Without debating the technical aspects of the 3d in the movie, Transofrmers, Dark Of Side Of The Moon, was a wonderful ride. I believe the 3d box office for the film was driven in equal parts to a wonderful story, a wonderful star (Shia Labeouf), a wonderful supporting cast ensemble, and wonderful CG capably drawn in a dimensional medium.
I was happy that the dimension in the film was used to paint the landscape rather than as a neon flag to be waved in front of one's nose. My experience was that negative space elements were treated, in the most part, with respect. I like the fact that in much of the film the camera moves were slowed down so one could truly enjoy and explore the airspace.
Granted there were some scenes where the camera moves and cuts were exhaustively fast and furious ala 2D.
I like the fact that the medium is starting to come of age. To me, there were more positives in the crafting of the film than negatives. (Not to be confused with positive and negative space).
Other than the weight of the shutter glasses over a 2.5 hour period, I found myself wonderfully immersed in the story and visuals rather than being constantly pulled out of the story by Marx Bros-esque face slapping 3D.
