Sherlock Holmes (2010)
Conan Doyle will be turning in his grave
This is by far and away the worse depiction of Sherlock Holmes ever put on screen.
Ben Syder is woefully miscast. I have no idea how he could have got the role other than by bribery or blackmail (!), he is totally wrong for the part in height, age, demeanor and voice - aside from the fact that his acting skills are sorely lacking. No surprise that I haven't seen him in anything else.
The director's view, I assume, that all Victorian gentlemen walk around with their hands behind their backs is hackneyed. Lestrade looks like he's handcuffed most of the time !
The script is dreadful and some of the "cockney" accents are awful.
On top of that the locations are so very wrong, but probably something only someone from the UK would notice. Although surely most people would think it odd for Holmes & Watson to pop out from 221 Baker Street for tobacco and end up in a forest !!
Or realise that Buckingham Palace isn't a stone manor house !
And as for those badly dressed guards, there's no excuse for them not wearing a bearskin properly, did wardrobe only have one chin strap ?!!
This really is a low budget, badly scripted, poorly directed, wrongly cast film. Don't waste 85 minutes of your life watching this.
