De nærmeste (2015)
Heart breaking story goes beyond all taboos
I must say acting was brilliant ! I really felt how she felt for a second ... we are all craving something inside and so did the siblings in this movie. They both blamed each other's existence for not receiving their mother's love. He grew up and became a narcissist while she grew up feeling inadequate and insecure. When they met, it was a match made in hell .. the perfect narcissist-victim pairing ! He finally connects with his mother and she finally found the courage to do what's best for her after he deserted her ... now it's up to them to either move on and become real siblings or fall back into the same old habits ... that is up to your imagination!
Skin & Bone (2022)
Nice surprise
I came across this accidentally. I was surprised to see Amanda Seyfried acting in a short horror film on YouTube. However, it was a great film and although I'm still not clear about the message, overall cinematography acting dialogues atmosphere, everything is great. It had a real mysterious horror vibe to it. However, I interpreted this film as a message from a man's point of view about relationships with women. How men often feel trapped in their relationships. How they often feel emotionally played by women . For example when She called him WEAK , it flipped him off . At the end she walks up to him and says it is just a bad dream in a loving caring motherly way which calms him down .Final scene is Serene feeding her farm animals and there's a new goat with one blind eye . He is completely under her spell :) I think it is about that or I'm completely off the rails lol.
Death Note: Desu nôto (2006)
I was hooked
Damn... this was my first anime cartoon (whatever you call it) experience ! I always found these cartoons very childish but after seeing my boyfriend watching them all night long I decided to give it a go !
But mannn... this was one of the best shows I've ever watched ! At first they are just cartoon characters but at the end you're so involved in the story you even start taking things personally ha ha ! Story was very interesting and the competition b/w L character and Light was so intense ! The twist at the end was amazing ! And when Kira was finally stopped even I felt relieved lol ! Great show! Now I gotta watch the movie...
Amanda Knox (2016)
I have mixed feelings
Well, I have never heard of Amanda Knox or her story or Meredith anyone in this documentary. As a person who's hearing it for the first time, I am a little bit confused. At the beginning, it seemed like Amanda was very guilty, but then it turned into this huge investigation, and after seeing evidence, witnesses, and everything suggested that Amanda might not be guilty. However, by the end of the show, even after she was released from prison, I felt like She somehow knows more about Meredith's death than she's telling on camera.
She showed no sadness whatsoever about her friend's death and she started crying only when she was talking about all the harassment and humiliation and injustice that happened to her. Amanda looks very unempathetic and little bit of a brat! And that footage of her, kissing her boyfriend outside her apartment, and she turned ,her eyes were blank and something was off. It looked more like he was trying to tell her that she will be fine rather than expressing how sorry he was for her loss. I cannot really put my finger on it, but I feel like maybe she did not directly harm Meredith, but she is involved in her death, and she is guilty of something that we don't know of, and we might probably never know. What happened to Meredith was really sad. And I sort of believe Amanda's boyfriends second version of what really happened that evening, because Amanda seems like someone who can ask people to lie for her.. specially when she said that she was so tired of being interviewed for hours she got so confused and said something that wasn't true. How can someone be so confused of what day did few hours ago? Was that so difficult to remember whether she went to work or not?
So many things do not add up and make sense! When I heard that Amanda came home, had a shower, dried her hair, and then realised there's blood and faeces in the toilet... It is so odd! How can someone not smell faeces in a toilet and the smell of blood ? Think about redmeat, and I don't know for others, but every time I cook them I can smell the blood, and that is just a small piece of meat. And we are talking about a person being slaughtered and a pool of blood lying around for hours!
Her phone call with her mum or sister, or whatever which was tapped by the police, was also a little odd! She did not sound sad but rather annoyed and fed up with the investigation. This is not how your react when you find out your roommate has been murdered . I find this extremely odd! Either Amanda is guilty or she is a psychopath with no emotions.
