Kimetsu no Yaiba (2019)
9.8-the humour is of putting at times but that's the only criticism I have for this show
Everything about it is perfect and the people who say the story is mediocre are those who don't understand its depth and themes or writing as a whole. Although the depth and intricacy of characters isn't always painfully obvious (like all the people giving it a low rating need to be in order to understand it) it has some of the best storytelling in fiction (that I have seen).
The story of flawless, so is the protagonist, villains, side characters, themes, world building, dynamics, journey, arcs, and overall writing. One the best shows I've ever watched and you should probably watch it too. It's amazing in every way I can't think of although the humour is a bit off putting at times which is why it's not a 10.
Red Dead Redemption II (2018)
One of the best fictional story's of our century
I don't normally write reviews but this is one of the few pieces of fiction I'd say is absolutely flawless. Arthur Morgan is my favourite protagonist of all time and it's by miles the best game I've ever played. It's truly a masterpiece and you should buy it, especially if it's on sale.
Normally I'd end the review here but it has to be a certain length. I'm just saying you've read all the important parts.
Things I like:
Arthur has so many brilliant dynamics (dialogue with other characters).
The development is amazing and the journeys the characters take are amazingly written, even for side characters.
The pacing is brilliant although many people critique the first chapter.
The characters are complex and intricate with deep motives and messages.
Watchmen (2009)
7.6-Brilliant but nowhere near the brilliance of the original comic
SUMMARY: Starting off with what this did right,
The acting is amazing and the actors they chose fit their roles perfectly.
The character designs (with the exception of nite owl) are brilliant and fit the comic brilliantly (yes I said it, nite owls design in this film is horrible. It's a shame because he's such an unknown yet brilliantly written character and they make him look like another batman knockoff).
The cgi is also really impressive for it's time and the dialogue is well written (maybe even better than the comic).
But as for what it does wrong.
As you probably know they changed the ending and because of that is completely changed the conclusion of the story. While some would argue that they both end with Adrian killing millions to scare humanity into ending their wars the comics display this better.
They also changed character in a really frustrating by way. Almost all the characters have been stripped off their physiological struggles.
What's also really annoying is that they have given literally everyone super powers. If you don't know what one of the many reasons that makes watchmen so special (especially at the time) is that only one of the heroes had powers. It showed that all the heroes had complex human struggles and it showed how normal people went to such extreme measures such as wearing a mask to benefit their society. But in the film their all super soldiers who can take hits that would kill any human.
Overall it's sort of worth watching but DEFINITELY BEST READING THE COMIC FIRST.
Kimetsu no Yaiba: Hinokami (2019)
A masterpiece, my favourite episode of all time
I hate writing reviews because I have to write a minimum of 600 characters and that very tiring. But this was by far the best episode I've ever watched. Everything about it it's literally perfect. The character development is π― the visuals are π― the antagonist is π―π―π― and literally everything is π―π―π―π―π―π―. Watch this and you won't regret it even if you don't watch the show. Wow I've already written so much and I'm still needing to write more. Now I'll tell you that Jesus is my everything because I have time for that. He helped me and guided me in the way of truth fulfilling my life with meaning. Please turn to him and then consider watching this episode.
Gotham: Rise of the Villains: A Bitter Pill to Swallow (2015)
9.7-my personal favourite Gotham episode
Not only does 'a bitter pill to swallow' contain some of the best action scenes in the series but it has such an impact on the story. It starts off brilliants and gradually gets better and better. It's dark, compelling and very suspenseful to watch. A very overlooked episode and I'll probably never get tired of watching. If I were to give a summary
Plot:9.6/10
Protagonist:10/10
Side characters 10/10
Action:10/10
Suspense:9.8/10
Pacing:10/10
Cinematography:10/10
Introduction:7/10
Ending:9.8/10
it's one of my favourite episodes in fiction and I still remember watching it for the first time to this day. Even if you don't watch gotham you should watch this.
