Vampire Academy (2022)
Like it more than anticipated
I have read all of these books, I love the movie... I wasn't expecting to enjoy the TV show because I didn't think the cast would be anywhere near as good as the cast in the movie. I haven't read the books in quite some time but I do notice a few differences right off the bat, however I will say try not to compare the show to the books too much. Or the movie. Try to look at it with a fresh set of eyes. I am actually enjoying it quite a bit more than I thought I would. I will continue watching it and I do hope they finish it out. It is a little much in terms of being "woke" but what show or movie today isn't?
The Princess (2022)
Ehhhh...
This movie was very unbelievable & while I understand it's a movie... the Princess was just way too OP in this that it was just boring honestly. Very little plot, it was there but the movie seemed mostly centered around the predictable fighting.... Lots & lots of "fighting". I did finish it, but don't plan on ever watching it again. If you like movies like that- I think you'll enjoy it. It wasn't bad in my opinion, it just wasn't my type of movie. But I can see the appeal if others who like action packed movies watched this.
Tong Ling Fei (2018)
Love this anime/donghua
I really enjoy Psychic Princess! I hate leaving spoilers so I won't leave any, but I do wish this would continue. I did find it to be a bit slow/uninteresting for the first few episodes, but it got better for me. The main character did get a bit annoying, & I felt like it could've had a bit more romance, although the romance it had was the warm & fuzzy kind, not the uncomfortable echi kind.
Overall it's worth watching. It's a bit slow, but just stick it out.
The Summer I Turned Pretty (2022)
Pleasantly Surprised
I haven't read these books in probably 2 years, but I read them back in high school (7+ years ago) & I loved them so much I read them multiple times. My mom was telling me about a TV Show she watched & mentioned the name & I immediately binged it & was in disbelief it was a series now.
I think if you take tv seriously, you probably shouldn't watch this, because this show isn't for everyone. But it does a great job at capturing what life is like for teenagers now (drinking, partying, etc) whether you like it or not. If one single tv show makes you cancel your Amazon prime or if you are legitimately upset at how "bad" this show was, I think that speaks volumes about yourself more than the TV show. But go off sis.
The books are different. Both timeline wise, & a few changes I think are major. (ie Susannah). I think it's hard to understand why/how Conrad acts when you haven't read the books. & I do understand them trying to fit the series to match "todays world" (I would've been fine if it wasn't like that, but it didn't bother me with it added in either- but we all know it would've gotten even more hate if they didn't throw some of the "todays" mindset in there.)
I have yet to see a movie or tv show that follows the book exactly, so I don't know why that's such a big issue. It's expected honestly. The only problems I have are 1. I can't stand Belly's character. But that was also an issue in the books. 2. I'm a bit scared/interested in how things will play with out with some of the bigger changes & am a bit worried about if & how major events in the books will happen in the tv show.
Overall I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I'll need to read the books again, but I think it was a nice watch. A bit cringey at some moments, but that's just part of the charm I'd say.
