Valerie: Burned Out (1987)
One of the best Fire Prevention episodes of the 80's
Most of you who grew up in the 80's and even in the 90's saw many fire prevention episodes. One or more shows would have these shows usually in October which I believe was fire prevention month. We saw Webster, Love Sidney, Cheers and other experience catastrophic fires in their shows. This one really got me, maybe too much. I was about 10 years old when this episode came out and I don't think I went right to sleep at night for a very long time after viewing this episode. I may have been slightly scarred from this episode but this was a time when television attempted to educate even if only a few episodes a season. They always had the PSA at the end kind of giving the viewers warnings about fire safety were great.
My Bloody Valentine (2009)
A Valentine's tradition in our house even with the awful writing
I think I'm being generous when I give this a five, but that's only because my wife and I watch this every year on Valentine's Day. We watched it in theaters a month before we started dating now at the Valentine's Day tradition. So on to the review of the actual movie. They are so busy trying to keep us guessing who the characters are That they made the character saying do things that kind of take away from the story because you're like that is so dumb. They have the characters doing things people normally wouldn't just for the sake of the mystery of who done it. There's also a lot of overacting in this movie, but if you have the 3D version I will say this is probably one of the better 3D movies I've ever seen, especially when it was in the theater.
Elvis (2022)
Great idea but poorly done
The inaccuracies and the timelines were awful. I don't know how anyone in the Presley family would be ok with this movie. Austin Butler was one shining point of the movie as he did an amazing job. I agree way too much Colonel Parker although I'm told Tom Hanks did a great job with the accent compared to other Elvis movies. I guess I learned a few things which was good, but all this movie seemed to do was paint Elvis in a bad light. We all waited for this movie for a long time because of delays with the pandemic, my wife got me a copy when it came out. I decided to watch it again to give it another chance but it really fails I'm so many ways.
Old (2021)
Where did he think of this, Epstein Island?
The boy was still a six year old even though he was in an adult's body. That's pretty messed up. The whole concept of aging was a great idea though, as mentioned previously it was very poorly executed, we didn't even make it through the whole movie it got so dumb, I miss the days of his suspenseful movies where you were on the edge of your seat during the whole movie, not bored in the first hour. I agree also the acting was awful, how did a guy like M. Night Shyamalan who used to make blockbuster films with A list actors get to this low point in his career. This is why Hollywood is falling apart at the seem they don't get what the people want any more. Sorry for the mini rant but this was beyond disappointing.
Titanic (1997)
These high reviews show many history teachers aren't doing there job.
There are so many historical inaccuracies that people seem to be ignorant of or have been dumbed down by their love of Hollywood. I don't claim to be an expert and I understand that new information has surfaced (no pun intended) since this movie was made. They never discuss a lot of different factors that led to the demise of the ship. One other point of contention is turning a the death of thousands of people into a love story is pretty messed up. Maybe He will make a 9/11 movie and turn it into. A love story as well. I do appreciate they did put some factual information like some of the people on board and some of how the events unfolded but this is just another example of how Hollywood who lives in a land of make believe can make seeming rational people lose track of reality.
9-1-1: In a Flash (2023)
Lost interest after the long break but thought I be would give it another try
This episode was like a bad horror movie where it was all lightening related injuries. The baby in the crash was crying at first so he would have been breathing which they said he wasn't, then they had him stop like oh yeah he's supposed to be close to being brain dead. I forgot how silly some of these episodes are we have one more to watch yet hopefully it's done better especially with how much time they had in between to make the new episodes. I do like how they had Hahn & Buckley families together. The storyline with the "undercover op" at the rehabilitation center was pretty interesting as well. I'm not inflexible on the silliness of the show but sometimes it just gets a little ridiculous. I should have waited to start this when it was over the 3rd story line with Denny is quite cool too, it might have just got another star or two, to the ending was interesting too. Sorry I'm all over with my thoughts.
The Game: One Wedding and a Musical (2023)
I absolutely hate when shows do musicals but the ending was worth waiting for
There has been many TV shows that for one reason or another people here music, due to a head injury or drugs or even the whole episode being a dream, I didn't care for it even before it was overdone but now I really don't care for it. The ending as stated in the title of my review was quite a shock and for one of the few times in this reboot (which I don't typically care for reboots) where I couldn't wait for the next episode. I'm not sure this show has another season in it but they definitely could end it well at the end of this season. They could even flashforward like they did at the end of the original series.
Elvis & Nixon (2016)
20 minutes in I'm not sure about this movie
The story of the meeting is cool but as most people stated the roll of Elvis wasn't great, he looked like someone wearing an Elvis costume. The Elvis impersonatior didn't even think he looked like Elvis. Lol
I liked that he was flying commercial on a "top secret mission" as he has two planes that he flew everywhere on. The beginning with Spacey as Richard Nixon was really great Johnny Knoxville as Sonny West is also questionable. They didn't capture Elvis' personality at all. I got a free Amazon trial so I guess I'll finish it if it doesn't get any dumber but it's not looking so good. The writing is awful this movie really could have been something if they put more effort into it.
