Beast Wars Second: Chô seimeitai Transformer (1998)
It's amazing
This is a really good Transformers show but it has it's flaws. First of all, the story is a bit slow. It's animation is beautiful, but low points in animation will stand out a lot. Its characters are good (except Artemis and Moon. Both are exceedingly annoying).
The great parts:
Theme song is a banger
(Most of) the animation is amazing
The overall plot is very good.
People say that this show is for kids and they rated it poorly as it is a children's show. It has cringy jokes, but like said before, it's made for kids. If you didn't like the show for the jokes, then it's like hating a kids cartoon because it wasn't adult enough.
Transformers: War for Cybertron (2020)
It is a good show
This show is very good in animation, soundtrack, and story. While the story is amazing, it was paced very quickly.
In therms of character development, there is very little, but noticeable. Also, a good show does NOT need a lot of character development.
The ending was amazing and the fighting is very well choreographed, but I really wished it was longer or/and (SPOILER) had a true ending.
Most flaws of this show are purely in the development of the show, not the show itself. The voice acting is not very good. I wished they used union actors, but a friends parent (watched original series and loved it) didn't really care that Cullen or Welker voiced Optimus and Megatron. I am far younger and I wished they both reprise their role, but apart from that, the voices are okay. Also, production of the show was TOO DARN LONG. I can gice this a pass as this show was created during the COVID - 19 Pandemic, so there was inevitably going to have delays.
It really isn't bad by any stretch. People are just looking for complaints.
Finally, as a lifelong Transformers fan, it's really nice to know what is about to happen, know the characters, and know what to expect.
Transformers: Zone (1990)
Great series with a single fault
This has the perfect mix of animation, musical scores, and story. The only problem I have with it is...
They only made one episode.
Transformers Zone is a perfect ending of the original series and I really wish it was a full fledged series.
Transformers: The Headmasters (1987)
It's a good show
If you are a G1 fan or a casual anime watcher, I suggest you watch this show. It's animation is amazing and the theme song is amazing.
First of all, this show is a PERFECT replacement for the "Rebirth" 3 parter. It has an interesting cast of characters that brilliantly moves the cast of characters around. This show is full of important events, and they influence the future series (SPOILERS) Optimus Prime dies (again), Cybertron got destroyed, Mars exploded, and Fortress Maximus is left as the New Autobot leader while MegaZarak (Scorponok) becomes the new Decepticon leader.
Otherwise, it is a great show, and the Japanese trilogy only gets better after this one.
Toransufômâ: Chôjin masutâ fôsu (1988)
A great show
Yes, this show is VERY different from the previous shows, but that doesn't make it bad, it makes this interesting. The cast is full of amazing characters and there is actually character development (SPOILERS) like Ginrai starts out as a guy who is unsure about his position and was slowly swayed to lead the Autobots after the Decepticons killed his friends.
The show's soundtrack is just amazing. I don't think that this show is as good as Transformers Victory, but it is a very close contender. This show has a plot from the very beginning and the way it connects the to first series is amazing.
Transformers: Victory (1989)
Why Transformers Victory is a great show
To haters: why are your expectations so high? The show (for CHILDREN) is supposed to be a very generic Autobot vs Decepticon battle with a twist. The animation is a solid 10/10 and the theme song is awesome. I can see why people don't like it, but they are very minor nitpicks. Just because you don't like something, it doesn't mean it sucks.
However, the same goes for the opposite, if you love a show, it doesn't mean it's perfect. It has it's flaws, but they aren't bad.
Going back to the good guy vs bad guy scenario, the good guys don't even always win. This is one of the cool aspects of the series. Th Autobots face a string of humiliating defeats and are desperate to stop the Decepticons. This even ends with (BIG SPOILER) the death of God Ginrai. However, after a bit of percipience, determination, and good strategy, the Autobots make a final comeback in the nick of time and are able to defeat the Decepticons.
