His wife, Julie Webster, who believes that partners working as a lawyer at Jethrow, Bowker and Clay in Rock City, Montana, do not appreciate and underestimate him, the benevolent and somewhat meek Maxwell Webster, partly out of circumstance, decides to will eradicate it. Family - Julie and their three teenage babies - to Los Angeles to start anew, which means that if she wants to practice law, she means preparing to take a bar exam in California. The combination of objects makes life in California even more complicated for Max. The only house they can rent is not only much smaller and dilapidated than they had hoped or expected, but that it was once rented by a bookmaker, with a multitude of phone calls received by people wanting to place bets that get Max into the hot water with some criminal elements that fortunately the websites do not know the location tied to the phone numbers. Joyce Laramie, an attractive young woman in Max's bar exam preparation course who has already failed the exam twice, wants Max as a study partner, their platonic relationship that can be seen from the outside and sometimes from the inside. While Joyce can hire Max for a part-time part-time job to save him, that's what he's not suited for: an account collector. And in this job, he meets the famous Frenchwoman Dorianne Gray, an ambitious singer in a nightclub who ties him up in some complicated situations. The question is whether Max can overcome all these difficulties to take advantage of the life he wants with Julie, especially under Julie's pressure when it will be difficult for him to return to Montana and get him back to Jethrow for his old job.

Joe Gresham is a hardworking but taciturn congressman from Massachusetts. Reporter Alice Kingsley arrived in Washington, DC and was hired by Gilbert Nunnally, a tabloid columnist and cynic, who wanted Alice to expose a mature political scandal. Their goal was "No Comment Joe" Gresham, and she began to make up a story about him, telling him it would be a benign "personal profile." Gresham is struggling with real legislative dilemmas, weighing funding for shipbuilding facilities, which will benefit his own region and broader defense requirements. In order to get to know him better and dig up some appropriate dirt, Alice agrees to go to his hometown with Joe, where she meets his mother and observes him in his local situation. She finds that Gresham's healthy image does not seem to have any pretense, and is in a dilemma between her commission to write an "almighty" story and her growing appeal to Joe.

The hillbilly Aaron Slick has been unsuccessfully wooing the young widow Josie Berry for many years. Josie is eager to take a trip in the big city. Bill Merridew and his "kissing cousin" Gladys hide in the trunk of a $20,000 obtained from an improper transaction. Relatively speaking, they held a touring tent show on Josie's farm. Merridew actually went into hiding, thinking that there was oil on the farm. Aaron knew that was not the case and tricked him into buying the farm for a large sum of money. Josie ran to Chicago with the money, and Meridou realized that he had been cheated and pursued him. Aaron arrived in time to prevent Josie from letting Meridou "invest" her money.

1943. Upon seeing an act of subordination, Major General Vernon C. Brent of the United States Air Force decides to take a gamble by appointing Lieutenant Colonel Paul Tibbets, the said disobedient, to lead the testing of a new long-range bomber . , Boeing's B-29, for use in military service, as the aircraft operates like a dream in ideal conditions, but is known to be a death trap in extreme conditions often encountered by the military. The general has a long-term plan that he won't tell Paul at this stage, but it's designed as a preemptive measure to end the war, the Allies who seem to be losing: dropping an atomic bomb, flying in a top-secret mission. Called the Manhattan Project, on a major Japanese city. While testing the bomber is a dangerous mission in itself, each progressive step towards the end goal becomes more and more dangerous and difficult. When the team, including the Manhattan project investigators, gather at the Wendover Air Force base in Utah to conduct final tests with the Commanding Officer Paul, safety will come first, with only a handful of people telling the full story. All the others only know their small part of the whole plan, and to a question one is supposed to answer evasively by saying nothing. As such, Paul has a zero tolerance policy for anyone who violates this protocol. Seen in total secrecy as the greatest security risks are the wives, who can speak out of turn at the proverbial hairdressers if they know too much. Although Paul's wife, Lucey Tibbets, is used to secrecy, she may not be able to resist all that Paul has changed in the name of national security because she doesn't know what's going on. The mission is also jeopardized by Paul himself, who admits only to himself that he is afraid to question whether the lives of innocent Japanese will justify the end of a better world if the mission succeeds.

English trout fisherman Rudolf Rassendyll is pretty much the only tourist not to come to the coronation of Central European King Rudolf V in Strelsau, but turns out to be a distant relative and because of their conservative resemblance is approached to fill in for the drunken king, in order to avoid his jealous half-brother Michael, who arranged to pour his wine to seize the throne when the reportedly less than dutiful Rudolf stays away. The ceremony goes well, and he becomes acquainted with the charming royal bride, kindred Princess Flavia, but afterwards it turns out that the king has been kidnapped; he must continue the charade, and once the hideout, Zenda's castle, is found, he is involved in the battle between political parties for control of Rudolf V, his throne and his bride, for which a formidable third candidate, Michael's unfaithful fellow -conspirator Rupert van Hentzau, was waiting in the curtains.

1927 Hollywood. Monumental Pictures' biggest stars, the glamorous on-screen couple Lina Lamont and Don Lockwood, are also an off-screen couple, if you believe the trade papers and gossip. Both perpetuate public perception, if only to please their adoring fans and bring people to the cinemas. In reality, Don barely tolerates her, while Lina, despite finding Don below her, simply believes what she sees on screen to bolster her own fame and self-esteem. RF Simpson, the head of Monumental, dismisses what he thinks is a flash in the pan: talking images. Not until The Jazz Singer (1927) becomes a bona fide hit, causing all cinemas to install sound equipment that R. F. knows that Monumental, most specifically in the form of Don and Lina, has to jump on the talking picture cart, despite no one in the studio knowing anything about the technology. Musician Cosmo Brown, Don's best friend, is hired as Monumental's ideas man and musical director. And by that time, Don has started secretly dating Kathy Selden, a chorus girl who is trying to go big in pictures herself. Don and Kathy's relationship is less than friendly despite their first meeting. Cosmo and Kathy help Don, who had worked his way through the movie ranks to stardom, try to make the leap to talking picture stardom, with Kathy following her. However, they have to overcome the technological difficulties. But the bigger problem is Lina, who will do anything to make sure she makes the successful jump to talking photos too, despite her own inability and at the expense of anyone and everyone if they get in her way, especially Kathy as Don's off-screen girlfriend and possibly his new talking picture lead actress.
