - hope I can live long enough to see them all. From the 1960s to the 1980s was the best for British comedy as far as I'm concerned. Loved Anton in May to December - it was a very touching show. First saw Julia McKenzie in Blott on the Landscape and have watched her in everything that's come our way. A for Andromeda (1961)

Exciting and wonderful for the 1960s

It was probably 1963 before we saw A for Andromeda "downunder" and I thought it was the most exciting show I'd ever seen. I could feed and bath 4 kids and be in time to watch each episode (my husband was at work). There had never been anything like it on Australian TV before. Don't remember much about the actors and reading the cast list was amazed to find just who was in it. I was intrigued with the actor who played the female professor. Is there a photo of her? I thought the part was played by Patricia Hayes but obviously I was wrong. Had no idea Julie Christie was Andromeda. Would love to see it again but maybe it would be disappointing. Sorry I can't add any more, after all it is over forty years since I saw it. Have only just found IMDb and am enjoying it very much. Please someone put A for Andromeda on DVD soon - my time is getting shorter!