Invincible (2021)
The best superhero show I've ever watched
Genuinely a very good show that I would heavily recommend to anyone that I know. It's such a well written show and you can enjoy it, wether you read the comics or not. The characters are great and are all likeable in their own ways. Everything about this show has been done amazingly and I can't think of anything I would want to change about it. The animation is great, the voice acting is great and the actions amazing too. As I said, everything this show could have done right, it did. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this show and am patiently waiting for a second season. By far the best superhero show I've ever watched.
Batman: Under the Red Hood (2010)
A VERY good representation of red hood
At times, this can be guy wrenching and emotional. The plot is very well written and the voice acting is also very good. You can easily pick up on what happens if you haven't read the comics, and is still enjoyable to watch. (This is basically all you need to know but the minimum required characters for this review is 600 so I'll just write more things I like about it)
1:the red hood suit is really cool and he's portrayed amazingly
2:they tried something different with jokers voice but it actually sounds very good
3:nightwing is in it (nightwing is cool)
4:it has batman in it
5: it's a film.
Star Trek: Discovery (2017)
Seasons 1&2 were great, the rest is awful
I genuinely loved the first two seasons, they had so much to offer, people are getting upset that it's not like a traditional start trek, but that's the point. Star Trek is great and I know that they obviously tried something new, but just neglecting a show just because it's not like the previous ones before that is stupid, and they're completely neglecting all that it has to offer. The first two seasons weren't bad but after the second one it began to decline rapidly, to the point where I don't even bother trying to defend it. It such a shame of wasted potential to be honest and it took what made the Star Trek great: very likeable characters, amazing spacecraft, and stunning cinematography mixed with explosive and thrilling space combat and then they pushed in cringey friendships between characters that started of, kind of fun but then ended up steering the entire plot of the show, the plot is just senseless and it's a really slow burn show that just gets boring, and the few new characters are stereotypical and it feels like the producers are trying to hard to force us to like them, combat almost never happens and it's alright when it does but it's just don't feel the same. I remember being so exited for the finale of season two (I won't give any spoilers but if you watched it you know what I mean). I admit the cinematography is still there but not as good as it used to be. The story just seems so rushed and it's boring. I watched the first two seasons with my family and we loved them but only after the first four or so episodes of the third season we had to stop because of how bad it was. Honestly, just a disappointment.
The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl 3-D (2005)
A true cinematic masterpiece
Very epic like morbius. It is very good and is a film that is good and very epic. Definitely the movie aof all time and very epic awesome π
If you dislike this film I hate you so much. And frankly you should hate yourself.
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
They just used time travel as a lazy excuse to not come up with a better plot
The majority of the movie is boring and the only redeeming quality is the last 20 minutes and for that alone people will just give it a ten out of ten. People complain that the batman was too long but I could have fallen asleep during this.
The Batman (2022)
Better than most if not all marvel movies
A lot of people give this grief because it's too long but you can't complain about something like that, especially when you would have known how long a film is before you watched it. Aside from that it has a good plot and casted batman really well.
The Spectacular Spider-Man (2008)
Every spiderman should strive to be like this
It's just a great show and I loved it when i was young and I love it now. One of the best animated superhero shows out there, if you love spiderman and haven't watched this I don't know what to say to you. 10/10.
The Dark Knight (2008)
Comic book movies won be getting better than this
I don't even need to sag anything. Probably one of the best films of all time. The acting is incredible and Heath ledgers joker remains not only the best joker but one of the best performances of a villain of all time. Put that with the best superhero in fiction and a stellar plot. It's a masterpiece.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Star Wars fans are beyond meπ
The storyline just is good. There is so much obvious wasted potential in this. The worst part is ever since it came out Star Wars fanboys have been complaining about all its flaws even turning to racism towards a cast member and insulting a ten year old for "bad acting" and now the same people are saying it's a 10/10 series just because it had one or two vader scenes. The ending was good and so was the acting but that dosnt deny it's not well written.
