Cops (1989)
Best Reality Program- EVER!
There's no doubt that COPS is the best (ever!) TV reality program.
It's been around for years, and will be around for many more years to come.
Forget the hype. Forget the staged drama and props- this is the real thing.
If you've been hiding under a rock and have no clue what this program is about- a TV crew does "ride-alongs" with the Police from all around the USA. It give us a first person view of a day (or night!) in the life a cop.
It has been interesting to see the changes in the type of events they're being called to- I'd guess that almost 99% are in some way, shape or form are related to drugs. The offenders have either just used, just purchased, just sold or have in their possession or in their car, something to do with drugs! Amazing to see how common their use is....
Great program and hope to see it for years to come. :)
Rambo (2008)
Very Graphic!
There's no doubt if you're looking for a storyline and a plot that will keep you riveted to your seat and guessing what's going to happen next, this is not the movie for you!
However if you want to see loads of action, mindless violence and loads of gore- this for you!!!
This is without a doubt one of the more graphic war and action movies that I've seen.
It portrays what I believe a war scene would be like in real life (Not having been in one, and hope never to be!). Forget hitting a landmine and being flung through the air as often happens in many movies- this looks life like as bodies disintegrate and are dismembered by the bullets, mines, knives and all sorts of other weapons.
Overall, not a bad movie- Sylvester Stallone does what he does best. He acts without too many lines being spoken....
Walking Tall: The Payback (2007)
Great!
I absolutely enjoyed this movie!
The cinematography was superb- great visuals and great camera angles.
The actors were first rate (Given that they're really not big names, like "The Rock" and others) and it was a great story.
Certainly worth the watch....
BTW, don't compare it to The Rock's version of this movie- they're like comparing chalk and cheese.
Both good movies with a good storyline in my opinion, but not comparable.
Oh, and we need to see more of Yvette Nipar- stunning lady!!!!
Disturbia (2007)
Very well done
There's no doubt in my mind that Disturbia is a modern day spin off of Rear Window, but don't mistake it for a remake of the classic- it's far from it.
It's certainly a movie that kept me wanting to watch it undisturbed (No pun intended!) and had a great mix of fun, thriller and mystery all rolled into one.
In terms of the actors- Shia LaBeouf: was fantastic in this movie. Great young actor with loads of potential to go places.
Sarah Roemer: to rip off Homer Simpson, "mmmmmmmmm, Sarah Roemer". Great actress with the looks to match.
Carrie-Anne Moss: until I checked up on this website, I had no idea she played Trinity from The Matrix- looked good and payed her part well.
David Morse: is one of those actors that pops up in a wide mix of movies and shows and you wonder who the hell he is! For me, he was the show stopper in this movie- he played his character so well, it was almost creepy to think about what your own neighbours could be doing when watching him perform!
If you haven't seen it- do it!!!!
Christine (1983)
One of the best adaptions
Without a doubt, this is one of the best book to movie adaptions I've seen.
I've been a huge Stephen King for many years and have probably read this books 3 or more times- loved it! However, like most people, you're often apprehensive when they decide to turn it into a movie...
Don't be, with Christine! It's very well done and pretty much keeps to the storyline.
The long and short of it, is Chrisitne is a possessed car that the nerdy kid falls in love with and restores. Thus begins the adventures as Christine begins to dish out revenge on everyone who has ever caused grief for her new owner- and you'd better watch out if you're on the crap list!!!!
One Hour Photo (2002)
A Different Side to Robin Williams
This movie saw a very different side to Robin Williams.
Forget the fun.
Forget the humor.
Forget the gags.
Robin played one creepy bloke in this movie. And he played it well.
If you're after Robin's traditional laughs, etc, then forget it! This is not the movie to watch.
The creepiest thing I reckon is that I'm sure we've all come across people like this working the counters at our local stores! You just don't know what goes on inside that little brain of theirs.
Worth watching at least once to see a different side to Robin's acting. Not sure that I'd watch it over again though....
Man of the Year (2006)
This Should Make The Politicians Stand Up and Think!
I thought this was a really well done movie- interesting plot and storyline and you see Robin Williams doing what he does best.
Got some great laughs in it that if they weren't so serious and true, would have you in tears. This movie should really make the politicians stand up and listen. Then again, maybe it won't....!
One of the good things about this movie is the fact that it's not just a laugh a minute with Robin standing for President of the USA- it actually has a plot attached to it that shows the dirtier side of politics (shock horror!)
For me, well worth the watch that sees Robin reeling off gag after gag, in a very similar way that he did in Good Morning Vietnam, which is something we haven't seen Robin do for some time...
Man on Fire (2004)
Yet another quality Denzel Washington movie!
I found this to be an absolutely fantastic movie.
Violent? Yes.
Dramatic? Yes.
Confrontational? Yes.
Worth watching again? Yes! I've been a huge fan of Denzel Washington's work, but for me, this movie takes the cake. It's raw and gritty and sees Denzel step away from the family man and good cop roles he has traditionally played.
The cinematics and scenes were great and really added to the feel of the movie and plot.
The story sees Denzel playing a drunk and burnt out ex cop who has been hired to protect a child of a wealthy family. After she is kidnapped, he tracks down the syndicate responsible and issues his own form of justice.
Well worth seeing if you haven't already, but be warned- it is at times, quite violent.
Employee of the Month (2004)
WIldthings all over again!
I really enjoyed this movie, although initially I was thinking, "What am I doing watching this?" Certainly had some funny moments, but I don't know that I'd have marketed it as a comedy.
It's a bit like Wildthings (another movie featuring Matt Dillon) with all the twists and turns that get revealed and certainly doesn't play out the way you think or suspect it will.
In terms of the characters and actors- Matt Dillon- played his character well. As I said though, it was very much along the lines of Wildthings in terms of concept.
Steve Zahn- didn't recognize him at first! By the end of the movie, he was really annoying me! It needed a character to do the things he did for the plot, but did it have to be such an annoying character? Christina Applegate- another one I didn't recognize. Played her character really well. Just can't get the Married With Children image out of my mind! Andrea Bendewald- maybe I was distracted by her good looks, but I didn't initially pick up on where she fitted into the plot. All was revealed though! (You'll need to watch the movie) David Pasquesi- I'm sure every workplace has an employee like this! Gees he deserved what he had coming....!