Another thing that stuck with me is that when the police took her back to the house, she sort of went crazy and acted hysterical. According to Amanda, she felt overwhelmed, and she could hear Meredith scream! If she wasn't there, how can you picture Meredith screaming? Amanda didn't look like She was very close with Meredith to begin with so I find it odd that she could hear Meredith screaming ! You can't just walk into a crime scene and picture everything and hear every sound and act like you were present, unless you were present when the crime happened.
However, whatever the part she played in Meredith's death, I'm sure she paid for it.
Overall, the documentary was good! I wish they included more about Meredith because she is the real victim, and perhaps not showing only one side of the story? I felt like it is one-sided and biased. Everyone in the show is talking about Amanda because the show is called Amanda Knox, but I felt like none of these people had any sympathy for the poor girl who died except the police officer.
Firefly Lane (2021)
A good shot to chill
It's a good show to just wind down, Relax and binge on a Friday night. Actors were great and the story was flowing like a river. I was actually not bored for one second. However, I have to say I was shocked when I read that Tully was Katherine Heigl. What did she do to her face??! She has gigantic cheeks and humongous lips! Why can't women just age gracefully? Apart from that everything else was a pleasant surprise. Now, let's talk about the friendship! I get that they're meant to be together forever as BFFs, however, am I the only one who felt like the friendship was a little toxic sometimes? Specially, when Tully's spontaneous acts often ended up, hurting Kate. To me the friendship is more like a narcissistic control. Tully has the upperhand in most situations, and even if she ends up hurting Kate, she manages to reel her back in to her life with minimal attempt. It's like she has planted this idea in Kates mind that they are supposed to be together forever! A great example of that is when Kate decided to move overseas for studies, instead of being happy Tully just tried to guilt Trip her for putting herself first. To me, Kate is somebody who Tully emotionally depends on because of the strained relationship she has with her mum. But Kate on the other hand, also loves the attention She gets from Tully, who is a popular beautiful, talented girl at school because she was lacking those qualities in herself. So I guess they're both filling their voids, using each other .Anyway, I'm still watching the first season, and I think the second season shows that Tully changes into a much more warm caring person. So far It's a 7 out of 10 for me.
Update: so I finished watching season two. Well I gotta say season two is better than season one in terms of, showing some actual emotions from both women. But I do find it weird when 45-year-olds playing 21-year-olds. You can clearly see they are old people even with the most amazing filter And the make up. I wish they used some of the young actors so it would be much more realistic. And Kate's character can be very annoying and insecure and plain boring sometimes. So I do see why she chose to be Tully's friend. However, they all did a good job, acting was good and then the times I felt a little bit bored in season two especially now that we know they are friends and
have a long history and a strong bond, I didn't really find it necessary to show the flashbacks over and over again about every single thing that happened in their lives but then again I skipped through some of them and managed to watch it till the end . I'm still going to give it 7 out of 10, and I hope I can read the book so I can actually picture the story myself.
Fatal Affair (2020)
Not exciting
I don't know about the fatal affair in this movie, but I can confidently say that none of the characters had any chemistry between them. The husband and wife, the wife and the crazy guy... nothing, nada! The main actress looks very uncomfortable when she's been touched, and she did not seem like the kind of woman who is in to sex at all LOL . She gave me wise owl grandma vibes. That is why the sex scenes were so cringe. To be honest from the beginning, something was off between the characters . But on the plus side, I liked the house and her daughter. And her morning fitness routine. And I like the cinematography and the overall quality of the movie. So it's a 4 out of 10 for me.
The Cry (2018)
Mixed feelings
Well first of all great acting . I loved the back and forth Scotland - Australian scenes and it was very well edited . Acting was mostly good and I liked the way they kept us guessing til the end . We get to see a glimpse of what real parenting looks like and how different people deal with the overwhelming stress that comes with it.
My view on the characters are a bit different than the others. Alistair was a charming narcissist who was very good at hiding the truth. The scene with his boss (where he suggested throwing his family under the bus just to manipulate the truth ) showed the narcissistic cold side of him. But I must say it was very visible . You should be either dumb or blind to oversee it.