Star Wars fanboys will always love it. They could make a series on a Doorstep and they would say it's peak fiction.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)
Mcu films are rarely this good
Most mcu films focus too much on corny jokes and often have rather rushed plots with very forgettable villains. It's hey I was so surprised with this movie. The plot was fast paced and the action was highly entertaining. For once marvel has made a villain right. Winter soldier is amazing (but still not comparable to red hood to those who think that) but they did a great job making this.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (2019)
I never loved Star Wars but this was amazing
There are so many things that make this game great, yo the great plot and loveable characters. It looks incredible. Every planet is unique and beautiful, with so much effort into designing it and it shows. The duelling is amazing and heavily enjoyable while feeling fresh. The lightsaber customising is one of the highlights. It almost speaks for it self. We've never gotten a proper lightsaber customisation but this is amazing. I've always though Star Wars was a little overated and never really liked it that much but fallen order is one of my favourite games of all time. Would recommend it 100% to everybody even people who aren't die hard Star Wars fans.
Knives Out (2019)
Finally a whodunnit that isn't like every other one ever made
This film feels so refreshing that they did something different instead of going for the stereotypical whodunnit and it's unbelievable that some people hate it for that. It's just a genuinely great movie with great actors and a well executed plot.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
Coming from a massive Spider-Man fan this was so overated
I've always loved spiderman as a character and seeing Tobey return was amazing. But People are so blinded by childhood nostalgia to overlook so many obvious flaws. The first half of the film was so rushed to force Tobey and Andrew into the film, the fact that Ned of all people created a gateway between dimensions is ridiculous and way too overlooked. The humour is also so misplaced in this and forced. It's trying to hard to be serious yet corny at the same time. I see people saying it's better than the dark knight and it's just not comparable. Tdk will alway be a much better movie. I wanted to enjoy this but I just couldn't.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001)
Overated but still great
I think people will always give it a 10 just for the nostalgia or if they liked the books. It's definitely not that good but still very enjoyable. I can't see why people love it, in my eyes Harry Potter has always been overrated and I see so many people say it's better than Star Wars or it's peak fiction when it isn't. 6.7/10 fair.
Gotham (2014)
Genuinly don't get why this is hated
I get that not everything isn't exactly like the comics but it's not a good reason to hate on a series. I know the batman suit looks goofy but its a genuinely good series. The villain are great at times and each one is a great adaptation from comics to live action. It by far has the best penguin, riddler and Alfred and that's not really debatable.
Joker (2019)
Perfect
It's just amazing in so many ways, from acting to cinematography to the script. People who give it grief are most likely trying g to be different, if you can tell me an a cruel reason why you think this is bad I'll believe you.
Until then this is still one of my favourite cbm of all time.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
A genuinly stunning and incredible sequel
I loved this movie, from start to finish, it managed to create a new environment of fast and intense thrills while still paying credit to the original. A love letter to any fans and of the 1984 classic, with lots of amazing moments. Great stunts, action, loveable characters played by great actors, amazing choice of music and lots of great cinematography. A thrill to watch. Would definitely recommend to anybody if they have seen the original or not. It's a spectacular film.
Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare (1991)
Freddy kruger at his worst
This series can't even take itself seriously anymore. The plot is all over the place and the characters are so stereotypical at this point. I like this trilogy but it slowly become worse and worse. This is the nail in the coffin for the nightmare trilogy and it has so many flaws. Such a disappointment.
A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
People give it hate just because it's not exactly like the old one, just enjoy the movie
People never truly gave this a chance. As soon as these die hard nightmare fans knew that the orginal actor wasn't returning to play freddy they were giving it grief from the start.
The reason people don't like this is because it went for a more scary effect rather than a comedy like the last one.
I love the old ones, the first one was great and dream warriors was one of the most underrated slashers out there.
.but I just feel like most people never gave this film a chance and I genuinely like the new scarier Freddy, and I hope there is a sequel. You either love it or hate it and I loved it ππ»
No Time to Die (2021)
People will hate me for it, but it has to be my favourite bond film of all time
I enjoy the dark new gritty performance that Daniel craig brings to James Bond and this was a perfect way to end of his role. I loved this from start to finish. Everything from the plot, to the characters, the pacing, the cinematography, the actors and the thrilling action. It has everything a bond film could have and I do t get why people hate it. Overall, it's amazing.