The Rookie: Mother's Day (2022)
We get it your soo edgy shooting up churches
I know most don't respect others beliefs so most will disagree because ironically the show that males fun of Hollywood is very Hollywood so close minded with delusions of being the most open minded. They at least saved the horses.
My other issue is that they made it so obvious of how Lucy feels for Bradford, instead of being more subtle.
It's just funny how they contradict a lot of other episodes more often than not in the last few episodes on being about procedure or on character's statements in previous episodes.
Sorry to be THAT guy.
The Goldbergs: The Wedding (2022)
This could have been a great episode I'm TV history, if it was last season
The ABC app doesn't let you watch but a few episodes at a time so we waited and got a free trial of Hulu and watched it, easier to wait, so we just saw the episode.
I get stuff happens and they had to make due but if they had this episode last season when Pops was still alive and with Murray having real participation it would have been amazing. They could have at least had Pop Pop and Uncle Marvin there even with the snow storm.
I haven't given up on the show like some but they really should have made this the last season without Murray it's just not the same and the obvious attempts to put him in with doubles is annoying, not to mention using phrases from now when it's supposed to be the 80's.
The Rookie: The Hunt (2020)
Every episode is as good as a season finale except the season finale
I get that they had to throw us off and create that season finale suspense but it seemed flimsy accusing Nolan & Harper. The whole framed concept is overdone. It still was an action packed episode and everything else was still great it was just the premise that was a bit ridiculous. We're Bing watching so I'm in the middle of the next episode, it seems a little more promising.
The Rookie: Crash Course (2018)
Great show bad episode
Typical Hollywood trash, it's like they can't help themselves. It's sad how little respect they have for other people's religious views.
It seems like Nolan wouldn't be a cop if he had as many accidents as he has had. He is a likeable character but the writing seems very sloppy.
This show is awesome otherwise but anymore episodes. Like this we won't be watching. We started later but have seen bits and pieces and are excited to get into it. We can take it or leave though if this episode is the quality we can expect.
The Waltons' Homecoming (2021)
A few minutes in and I already don't like it
They should have had it years later with the original cast minus those who have passed. This didn't like this show as a kid but love reruns on MeTV. The set is all wrong and typical of the CW not having am original idea they ruined another classic. I'm not sure who actually watches that network or why.
An American Carol (2008)
Finally Hollywood gets called out, have a cup of liberal tears and enjoy!
Good movie sometimes a bit forced but I find it hilarious that so many actors and movies have a far left message and people get all mad when a spoof movie exposes those movies. It was surprising considering how left leaning Hollywood is that they got some decent names to be in this movie. Is it the greatest movie ever, no but definitely worth buying. It's spoofing Hollywood by using its name tactics to mock Hollywood.
Brooklyn Nine-Nine: The Good Ones (2021)
5 minutes into the first episode, they should have ended last season
This was a great show but Hollywood wouldn't be Hollywood if they didn't try to twist facts to attract the naieve and easily manipulated people who think Hollywood millionaires know anything about real life. So disappointing as we loved this show.
They should have ended last season, Amy & Peralta married and had a kid, hotchcoj retired. I wish they did mire with Captain Holt and his husband, he was under utilized.
9-1-1: Lone Star (2020)
Is Rob Lowe the next Ted McGinley
It seems like Rob Lowe is in another show that is doomed to fail. This show unlike some of the Ted McGinley shows (Happy Days, Love Boat etc.) jumped the shark right away. It appears in not the only one who feels this way which is dissappinting as I was excited to watch this series when it was first announced.
I don't know why Hollywood won't ever learn that people don't want agendas pushed on them even if it's done with good intent.
Vice (2018)
It's obvious by the cast that this is going to be very far-left propaganda for the uninformed extremists
When you have actors that are constantly forcing their Politics on people inside and outside of the movie some of us actually pay attention and whether we agree with them or not we like to think for ourselves, I know that's not the case with a lot of people watch these movies but that is the case with me and I'm pretty sure it's easy to tell what this movie is going to be like so all I really can say is bye-bye Hulu, your service has been terrible now you're forcing your political views on me I think I'll pass.
M*A*S*H: Peace on Us (1978)
Flimsy premise
I get that it's a fictional TV show oh, but they really over do the poetic license of what would really happen in that situation. Unfortunately the show became about the actors and directors politics more than being about the characters.
Wrecked: Six Feet (2018)
Hopefully not the beginning of the end
This show is hilarious.... usually.
This shows flirts with the line on ludicrous and funny, unfortunately it went over the line to ludicrous. The over exaggeration of these billionaires was kind of lame and honestly I only laughed hard a couple of times when usually I'm rolling the whole episode.