Jo on the other hand is no better than him. She broke up a family , married the guy and had a baby with him (which she clearly didn't want to have) and played along with him till the end covering up the truth wasting everyone's time and energy. Especially as an Australian who pays taxes ..they wasted my money lol!
So...
I feel nothing for either of these characters and the feminist message they are trying so desperately to convey is pure nonsense. Gender roles have nothing to do with the love you have for your children. Plus if it was me I would pull his ear plugs and ask him to help me with the baby !
Also if a baby cries all the times .. rather than planning to escape you should go see a doctor asap because it is not a good sign. You don't contemplate on how bad your life turned out while your baby is crying his lungs out!
Plus A woman can not be this manipulated to the point she'll agree to cover up her baby's death! Why would she even consider manslaughter charges when she should be calling an ambulance. Some pain killers can slow down your heart rate to the point that you can't detect any pulses. That doesn't mean you're dead! Jo is either extremely depressed to the point her logical side of the brain is dead or she's a sociopath who struggles to understand human emotions. However, It shows that these two people were never meant to be parents . I'm glad I'm not the judge cuz I would have given her a life sentence to rot in jail ..
Euphoria (2019)
Great acting but weak plot
I'm so glad it's not just me who felt wtf! Let's just begin with the positives unlike the plot of this show ...
Great cinematography, acting and visually stunning! Scenes are not dragging until we get bored. Everyone's acting is good and believable !
Now the bad ones ... plot is unrealistic ! This particular highschool is full of drug addicts , prostitutes, thugs and weirdos ! And the 11 year old drug dealer was adorable but unrealistic ! Where the parents and the teachers and the responsible adults ?! They only focused on the pedo or drunk irresponsible adults who are even worse than the teenagers.
My verdict : Well I think the writers are narrow minded and only focused on bad bad and bad ! Yes we need to talk about the real issues teens face and the real dangers . But just because life isn't all vanilla doesn't mean it's all bitter and toxic ! I would have appreciated this show more if they included somewhat normal everyday stuff too. It can get too dark for a teen show tbh!
Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022)
Don't get your hopes up!
I remember the very first time when I watched jeepers creepers. I had never seen anything like that before, and I was genuinely scared of the creature. However, jeepers, creepers reborn looks like a parody of the original movie. Storyline was pretty bland, and the characters were very good at bad acting, and the creature is a CGI disaster. And the more you watch the movie the more questions you have such ass, who the hell was Sam and why did he die before even the movie begin? Was she the only pregnant girl there? Why would the creeper love a pregnant woman? So many questions unanswered! I would give it a four only because I liked the old couple at the start, and their acting was pretty decent. I wish they were the main actors.
Happiest Season (2020)
A pleasant surprise
I must admit that I'm not a huge fan of Netflix ROM-Com category. Their LGBT movies are pretty cringe, and I have watched several movies before, and none of them were good. Specially the lesbian gay movies are all about the sexual desires and exploring sexuality. It's sort of dehumanises and reduces LGBT people to spontaneous thrillseeking freaks. I understand that they are more spontaneous than us, the straight people LOL but that doesn't mean they are numb to the feeling of love. So I never was a huge fan of LGBTROM-Com category because I did not find them funny or romantic.. But I love Kirsten Stewart, so I decided to give this movie ago and I'm glad I did it. Kirsten Stewart was excellent, and her acting has improved massively since the Twilight movies. Her acting is very realistic and emotional, which made this movie quite appealing. And Aubrey Plaza... What can I say, she is a great actress and delivered a great performance as always. And I must say that the storyline is also not the typical LGBTQ stories you hear about where a girl comes out and the parents act like the Hitlers ... I really enjoyed this movie. It's a 7 out of 10 for me.
Prey (2021)
Unrealistic in every possible way
Well I have to be honest I did not finish the movie. I just could not stand how unrealistic the entire plot was so I could only watch the first quarter of the movie. Let me tell you what I find annoying with this movie...
First of all five guys went on a trip for rafting/rockclimbing/adventure trip! Which make the audience believe that these guys are somewhat capable of handling difficult /dangerous situations, because in the wilderness, you can face many life-threatening situations... Right?
