You Can't Run Forever (2024)
Made for tv movie
Suffering from acute anxiety, young Miranda faces a new terror when a serial killer chooses her as his next target. As he chases her through the woods, she soon finds the strength she never knew she had to elude her murderous tracker. This was like a channel 5 made for tv movie but with lots of killing. The acting was so bad it was quite enjoyable. Lots of action. A daughter who looked older than her mother. A pregnant mum whose. Prosthetic pregnancy bump Would often turn to a square. Even though cringy annd embarrassing I watched it all. Action from the very start.
The dialogue was Long, pointless and laughable. There was little tension. Incompetent police officers incompetent script.
Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark (2019)
Great movie
It's well made and fun horror but it's too scary and edgy for younger viewers. Expect moments of terror, a little blood, jump scares Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark has Guillermo Del Toro's fingerprints all over the film but benefits heavily from André Øvredal's assured direction. Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is a distinct horror flick, with well-developed leads, and a creative approach to a unique premise
Urged to celebrate her last Halloween before graduation together with her friends, Chuck and Auggie, the smart high school student and aspiring horror author, Stella, reluctantly decides to take part in yet another uninteresting night of mischief, in 1968 Mill Valley, Pennsylvania. However--as one thing leads to another, and in the face of a serious threat--the bullied team of outcasts, along with the mysterious drifter, Ramón, will seek refuge in the town's allegedly haunted house: the infamous Bellows Mansion, home of the legendary, Sarah Bellows. Against the backdrop of hair-raising stories about pale ghosts, secret rooms, and horrible entities hiding in the thick shadows, the unsuspecting explorers of the unknown meander through the ill-lit manor's long corridors, only to unearth Sarah's olo leather-bound book of blood-curdling tales. Are the rumours real? Are there scary things that lurk in the dark?
What Happened to Monday (2017)
Brilliant
Excellent movie , thought provoking and amazing lead actor.
The film follows seven identical sisters living in a dystopian future where families are only allowed to have one child due to overpopulation. In order to survive, the sisters take on different identities and share one life outside their home, each named after a day of the week. However, when one of them goes missing, the sisters must work together to uncover the truth and protect their family.
The film does an excellent job of exploring the ethical dilemmas surrounding overpopulation and the lengths individuals will go to in order to protect those they love. It also raises questions about the role of government in regulating reproduction and the consequences of taking extreme measures in the name of survival.
Overall, What Happened to Monday is a thought-provoking and intense film that delves into complex moral and ethical issues while still providing plenty of action and suspense. Its compelling storyline and strong performances from the cast make it a must-watch for fans of sci-fi and dystopian films.
3 Body Problem (2024)
Brilliant thought provoking
Finally a very good Netflix show. I have not read the book and this is my first introduction. Thought provoking as it looks at many of the elements that affect our lives. How humans are responsible for destroying each other and environment and many issues inverted. Some of the characters are brilliant others not so. It's quite scary from the 2nd episode the pace is quicker and a lot more action. I'm only half way in and if you have a chance to watch ..do it. There is a lot of science which is great.
Fascinating. There are certain stories that can truly be described as epic. I found both the premise and the series intriguing and thought provoking. It is difficult to get a whole book with many complex ideas on to a mini series but for what had been achieved it deserves applause. Obviously those who have read the books may not agree.
Chien et chat (2024)
Great fun and at times sad movie.
A surprisingly witty and sophisticated spy movie spoof that will tickle adult pet lovers and still capture kids
This is a brilliant light hearted, funny and at parts sad. Movies animated characters were lovely addition with an underlying message of unity against prejudice.
A cat (pampered star) and dog (homeless ) unite to find their way back home having to endure many dangerous hurdles along the way. The story was about navigating in a world which lives are lived on social sites and popularity, loneliness.
... and there is a happy ending. It's a great film for the whole family to enjoy.
End.
Boyz in the Wood (2019)
Boring same old script.
The usual sex and poop jokes except when they're not funny and after the first pellet gag it's just a continuous downward spiral.
