The Curious Case of Natalia Grace (2023)
Over all good documentary but....
A lot of intentional hype by people participating in the documentary. Overall, it's a puzzling but good story. However, some of the biggest questions were NOT answered.
1. How were the parents able to change her age so easily? This seems to be a more serious SYSTEMIC issue because this allows sexual predators to potentially abuse the system.
2. Why the court is allowed to disregard the girl's real biological age? Seems like it's a play to cover their own grave mistake.
3. Recall after Natalia started living by herself on her own in the first neighborhood, neighbors didn't particularly like her. I could not reconcile what was said with the fact that she is completely innocent.
Kookminsahyungtopyo (2023)
Completely illogical and a mess of a show.
Like others have said, some scenes are completely illogical to the point of outright stupidity. It started out great but took a turn for the worse mid way. Like someone mentioned the bomb scene. It's a C4 for god sakes and the cop was right next to it and walked away without a scratch?
Characters also consistently made the worst choice they could have made among all possible choices. Why police consistently refuse to use force when innocent lives are at stake?
I think if this show is intended to criticize the unfairness in the Korean justice system, it's not doing a very good job. The very choices the characters made are part of the problem.
The Descent (2005)
Good for lovers of graphical violence, but the plot is lack of originality.
This movie was recommended to me by many, but I was disappointed after watching it. Seriously, I do not understand how this movie got a 7.4 out of 10. Well, what I say might be a spoiler to you, but be assured that none of the plots will be revealed. However, I may give you some insights to the theme of the movie. Also, keep in might that I maybe biased because I have very high expectation for horror movies simply because "things that defies logic" won't scare me a bit.
The Good: This would a good movie for you if you enjoy watching graphical violence for a whole 40+ minutes. As the story unfolds, I get a feeling that this movie is trying to reveal the "hidden" dark side of human nature. Whenever we are in a desperate situation, friendship and "brotherhood (or sisterhood?)" breaks down and survival takes the lead. Then, there are the monsters, and this reminds me of "Journey to the Center of the World," which is a good idea for a horror movie. If you enjoy that type of adventure/horror movie, you'll probably enjoy this one.
The Bad: However, I felt that this movie failed to illustrate anything well enough for me to "get it". It just ended up being everyone fighting everyone else, and of course, battling the "monsters" as well. I did not feel a bit terrified by this movie because everything just ended up being incoherent and therefore, seemed that the director just wanted to "get it over." And because of the simplicity of the story, I literally figured out what was going to happen next after 30 min. If you wants to see a movie that truly reveals the dark side of human nature, watch "Cabin Fever." At least something like that could happen in reality.
Bottom line: A good movie for high school kids (but was this one rated R?)