WRONG!
They are not quite suitable for any kind of thrillseeking adventures, I guess. And they behave pretty much like how a bunch of kadarshians would. To be honest, I think me and my girls would actually handle it better than these guys, because when the survival instinct kicks in, we don't usually pay much attention to anything else, but actually surviving! Unlike the guys in this movie..lol
I'm not sure if it's just me, or if others feel the same... If someone shooting at me, I would not run straight! I would run zigzag so they cannot aim. I guess these guys did not watch many thriller/crime movies LOL! Second thing that frustrated me was... Even though the tyres were slashed they could have attempted to drive away because you don't have to drive too far apparently to reach the village or a cell tower.
However, that wasn't even remotely considered by our picnic boys.
Third thing that bug me is the lack of confidence they have. They already outnumbered the shooter, 5 to 1! Yes, she killed one guy only because they were not expecting it at that moment! I just don't understand why they decided to run away from her rather than running towards her Zig zag and tackling her down. At least attempt to do that. Or run in different directions also another option.
Instead, picnic boys run away. They start fighting and apparently one guy is angry and he's taking it out on everyone. Other one messes up his ankle and the Asian guy is crying and screaming saying he doesn't want to die. Another guy is lost in his memories of his girlfriend, getting bitten by a jellyfish. To be honest, I couldn't find the relevance because when his girlfriend was crying with pain, he just had a straight face and pretty much stared at her face like he was solving some pretty complicated math problem. Ha ha! Then he was rubbing something on her wounds and she asked him to distract her from feeling pain and again he had the same math problem face. Blank. Absolutely nothing. Either this guy is a bad actor or the director was asleep while shooting his scenes.
So I could not watch it any more because it was not very realistic, and I wouldn't think any man would behave this way in a situation like this, even if they believe they are non-violent! I think they were trying to send the message that men shouldn't be this fragile/unprepared. I don't really know because I did not watch the movie till the end, but I guess overall acting was awful, cinematography was okay, story line is not very strong or captivating and the entire story was based on a highly unlikely scenario which also has been done many times, and finally, they are not clear about the intended audience. Is it for everyone? Is it for specific demographic? Who is it for? I don't really understand. So I would give it 2 out of 10, and I have to say I'm disappointed.
Noise (2023)
It's not that bad to be honest
Well, after reading the reviews, I was actually worried that I will be spending my time watching. Absolute garbage! But I'm pleasantly surprised.
So it's a pretty straightforward story, and I didn't find it confusing at all! Movie talks about mental health issues, parental neglect, social media etc . I think Matt inherited the OCD like symptoms from his dad's side and depression/anxiety and paranoia from his moms side, which made him lose his mind after revisiting his childhood home. I believe visiting his birthplace triggered his anxiety and OCD, which gave him paranoia and hallucinations. And I think Matt has been blaming himself secretly for the death of his mother. And he was hurt by his dad's negligence and ridicule towards him. On top of that his wife was the only person with a legitimate income which fuelled his insecurities & convinced him that he's not good enough .I think Matt chose to become a social media influencer because he was craving the attention and validation he was getting through them. I guess being a house dad/husband is making him feel even more insecure about himself. That is why he was slowly turning into his own dad by neglecting and blaming the baby for everything that goes wrong in his life . I guess that's exactly what happened to matt's dad when he was left with a newborn baby, whose wife just committed suicide, and he just dealt with his trauma his own ways ,. His father (Pol)kept blaming himself for saving his son's life which made him a bitter person, and that explains why the Village People are not very close with his family. Seems like his father pushed everyone away including his wife's best friend who was offering to help with the baby. That part is not clear enough to me though!
Matt also did the same when his wife's brother expressed his concerns over his well-being and ended up attacking him and leaving him to bleed alone. But don't worry he doesn't die ha ha!