Probably one of the most boring movie I watched this past year. Stereotypical characters with no screen presence. Jokes if you could call it that were lame and fell flat. None of the characters were interesting. I've never been so bored. Same old drugs getting high, sheep and countryside humour. This was neither scary, thrilling or amusing. I gave up just half way through, the monotonous, repetitive nonsense was too much for my brain to handle.
Some of the reviews writing it was laugh out loud hilarious...it wasn't. Poorly scripted and roughly made. The film is a lame stab at comedy horror that offers precious little.
Queenpins (2021)
Coupons are life changing True crime
This is actually a really decent movie. I just spotted it accidentally on Prime movies and I'm glad I did. I watched on New year. The whole drama was based around coupons and how the leading lady used a tin of coupons for her shopping. The interactions with shop staff and the scenes were funny and believable. It could be any of us. Kaminski(lead character) and best friend hatch a plan to get hold of tens of thousands of coupons and sell them. Jojo the best friend was a great character and both had excellent chemistry. Another interesting and quite hilarious cast was the audit guy Ed who had many magical moments. Although people say the ladies committed crimes, they were so likeable and the crimes not malicious. Haven't laughed that hard in a LONG time - something we all need to do. Rotten Tomatos only gave a 47% score - I disagree - if you are looking for a lighthearted movie with an interesting story and feel good vibes this true crime is for you.
War of the Worlds: The Attack (2023)
If I was an alien I'd wipe Earth out too
This is the worst adaptation of war of the world. The acting was atrocious. Wooden and so cringe. The actors literally reading the script like a rehearsal. Non of the characters were believable , from the police officer to the army guy. Very amateurish. I couldn't stand the accents. The 3 kids were suppose to be university students but were so immature they acted as if they were in primary school. Nobody was remotely likeable. My brain couldn't take anymore after 15 minutes. This was the most boring film I have watched in awhile. Whatever possessed the directors to make the film is beyond me. I do not recommend if you want to keep your sanity.
Lal (2020)
Beautiful haunting animation.
Beautifully animated visually stunning a scary reflection about fragility of life , surviving , friends and enemies. Although no words were spoken the silence was deafening. The story starts with a pile of bones. The little 'men' who all looked like each other ended up eating one another in order to survive. Then battles between themselves ended all but one dead. The only survivor has nothing ...in the end all that was left was his bones piled up on the ground.
The movie pretty much sums up the world we live in with the constant wars and killing, when really we are all the same and in the end will be our own destruction.
Spiral: From the Book of Saw (2021)
Fast paced with twists and turns
This movie is really good and a different take on the saw series of movies. It is a fast paced horror. The kills were very imaginative and quite bloody. The film revolves strong Chris rock the main police officer and his team looking for seems to be a serial killer. There are many twists and the ending was not what I expected , it was excellent. I won't go into the plot as to not to spoil. There are familiar faces like Samuel l Jackson.
The people leaving poor results either didn't watch the movie or just have dislike for Chris rock. This is a fast paced psychological horror.
Escape the Field (2022)
Another boring corn-y movie
Basically this movie: a bunch of random people wake up in a field full of corn. They try to find the way out. The usual characters , the army vet, doctor, geek and a needed. All suspicious of one another.
This has to be one of the worst movies I've seen. Another take on the lost in a corn field movie but done so poorly I couldn't wait till it ended. The acting was so bad it was embarrassing the actors if you could call them that were literally reading their lines a if were taking part in an audition. Bad one liners, over the top acting with no emotion or any sort of connection between characters. I hated all the actors non were likeable or relatable and I actually wanted them all to die so the movie could end. I didn't like any if the characters they were boring and wooden. The premise of the movie was a bunch o strangers find themselves lost in a field of corn but this movie had no atmosphere at all. It was bunch of guys running around in what seemed like plastic corn field. No scares, no suspense just one boring scene after another.
The Group would find objects around their new corn home, one of the group found a card with squares on it and instantly claimed it was a map and adamant they knew the way out instantly. There was one part where one of the main characters who was injured and the female doctor who was dealing with him suddenly ripped of her shirt for no other reason but for titillation. Lots of cringe worthy bits throughout. A couple of people got stabbed and I was like come on get on with it just end it all now.
I hated all the actors. I hated the script. I hated the acting. I hated everything. Avoid like the plague.