So at the end, what really happens is Pol comes into this realisation that saving his son's life wasn't a mistake. So he saves him for the second time again at the same house. And Matt also seems like he understood his father loved him although he never showed it. Matt's desire to find justice for his own father started as a way to bond with him quickly, became an obsession and made him a bitter father to his own son. And the fact that he is missing his wife, although she is right next to him, shows that you can be living in the same house but can also be worlds apart from your loved ones If your mind is preoccupied with issues. I assume that he realised it at the end...
This brings us to a new day Where you'll find Matt looking at the lake and his wife joining him with the baby. I guess the message here is that they all moved on from past trauma and reconciled. Matt looks fine which suggests that he may have received some form of help/Treatment for his mental health issues. It also leaves the audience with something to think about mental health struggles that we often overlook/neglect and define as bad/selfish or useless!
See for Me (2021)
interesting and intense
Well, it was a pleasant surprise for me. Yes, the main character was so annoying and not very likeable. It's very hard to feel anything for her because of her attitude. However, not every blind person is a good kindhearted spirit, so I have no issues with how annoying this character is ha ha because Blind people can be D_CKS too sometimes! Story was interesting enough to keep me watching till the end. And great cinematography. This reminded me of another Netflix movie called Hush, which was about a deaf girl. However, I did not like this movie as much as I liked Hush, but I still enjoyed watching it. It's the kind of movie you want to watch on a Friday night alone ha ha.
La scuola cattolica (2021)
Gruesome and traumatising
At first, there was nothing much to it. It was all about just boys experiencing sex for the first time. And then it became very sinister. I wish they had things explained a little bit more clearly because I could not really understand what was going on at the beginning. However towards the end, it became pretty clear. Acting was great and the cinematography was excellent. But I still feel like they could have made storyline more simpler, so it wouldn't confuse the audience. Specially going back and forth in time, was unnecessary because it did pretty much nothing to make the movie more interesting other than confusing. I guess that's why most people felt like they were watching some random Clips. This movie had potential to be excellent unfortunately it failed to deliver. 6 out of 10 for me!
When the Bough Breaks (2016)
Already seen already heard story
Well, I felt that it's going to be a cheesy movie from the beginning. But let me point out things that actually bugged me.
First of all as a chef the wife is enjoying quite a bit of free time at the beginning. But then she decides to take a promotion and work Long hours knowing that this time she's definitely going to have a baby. It is a bit unrealistic to me because I would not put my career first when I'm finally getting the chance to be a mum. So I was a little bit disappointed that she decided to spend a lot more time outside of the house, leaving the husband to deal with a girl who is going crazy with all the pregnancy hormones. In this case, I actually agree with the girls it seems like this woman doesn't really take the motherhood seriously.
Secondly, I never saw any kind of spark between the girl and the husband because there were none to begin with . And I first thought that the girl is attracted to the wife. At some point I thought they would adopt the girl as their child LOL ! Later on, I thought they'll become polyamorous LOLLOLLOL! Instead, it's nothing new the same old, same old obsessive psychotic woman after a rich, successful, good-looking, married man!
Anyhow, the message we get at the end is that not every angel looking person is an actual angel. So don't let your desperation get the best of you. Anyway, it's an ok movie and I wouldn't watch it twice, but to kill time.... It's a good movie.
Exposed: The Case of Keli Lane (2018)
Do I believe her? Yes I do
I must say the level of negligence in the police investigation is astounding! Norris morris whoever could have been a married man who did not feel comfortable coming out and exposing his short term fling which resulted in a pregnancy?! Or he left the country! Or he left the baby in somebody else's care ! Million things could have happened during 7&1/2 years! My understanding of this case is she was living a double life and finally things caught up with her! She was brought up in a very strict family which made her seek love from the strangers! It explains why she was always in a relationship after another! Perhaps she let her boyfriends do whatever they want with her just to be in a relationship. And the fact that police dismissed her phone records and other crucial information is just terrifying to me. During that period manly police was under investigation for corruption! I guess they made Kelli's case such a public frenzy so they could clear their bad reputation?! However I think they should keep digging further and further and actually try to find the baby .. at least then we can be happy with all the taxes we are paying.
Always Shine (2016)
Exciting and fresh point of view
I enjoyed the movie. And the actresses played the roles very well! I started to get little bit confused around the halfway, but then it did not stop me from watching it till the end. I still don't understand the ending and I still have so many questions but, it was worth watching. It was a true psychological thriller. I understand that some people have been disappointed, but again, it's not an action thriller! It's a psychological horror/thriller. We as, the audience have to understand what's actually going on in the movie since the beginning or nothing would make sense.
So far what I picked up at the end is that Beth is a covert narcissist who pretty much do whatever it takes to get a role. I'm not sure if that has been secretly trying to sabotage Anna's career but on several instances she failed to mention some very important messages that could actually give Anna a chance to have a real acting career. And we can clearly see that Anna is a better actress than Beth, because she is way more passionate and confident than Beth. But again, it shows that in Hollywood, it doesn't matter how talented you are , what matter id how great you are at, pleasing produces/directors.
However, I'm still confused about the ending, but then I guess they left it open for interpretation. And my interpretation of the ending is that even after killing Beth and adopting Betts personality did not help Anna to be seen by others. I think when Anna passed out in the forest, she came into a self actualisation that her aggressive dominant part will always be there with her No matter how much she pretends. And she soon realised living as Beth is quite sad and pathetic because Beth never did anything she truly desired! But it was too late because Beth is dead, and Anna is left with nothing but haunting images of Beth, terrorising her 24/7.
Le patient (2022)
A decent psychological thriller
It was such an interesting story. Although I have seen many similar movies before it still impressed me. I like how they do not try to make sense of every single thing that happened because that's exactly how you feel when you have amnesia or PTSD memory loss. What I don't get is why his mother was so cold and distant. I understand that Laura died before Thomas was born, and Thomas has nothing to do with her death because she obviously died in a car crash. Shouldn't his parents be more caring and loving if they already lost one child? However, Actors did a good job and I like this song they kept playing throughout the movie. Overall, I think this movie is definitely worth watching!
Distancia de rescate (2021)
Mind blowing
This movie is one of those movies that you watch, and you do not understand what you're watching but still like it! From the beginning, I was captivated by the story and yes, I was more confused at the end, but I also felt like it was worth watching. After reading several comments and googling "The ending" I realised it's mainly about the pesticide plague happening in Argentina. But it also talks about the bond between a mother and a child and how different mothers deal with motherhood.
Let's begin with the pesticide plague that's happening in Argentina. There is no doubt that it is poisoning everyone in the village, and the reason why children are born deformed or fall sick because of the pesticide poisoning. Rather than doing something about it, the villages choose to do black magic, voodoo, BS, and make peace with the consequences. Now that's out of the way, let's talk about the other other main subject which is about motherhood.
To me, carolla comes across as a narcissist, and that she has always put herself first and failed to own up to her own mistakes. Because of that, she nearly lost her son and destroyed her new friends life. Even at the end, she chose to run away from the consequences, rather than facing up to them . The fact that she believes that her own son does not deserve her love shows she is a narcissist .
Amanda, on the other hand was an anxious empath, who put everyone else's needs before her, which made her the perfect victim . She was the perfect caring, loving mother, wife, friend, neighbour, etc. It is why there 2 very a different women felt this strong attraction towards each other.
Also this movie is talking about, often the things we perceive as threats aren't always threats and places we find safe aren't always safe. Sometimes the real threat or the danger is right in front of eyes and we choose not to look at them because of our own insecurities. If we paid more attention to the details, then we could have prevented those disasters from happening to us.
I guess that's why David kept asking Amanda to focus on the details. Because these tiny little details can be clues for us to save our selves from danger. Anyhoo.. I really like the movie and I might probably watch it again.
The Wrong Missy (2020)
RIP, my brain cells
So I don't know where to begin. It's like this movie was made by a child who was high ha ha! Nothing makes sense. The girl was extremely disturbing and very weird looking to begin with. I understand that they wanted her to be weird, but she actually looked very unhinged! And some hell just like that this man connected with a crazy woman like her over something extremely insignificant. Well it was fun to watch! But I gotta say the quality of comedies have dropped so low. Actors have to do ridiculous freaky stuff that no Sane adult would do just to make people laugh. And the saddest part is even then it's not funny! Well rip my brain cells at least save yours ha ha.
La jefa (2022)
Weird!
This movie was very weird. I wasn't sure who was the protagonist because it went back and forth with two very strong characters. And I felt like the movie was rushed. The whole plot is very confusing. From the beginning, I felt like something was not right. The girls character was not very interesting no was the bosses character. So let's just say this story is about 2 very boring people!. So basically it is about a pregnant woman losing her mind. And a strong, independent, hard-working woman losing her mind. Simultaneously! Ha ha ! Well, it was an okay movie, but I don't think I'll watch it again. And one thing is for sure it was definitely not a mindbending psychological thriller, because everything was pretty straightforward and pointing towards insanity.
Rebirth (2016)
Interesting and original
This movie is very interesting, and the storyline is very original. I was a little bit sceptical after reading some comments, but then again I'm glad I watched it. I gotta say the ending was not that satisfying, but I watched until the end which means that it was captivating enough. Whether it's a psychological thriller or not, I was curious to know what's gonna happen next. It had the escape room kind of vibe to it, rather than a psychological thriller though. But it is definitely mindbending. I have so many questions after watching this movie and usually I would not give a good score for such movies. But in this case I like it. And the acting was good. Kind of felt like it's realistic and can happen to us in real life. So overall I do not regret watching this movie.
Indian Matchmaking (2020)
Felt like watching people do grocery shopping
I do not have words to explain how I felt when the boy's Mom was explaining all the characteristics she is looking for in the future daughter-in-law. And the boy was just sitting next to her and he did not have a say. And the funniest thing is Mom said, the girl has to be flexible so it's easy for her. I've heard about matchmaking but damn... This is like another level. I honestly felt like I was watching somebody doing some grocery shopping or shopping for a house LOL didn't really feel like they were looking for a human. Felt like they were looking for the perfect product to suit their needs. I could not be able to watch it more than five minutes so I decided to move on and watch something that would not make me question my own existence ha ha! Anyways, good luck to those who prefer this kind of arranged marriage by their parents.
Red Rose (2022)
Boring
I'm confused after reading the reviews! I get that it's a teen thriller but I've watched them before and most of them were quite entertaining! However... this one is a miss! I can not empathise or sympathise or even remotely care for the characters. I honestly don't find any of them interesting. But I find the storyline interesting. If they had better actors it could have been a definite hit! I'm also shocked at how much these kids drink !! Clubbing and smoking and having sex ... well .... Interesting parenting lol! Anyhoo ...I managed to sit through it ! One thing I realised though ... people find silly things more interesting nowadays!
Luckiest Girl Alive (2022)
I have mixed feelings about this movie
Yes I do! The reason why I have mixed feelings about this movie is that it is about a very sensitive topic. And I felt really relieved at the end because she did the right thing.. The main character decided to reveal the truth. But I expected a lot more from this movie, and I gotta say I felt a little disappointed.
But I still don't understand with the recording on her phone, (admitting to all the crimes that was done to her, and to others) by Dean, she still didn't go to the police. Instead, she decided to write a book/article/TV interview about what happened to her. Maybe she gave it to the police, but they didn't show it .
However, it was heartbreaking to see that her family, especially her mum pleading her, not to go public with her story because it could damage their reputation. People can be very selfish sometimes. And I wish she actually mentioned those people who let her down when she needed them the most. But then again, she was a girl who was brainwashed to please people so I wasn't surprised that she did not mention anything about that in her interviews. Anyways, movie ended with the suggestion that Dean was going to get punished for what he did, and she became a famous activist/influencer/author etc. But I still didn't get the satisfaction I was looking for because they didn't show him getting arrested. Anyways, because of that I give it 5 out of 10.
